Canadian Buffoon's DISmeet vacation - 09/14 - Bowled Over

It was awesome meeting you all as well! Hopefully we’ll all get to spend more time together next time you’re out this way.

Michael and I will be in WDW Aug 5-10. Anyone have trips planned for then?

Well, poop, not for me. October... :(

Boo! But October is the best month to go! We’ve only been 3x; May, Sept, and October and October was by far the best especially with F&W.

We chose August so we could be there on our actually anniversary. Lol. I predict lots of pool and cocktail time.

I"m going specifically for F&W and intend to pig out with embarrassing amounts of food. ;)

I’ll be starting and the back and working my way forward. Again. :rolleyes1

Well, hi there stranger.
At least you don't have to
go all the way back. :)

And there isn't that much
to catch up on. :)

And hi! Hope all is well!

Well, I'm a bit burned out,
but still alive and kicking!

I was in Canada ( Victoria) for my first time ever a couple of weeks ago. Thought about you. Went to Tim Horton’s in the Vancouver airport. Amazeballs.

Oh, nice! Victoria is such
a nice city.
Did you enjoy it?
Why were you there
and what did you do/see?

This isn't even a serious question.

The Lambo. Duh.

You do know your cars, then.
But... I have to admit,
while I used to be a Lambo guy,
I'm now more partial to the McLarens.

Ogling at the Lambo.

No you weren't.
You said you were in the lobby.
The Lambo was outside.

:snooty:

:duck:

OUCH!

I'm a much better pilot. ;)

:laughing: Of course. ::yes::

Lies!!

I neatly folded up my clothes and put them on the table.

Oh, that's right.
One of you was the neat one,
I just couldn't recall who.

Very much! So much that I had another just yesterday.

Good! Glad you like it that much.
Did you rim the glass? With what?

Mine. And steal away. :)

Thanks! :)

Just a quick photo pause before the mayhem ensued.

::yes::

Good idea. Cuz that too was a lot of food!

Oh, gosh. It certainly was!

You make me sound like a lush. But those lemon drops I had were seriously the BEST I have EVER had. No really.

I remember you saying
how good it was.

Beats leaving my camera in a car.

Oh wait...

I do that too. :rolleyes2

Good Lawd, that cheese was good. Nom, nom, nom....

::yes:: It really was.
I need to do this again, some day.

I have the scars to prove it too! :snooty:

Oh, don't be a baby.
It only bled for a little while.

Awwww, this warms my heart. :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

What a neat story!

It was! I was really happy
for that little kid. :goodvibes

I can see why!

Yeah!!!

So, like how? They measure things or, ???

They do... everything.
They measure height, angles,... everything.
They take weights.

OUCH!!! :headache::headache::headache::headache::headache:

You poor thing! Glad there wasn't more long-lasting, or even permanent damage/injury!

It hurt. But I survived.
Lucky my back didn't go, actually.
I was really worried about that
for a while.
I didn't want to be at the race
and virtually paralyzed.

So, you were basically right in front of the cars!! Nice!!

I was right near the top of
the grandstand,
which gives a much better view
than down below.

Cool!!! I'd go to a race to see a crash. Especially if junk food is involved!

 Okay!
I'll see you there!

So, this is a photo of my favorite medical word: exophthalmos. I love saying it.

Carry on....

Next time we meet...
I'll get you to say it.

Several times.

Yay, I saw it!

;)

James Hinchcliffe - my favorite not for his car racing, but for his ballroom dancing!

 Well, that's not a bad reason!

You are working some crazy schedules again!

:sad2: oh yeah.
We lost two people
within a week.

So we're short staffed again.

I'm speeding by - wedding is coming up in 2 weeks, so the final crunch is upon us!

Eep! Yep! Crunch time!

Hopefully we will have time this summer to do a little drive by and stop in at the Melting Pot - sometimes I just have a little cheese fondue emergency that must be dealt with!

And now that I've had one,
I totally get that!

At least you don't have to
go all the way back. :)

Encouraging. Daunting but still encouraging! :p

And there isn't that much
to catch up on. :)

Oh I’m sure there is!

Well, I'm a bit burned out,
but still alive and kicking!

I’m sorry to hear that! But alive and kicking is good!

Oh, nice! Victoria is such
a nice city.
Did you enjoy it?
Why were you there
and what did you do/see?

We absolutely loved Victoria! It’s just beautiful. We were on a San Diego to Vancouver cruise that had a stop in Victoria so we we were just there for a few hours. We did a harbor cruise and just walked around downtown for a bit. It was wonderful.

Ya gotta keep your eyes
on the ball!

See -- it's not just millennials that are glued to their phones. The reactions around them are priceless.

The one fan makes the cursory "oh -- let me pretend to try and stop the ball. Not with my left hand (my phone is in that hand). I'll casually waive my free hand so that it at least looks like I'm doing something. "

The couple guys on the bench barely even react, and the fans behind the ladies give the greatest effort. Dude in the #19 jersey two rows back actually has the biggest reaction out of everyone.

So.... which one do you pick?

I like the middle one. I'm partial to blues.

It may sound a bit stressful,
but actually, we were having fun.
There was a lot of laughing.

I love having a co-pilot to help with directions. If you get lost it's not all your fault.

There was no skinny dipping either.
Sheesh. Taking all the fun out
of my complete lies.

:rotfl2:

I think for the most part, people enjoyed it.

Sounds good. I'm not much of a drinker and I've never had a bloody Mary either. Michelle loves them so we most likely like this one.

I don't remember whose idea it was,
but we decided to pose for a selfie.
I shamelessly stole this photo
from Liesa's TR.

Nice photo!

We started off with some bread.
You know... pretty standard
restaurant offering.

That looks soooo good.

Don't we all look deceptively
calm and peaceful?

Yes you do, but you're all armed.

Smiling, Kari reached for
a crab leg, confident in the
thought that the fighting was
behind us now.

I would have been reaching for the crab leg too.

As a peace offering,
Alison suggested we order
the "famous" strawberry rhubarb cake.
So we did.
And it was good.
And we behaved.

Some more good looking food.

I did take a couple of the
food service area,
just to give you an idea.

Food at these kind of things are part of the entertainment.

By the time dinner was done,
we all may have felt
slightly (and when I say slightly,
I mean extremely) full.

That did sound like a great meal, even if it was a little dangerous.

As qualifying ran down,
I zipped down to the
paddock area to watch
the cars come in from the track.

Very cool! I'm picturing more scenes from "Cars".

This one belongs to another
favourite driver.
(James Hinchcliffe)
But he's more my favourite
because he's Canadian.
Although, he is a fan favourite.
He's very personable.

I actually know who this is, but only because he was on Dancing with the Stars. He actually did pretty good, he's got some moves. :dancer:

The look of awe on his face
was priceless.
After a bit, the crewman
took the wheel back and went
to replace it.

What a great memory for a kid.

All I know is that a great weight
(Maybe a couple hundred pounds?)
suddenly crashed down on top of me,
bending me double and forcing my neck
to bend my head into my chest.
I might have blacked out for a second.
I certainly saw stars, was very dizzy
and felt like I was going to vomit
for a while.
I felt better after a few minutes
and was (mostly) back to normal
after about half an hour.

Poor ponzi! I don't think you came out to well in this dog pile.

Do you read? If you do and haven't read it I suggest "Racing in the Rain" by Garth Stein. It's told from a dogs point of view but it's got lots of racing in it. We read it for book club a couple of months ago.

And... did you see it?

Yes I did. I hope he enjoyed the races too.

Encouraging. Daunting but still encouraging! :p

See? Piece of cake!

Now I want cake.

Oh I’m sure there is!

:rolleyes1

I’m sorry to hear that! But alive and kicking is good!

More like....
Alive and twitching.

We did a harbour tour too.
Well, sort of.
We went from point A to B.
Walked back.
Was really nice.

Pretty observant!

If it doesn't come in your colour...

Don't get it.

I love having a co-pilot to help with directions. If you get lost it's not all your fault.

Good point!

"This is all your fault!!!"

Sounds good. I'm not much of a drinker and I've never had a bloody Mary either. Michelle loves them so we most likely like this one.

Bloody Marys at good.
Bloody Caesars are awesome.

Nice photo!

Yes it is!
I can't take credit, though. :)

That looks soooo good.

Kinda was!

Yes you do, but you're all armed.

mutually assured destruction

I would have been reaching for the crab leg too.

And you would've gotten
your knuckles rapped.

Survival of the quickest.

Some more good looking food.

::yes::

Food at these kind of things are part of the entertainment.

yes!

"I want that... that too... ooooh! That!"

That did sound like a great meal, even if it was a little dangerous.

Danger is my middle name.
Well.... it's my third middle name.

Firs and second middle names are:
"Runaway" and "From"

Very cool! I'm picturing more scenes from "Cars".

They didn't make that stuff up, ya know.

:rolleyes1

I actually know who this is, but only because he was on Dancing with the Stars. He actually did pretty good, he's got some moves. :dancer:

And my other favourite driver
(who lost his ride this year,
except for 2 races,
Helio Castroneves won.

What a great memory for a kid.

Right?!?!?!

Poor ponzi! I don't think you came out to well in this dog pile.

I lost.

I usually do.

Thanks for the tip!

Yes I did. I hope he enjoyed the races too.

Once he turned around.

Wow! Sounds like a busy couple of days. You sure seemed spoiled by your dinners. It sounds like you really had a nice time with friends regardless of the form spearing!

I was actually thinking you would we given us more details about the cars and race. I think it would have been interesting. I remember being a poor college student and not having cable. I would watch NASCAR on my fuzzy tv screen on the weekend just to have something to watch. It is amazing what you can become interested in out of sheer boredom and procrastination. I never did watch the Indy races though.

Well, hope your schedule is slowing down and you can enjoy your summer time with your family. Is Elle headed to college this year?

I never got into NASCAR.
No passing. Just a train of cars.

Then again, even with passing,
I know a lot of people are bored
with open wheel racing too.

I considered adding more details
about the cars/race/etc...
But figured that the vast majority
of my readers' eyes would glaze over.

Well.... glaze over more than usual.

Well, hope your schedule is slowing down and you can enjoy your summer time with your family.
