Tell me about BBB! We’re looking at reserving a time for my 5 year old and are kinda on the fence. I won’t ask if it’s worth it because I know that’s fairly subjective. I know she would love it but I’m certain I could probably do just as good a job at glamming her up. I know it’s not the same though. I’ve seen the different package levels but am curious what exactly is included. I’ve found some conflicting info but not sure what is current. Any info/tips you could share would be awesome! I would also love to see pics if anyone would be willing to share! TIA

My daughter got the whole shebang for her birthday last trip. It was worth it for us... not just for the experience (cause she truly thought it was magical) but we also got to skip the hour line to meet the princesses.

The dress and accessories were pretty good quality and stretchy so she still wears it. The super fast drying nail polish has been used many times (and she still thinks you have to say the magic words to make it work)

We got a reservation it in the afternoon (versus in the morning) on a lark but I am happy we did so she didn’t run around all day in the getup it probably would have been too much.

Ours was 200ish dollars and I think it’s the biggest but doesn’t include the super speedy dresses they have there. She got her choice of hair do, makeup, nail polish, body gem things, dress, wand, 2 crowns (due to her hair style choice) a picture package, the meet and greet with the princesses that included a royal announcement of her presents, and a bag with all the left over goodies, a princess sash, and a princess certificate. It was worth it to me ;)

Here is a pic on the final look.

We did it in November and I think it was one of our most magical experiences over our five day trip. My DD was delighted the entire time and she sparkled all day after, literally and figuratively. We did the courtyard package and wore our own dress. It worked beautifully but I think we could get away with the crown package if we had our own dress. The only difference was the tutu and a T-shirt that go in a little satin cinch bag.

This is her face after the magical reveal.

And then her with her favorite princess after.

Oh gosh, just one more because she’s so dang happy! And it was pouring rain that day!

Definitely refer to the BBB information on the official Disneyland website for up-to-date package costs and inclusions. That is what I send to my clients, because other sites are often out-of-date (i.e. a blog post from several years ago, etc.)

DD6 has been to the BBB on a DCL cruise and the now-closed Anna & Elsa's Boutique at DLR. She also has a BBB appointment for our upcoming DLR trip. We waited until she was four to try it for the first time, and I am thinking that this visit (she is six) might be the last because she'll grow out of being interested in BBB. That said, right now, she LOVES it, and specifically asked to do it on this trip before I brought it up.

I think it is worth doing, even if just one time, for girls who love getting dolled-up. I wouldn't force it on a kid who isn't interested, because that is certainly not worth it. But, it's pretty priceless to see that look on a little girl who is loving it!

Thanks for the input! Such sweet pictures! We are definitely leaning toward doing it. By the time we get to come back again, it’s highly possible she won’t be interested anymore.

Does anyone know if you can still skip the line at Royal Hall as part of the castle package? It isn’t listed on the Disney website anymore, but I heard some people say it is still possible (if it isn’t busy? if you ask?)

I was told they didn’t do it anymore before our trip in Oct 17 when I made the reservations.... however she was walked in front of the line after being announced with her selected princess name (Princess Shelby the 1st, cause she was really into Sophia at the time)

We did it once when our youngest was 5 or 6. We got the castle package because she wanted a dress anyway. She loved it! They made her feel so special. The photographer especially went out of her way to make her feel like a little princess. Back then we got to skip the line at the Royal Hall, but even without that perk I still think it's worth it.

We went for a midday appointment so we could spend the morning on rides and then have lunch. We figured as stiff as her hair was it would last for the next day, too, but unfortunately she really wanted to ride Splash Mt that night and got soaked, so that was it for the hair.

Does anyone recall how long the BBB experience takes? I made a 10:30 reservation at BBB but now have an 11:30am reservation at Blue Bayou (so many Bs!) and am a little worried about being late for lunch.

TIA!

It depends on the package you made a reservation for. The Crown package takes about 30 minutes, so you would be fine. If you have one of the more extensive packages, it could start pushing up against your Blue Bayou reservation, although they will give you a little grace if you're not there right on time.

Does anyone have recent experience with BBB for boys? I have a couple of dress-up-loving little boys (3 and 5) who would love to get dressed up in a prince or pirate costume, but what exactly would they do with them in the boutique?

Agreed - depends on package. We have typically done the castle package which used to include pics and escort to royal hall - I don't know if they do that or not anymore - but it was probably an hour, maybe a tiny bit more.

Thanks @Plip and @lcp9. I'm not sure which one we will do yet, but it sounds like we should probably be OK. She'll probably want to be Queen Elsa. We'll have a dress with us, so she'll just do the hair and makeup.

My then 6 year old DD did the castle package and then 3 year old DS did the knight package in 2018. They were both upgraded when we got there from cheapest package to the castle package. My DS wanted the knight t shirt and shield and sword but declined to have his hair done or to even sit in the chair, he liked pretending he was a knight. My dd wanted the dress, shoes, and wand. And of course she wanted the makeover. They both loved it, there were two photographers and one took some photos of my ds even though my dd technically had the castle package. At that time they surprised my dd with front of the line princesses meet and greet. I think it depends on how busy it is. Seems like Most people have said they’ve gotten front of the line for the princesses. If you have the Disney visa, make sure to ask if they still offer 10% off.

What do you mean they were both upgraded? You opted to upgrade the package? Or Disney/BBB offered a complimentary upgrade?

We did BBB for our boys the summer of 2018. We opted to do the cheapest package where they get their hair done and receive a sword and shield. My boys loved it! One chose a prince hairdo (slicked to the side) and the other chose a knight hairdo (spiked up). They give them the option for dragons breath if I remember right. Which is larger glitter pieces in their hair. Frankly, this was the best deal in Disneyland. At the time it was only $20/boy and the sword and shield themselves cost about $20. So the whole experience was icing on top. My boys were 7 and 4 at the time.

I apologize for bad wording and misremembering. I initially booked the cheapest packages and planned to bring their costumes but decided to buy the upgraded packages when we arrived. Dd wanted to buy the outfit at bbb as she’d seen in YouTube videos, and Ds wanted the knight shirt when he saw it and felt how soft it was.
They had availability in their schedule so everything worked out.

Okay, my boys would love that. And that’s so affordable! Definitely going to look into this further.
