Better QS Kids Meals

With the enforcement of "kids must eat from kid's menu" on dining plans, there has been some complaining of what is actually available to kids at QS places. I tend to agree that Disney is lacking in this area, but there are several QS locations at each of the parks that do offer something to the kids other than nuggets, mac n cheese, and uncrustables. Below are the ones I found by checking menus at wdwinfo.com:

MK: Be Our Guest, Columbia Harbor House, Pecos Bill, Pinnochio Village Haus
EP: Katsura Grill, La Cantina, Lotus Blossom, Sunshine Seasons
HS: ABC Commissary, Docking Bay 7, Woody's Lunchbox
AK: Flame Tree, Harambe Market, Satu'li, Pizzafari

I’ll add
DS - DLuxe Burger

I always order the kids grilled chicken sandwich. It’s tasty, seems fairly healthy and it’s filling.

We eat at least one QS meal in each park and my mom regularly orders from the kids menu. She has never had to eat an uncrustable or nuggets, you just have to know where to go.

Anyone have kids meal pictures that aren't the regular burgers/nuggets/uncrustables or know where I can find them? Some f the places I've looked for pics are outdated/from a few years ago. I'd love to see some current pics.

The only place you might find pictures of kid's meals is in trip reports. I don't know of any bloggers that take pics of the kid's meals.

I’ll be there in 2 weeks and will try to remember to take some pictures when my mom gets a kids meal. I guess I rarely take pictures of her food since the only one I found was for kids chicken parm from AoA (May 2019). B311980D-158C-4670-87E3-1398CAF6BC29.jpeg

I've been trying really hard to find more current pictures. Found myself joining a few more FB groups. sigh. I know Columbia Harbor House has a kid's salad, but I found a pic for that and it's literally just shredded lettuce and 3 tiny tomato pieces. That's not exactly the variety I was hoping for there with such great adult menu options. New-ish places are the easiest to find pictures of (docking bay 7, Saitui Canteen). I just don't trust Disney's menu words to line up with what's actually being given out.

Ignore the chili and garden salad! Contempo cafe has a great kids meal of shrimp, green beans, rice, apples, pudding, and a drink. Mobile order so the apples and pudding were choices from a few options. A quick walk from the MK!

We eat normal meals at TS but tend to eat kids meals at QS because the adult portions are too big (we share many adult QS meals and share ~2 snacks per day so the dining plan has never been worth it for us).

Kid’s hot dog from Satu’li, plenty big for an adult and more than enough for a kid imo. (And if not, they can eat a bit from the adult plates because I can’t imagine everyone can finish all that food.) This is the adult beef bowl which I could not finish (I’d compare it to a full Chipotle bowl, even more filling if you get a starchy base) and the kids bowls are around half the size with no sauce. I imagine CMs would let you add sauce even if it’s a small charge but I think it’s usually not. I believe they also have a good sized kids quesadilla and of course the bao bun.462661

Just a side order of chips from Pecos Bills but this is the size nachos that the kids meal gets, it’s plenty when you add the toppings bar. It’s also more than enough if you order one adult nachos and (I assume) use a snack credit for the chips, so you could save a kids credit probably.

BOG lunch has a nice kids meal that has more unique offerings (shrimp, sandwiches). The resorts tend to have nice kids meals (values and mods since their menus are usually bigger) that are often just smaller adult portions. Think pasta, pizza, etc.

So, to piggy back - how does the child qs look in the app now? It is separate? That's such a bummer because I definitely know my kids don't like kids food. They hate pb&j, they hate nuggets they hate all of that. My kids are steak and broccoli kids.

Random question but, if asked, will they sub the yogurt or for fries or another side?
I haven't gone yet this year but *in the past* they've been amazing about subbing out fries for us. My kids don't like fries so I've easily been able to just pick broccoli or mac and cheese etc. I mean, what if your kid is allergic to dairy? They couldn't have yogurt, so they have to have subs right?

Thank you. I am well versed on the DDP for adults but this will actually be the first time I have gone to WDW with kids so trying to figure things out, especially since I am the Disney "guru" of the group. :-)

I was the guru, but they are changing things. I am now gonna have to sit down with my calculator to see if the ddp (fd) is actually a savings for us anymore with us limited to the qs kids menu.

I also just read that they are not allowing you to change a child's qs into 3 snack credits, so that kind of whomps. I was thinking (briefly) that I'd just get 3 side dishes that would satisfy the kiddos and let them have some of my meat.
