DW & I will be celebrating 25 years of marriage in June. I had hoped we'd be able to take a trip somewhere, but that's not happening.
So here's what I'm thinking... Get a room for the night (falls on a Wednesday) at the resort hotel where we spent our wedding night.
I'll go check in, arrange for a limo to pick me up at the hotel and surprise her at work and take her back to the hotel. We'll go to the best steakhouse in town for dinner, then back to the hotel for the night.
I got a deal at the hotel that includes champagne at check in, free breakfast, and a late (2pm) checkout.
That's the "big picture". Here are my stumbling blocks...
* She takes off work usually around 3:30p-4p, but that's often to get the kids to activities, which won't be as big a deal in the summer. But that would be putting us back at the hotel (after picking her up) at 4:30 at the latest. I wouldn't want to go to dinner until 6 (if not later), so do we try to keep the limo, or just uber to/from dinner? I know a number of people who work with her and they could probably help keep her somewhat later, but I think most leave around 4pm themselves.
* There is a spa on site at the hotel, and I was thinking about getting a couples massage. Timing wise, I think having a 5pm appointment would work, then have dinner reservations at 7 or 7:15. Or, since we have a late checkout the next day, do I make a spa appointment for late morning?
* If I get the champagne at check in, I figure I'd put it on ice before picking her up and we can have it when we return. Can champagne be chilled for "too long"? If so, how long is too long?
To try to answer questions before they get asked...
* Her work does have security overnight, and has people working overnight, so I don't anticipate a problem with leaving her vehicle at the offices.
* Yes, I'd pack clothes for her (not sure how to handle her medicines other than just take everything)
* Kids are old enough to spend a night by themselves
* I've surprised her this way twice before (not for anniversary), but it's been a long time, and yes, she did seem to like it.
If you've read this far, thank you. Any thoughts on timing?
