atlantis Qs as to activities/access

Can someone give me the scoop on what you can do for free and for a price at Atlantis, say if you arrive by taxi from the ship?

I understand there is some kind of tour (The Dig) - what exactly is that and what is the price?

What can you access without paying anything (I assume at least the casino!)

Can you pay to swim in their pools?

The only way to use the pools and slides is to get a room at Atlantis or the Comfort Suite Hotel next door to Atlantis. There is an excursion from the ship for Atlantis Beach day which we did last year. It gets you in to the lagoon/beach area and you can do the Dig but no access to pools or slides. Anyone can walk in and walk around the Atlantis hotel and casino but you can not gain access to the pool or slides without a wrist band that you get with your room card from the hotel.

We are going in July with the kids this time and I think we are going to pay for a room at the Comfort Suites which will cost about $175 plus tax. But, it will allow the use of the pools and slides at Atlantis and its almost the same cost as paying for the family to do the excursion.
