Read somewhere that a day room at the Atlantis resort could be had if one goes to the reservation desk directly, but can't find anyone who has paid less than $150 for one.

We currently have the Discover Atlantis excursion booked thru Disney, but thought if we could get a day room and a taxi over, would get to see and do more for less money.

Also, is getting a taxi to Atlantis easy and safe? We like the idea of getting there in a group thru the excursion, but if the taxi's would be easier or quicker would concider that. Also I heard someone speak of going in a limo for about the same price as taxi. Where does one find a limo in Nassau?

Anyone every get to the Atlantis looking for a day room, and none available? If so, can you pay a fee to tour the dig and the go back by taxi?

:D We have done the limo to Atlantis twice. We paid 5.00 per person plus the 1.00 per car toll charge. Both times we got a phone number for the driver and called when we were ready to be picked up. The limos are located in the same area as the taxies.

I would like to book a day room at Atlantis but when I called 800 number from their website was told this is no longer done. Does anyone have another number to call for this?

I have not personally done this, but have read enough to provide some answers:

*You do not book a day room in advnace. You go there and get one, IF they have any. They are first come, first served. Basically, they are rooms that have not been sold for that day, and they're recouping the vacancies.

*I have also not seen anyone getting one below $150. I don't think you will either, considering a regular overnight room is at least twice that.

*I have seen posts stating the waterpark part is not worth it. After touring the resort, I would tend to agree. They have exactly 4 slides, a small lazy river and some pools. This kids will be bored after an hour, I can guarantee.

* The Dig(and access to most of the rest of the resort, except the waterpark part) is $25 per person for adults, go to the center of the casino to a kiosk with a blue globe hanging over it. This part is definitely worht it- the aquarium puts a lot of public ones here in the states to shame. Never mind the resort itself is gorgeous.

* You can get a limo or taxies right at the end of the dock when you depart the ship. Have personally not done a limo, but have heard they're comparable to the taxis price wise.

A day room at Atlantis for $150 is worth it for a family of 4. If your talking about spending $25 a person for the dig its worth an extra $50 for use of the pools and beach and slides for 4 people. Not to mention the use of a room .

Just my opinion.

I think the day thing was never official Atlantis policy, and was more a case of creative capitalism. I last went two years ago, and made arrangements with an Atlantis employee named Rufus, who picked us up, shuttled us, and sold us day vouchers for $75. He did this for several DCL cruisers, and I believe his notoriety from these boards became such that he had to desist. I haven't heard his named mentioned in years. Other than that, around $150 at Comfort Suites is about the going rate.

The water park is indeed a mini-water park, but there are pools everywhere, waterfalls, grottoes, great beach access, the Dig, stingray ponds, and the pyramid with slides. There are a few slides away from the pyramid, so don't just spend the whole day there. Also, the whole place is just fabulous to gawk at. We're going back this year and we're going again. If you've got 4 people, I think it's a slam-dunk to be better than any other excursion choice, provided this is your idea of fun. It was one of our best days ever.
