child locator for water parks

Does anyone know of any kind of "child locator" that I can put on DD10 at the water parks that will help me track her down when she wanders away? Last year, she disappeared twice at Blizzard Beach for 20 minutes each time. I did put her in a bright orange and yellow bathing suit, but that only helps when I reach the area she's in. I know she's going to wander--she's Houdini--she disappears in a split second, even though she's just told me, "Ok mom, I"ll stay with you." Yeah, right, I've heard that one before :rolleyes1 If anyone has any ideas, they would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I'm not exactly sure what they call it at BB, but at TL we have "Safe Harbor" which is an area right outside Singapore Sal's (the big store).

If a misplaced child is found they are brought there and kept under supervision and their description is radioed to all lifeguards and staff. If parents come to a lifeguard and the child has been found they are escorted to Safe Harbor to be reunited with the child.

If a parent cannot find their child they will go to Safe Harbor and describe the child. Again, we will radio a description to lifeguards and staff along with the child's name and they will keep an eye out for the child.

We have had days with over 40 children and parents being misplaced.

Thursday I was covering SH for about 45 minutes and luckily the only customer I had was a woman looking for her 17 year old twin daughters. In her sitauation nothing was really done, as I asked her did she really want the lifeguards and others searching for lost 17 year olds, and if yes what would the kids have to say about it.

But also we will not let an unaccompanied child out the gate by themselves. Last year I stopped a six year old boy who had wandered away from his parents; I took him to SH and the parents were located.

So if she wanders away there is a method where we can assist you in fnding her. By the way, one thing that is always useful if you have children who may wander at the parks, and you have a digital camera, take a photo as to how they are dressed so you can show people.

Thanks for the info. I guess my concern is that looking at my DD, you would never know she's lost. She just wanders off and starts playing on her own and looks like she's supposed to be there. For instance, last year at BB, I found her playing in the wave pool, just having a good ole time, not even knowing that I'd been looking for her for 20 minutes! I've gotten to the point I don't worry as much as get frustrated and angry about the whole situation. For example, she didn't see anything wrong with just climbing out of the Lazy River after DH and I had already floated by the exit and couldn't get back to where she had gotten out. Lost again!!! It is good to know that she wont' be able to leave through the gates on her own, though.
