Chunky, We're Home! A Star Wars Galaxy's Edge Double Preview! THE END 4/12 TR COMPLETE!

Wasn't it just the best?!?!?
THE BEST moment - seeing the Millenium Falcon! The FALCON!!! All my Disney dreams have come true.
Well, that and when they make Rise of the Resistance a FP ride. 😆
Interesting... I've never been in through the Toy Story entrance. Exited yes... but never entered.
Actually, same here.
Oh! Don't think I even noticed that. Sounds interesting and good!
It's pretty good! Not like Gaston's Tavern good, but it's flakier as opposed to gooier
 Some day I'll pilot that hunk of junk.
Yes you will!
 Great photo.
Thanks!
Had to get rid of the mohawk?
It was time.
It must be done. Obligatory foot shot or go home.
Truth!
Nope. I did try it. I did. But it's just not for me.
Maybe some day I'll try it again, but... kinda doubt it.
I admit it has lost it's appeal for me since it's been so inconsistant. Im moving on the the nutella waffle at Sleepy Hollow.
Gorgeous shot!
Thank you!
Great trip so far though I'm still bummed our plans never lined up! We seemed to always be in the exact opposite place
I know!! I miss my Chunkylush, we need to hang out! Oh but we're doing so in November, right? :teeth::teeth::teeth:
Cute, cute, CUTE!
Thanks! I whipped up that outfit that day and hoped it looked ok!
Steve!! You nailed it!! :goodvibes
Official Chunkydump seal of approval! 👍 Yay!
I adore doing the drawing classes!
Me too! I don't get to go on each trip but I really like them
Where is this?! I would LOVE that!
It's at the margarita stall outside of Mexico in Epcot
As long as it's not crockpots!
LMAO That's a pretty good type.
Especially ones like Kari and I who can't fly worth a crap. And crash into anything that CAN be crashed into.
You guys were not bad, at least you tried!
I need some flying lessons. LOL!
LMAO
I really like them slaw and all. It's my go-to lunch now if I'm not doing HBD.
The Ronto Roaster is pretty good. I've on ly had one.
I enjoy the Brown Derby a lot. Nice, elegant-ish break from the park with decent food. I'd agree with everything you said here.
Exactly, a nice respite in the park sith usually decent food but nothing special.
 You're adorable. Stop!
Aww thanks :)
I wanna be that lady in front of you when I'm that old! Zipping around on a coasters and having the time of her life!
Liesa I can see you doing the same even when much older than her!!

I love this picture!

I was hungry so ordered breakfast: The Mustafarian Lava Roll, which was very good. Like a cinnamon roll but not sticky, and had oreo crumble on it.

Ooo that looks delicious.

However, the cobb salad is always a draw so I knew that that was what I would be getting for lunch!

I'm obsessed with the Cobb Salad I have to get it every time we go to HS :rotfl:

::yes::
Well, that and when they make Rise of the Resistance a FP ride. 😆
Not a fan of frantically stabbing at the "Join Boarding Group" button?

It's pretty good! Not like Gaston's Tavern good, but it's flakier as opposed to gooier
Huh! Well, okay then! :)
I admit it has lost it's appeal for me since it's been so inconsistant. Im moving on the the nutella waffle at Sleepy Hollow.
Not a fan of Nutella... but I do want to try the sweet and spicy chicken waffle sandwich.

Hi Raeven!! So happy that you're here!
I love this picture!
Thank you! One of our favorites!
Ooo that looks delicious.
It was quite good!
I'm obsessed with the Cobb Salad I have to get it every time we go to HS
That is definitely one thing I always get at HBD!
Not a fan of frantically stabbing at the "Join Boarding Group" button?

Hmm, it is pretty stressful during the morning and when you arrive etc. But after you get one, you can breathe a huge sigh of relief. The 30 mins of stress is better than waiting in line for 4 + hours though!
Huh! Well, okay then! :)
yup!!
Not a fan of Nutella... but I do want to try the sweet and spicy chicken waffle sandwich.
What, you don't like nutella? How is that possible?!

Day 3: The end of Trip #1

Our last day before we had to "leave" WDW - and we were back at DHS! DHS has taken a huge 180 in recent months from being a half-day park to a large, very time consuming park! Because of the addition of Toy Story Land and Galaxy's Edge, it is slowly turnng into our go-to park. We just love the rides here, Slinky Dog, RnRC, TSMM, and now RoTR. I want to ride everything so at that time we had to make FP there for multiple days if we wanted to ride both TSMM, RnRC, and Slinky dog on a trip! But now that TSMM and RnRC are Tier 2 fast passes it is a HUGE relief!! I still make it so that we have FP at DHS for more than one day a trip just because I love Slinky so much and could just ride it over and over (also now that Smuggler's Run is a Tier 1 too). All it needs now is more quick service and table service options and I'll be the happiest camper. Although it's not too bad to hop to Epcot during a festival for some eats.

That last morning we packed up, put the lid on our nice new owner's locker and checked out. Because we have the locker now, we had to wait for bell services to come pick up our stuff whereas before we would just walk with our bags to the lobby to save time (sometimes they can take a while!). But it's just something to note now that we have the locker so will have to allow time for this when we check out and even when we do a split stay.

Today I was in an R2-D2 mode.

The necklace you see me wearing I actually bought at GE the day before! I picked it up from the store attached to Droid Depot.
We took the bus to DHS. Steve was also in R2-D2 mode:

So during the previews they had given out these maps which had legends for the Aurebesh symbols.
Steve was practicing translating in Launch Bay:

He seems to know the words Danger and Caution by heart but he seems to be learning new words each time

I have no idea what this says, I'll have to ask Steve. 🤣

We got our picture with another favorite droid, BB-8! I really wish they had an R2 meet-n-greet!
I love that droid so much! He's the unsung hero of the rebellion/resistance.

I really liked a bag I saw in launch bay, so I bought it! I'll show it later on.

We did our first FP at...Toy Story! I don't think I was the winner. I'm usually on the left.

Still, it is such a fun ride and it really brings out the competitiveness in me. I usually cannot care less about competing with Steve in other things, but once we are on Toy Story, I put my game face on.

We had fun at the Incredibles photo op:

We got some warm rolls with olive oil:

And we shared a salad to start. I really like this salad! I think this was the:

Insalata di Mercato
Chef's Choice of Seasonal Ingredients - looks like there was romain, cucumbers, red onion, asparagus, arugula, tomatoes, feta and croutons. It had a red wine type vinaigrette and it was tasty!

As an entree I always get the:

Charred Strip Steak
Four-Cheese Macaroni with Pancetta, Aged Balsamic-Shallot Butter, and Chianti Wine Reduction

Although it's not the best cut of steak, it is tender enough and flavored well, and the mac n cheese with the wine reduction is just delicious! They should sell that mac n cheese on it's own as it's really that good!

Steve got the:

Oven-baked Chicken alla Parmigiana
Breaded Chicken Breast with Marinara Sauce topped with Melted Mozzarella over Spaghetti

It was good, although fairly standard but the red sauce is nice and the chicken was not rubbery as it was the last time we ate this.

I finally had time to sit down and take pictures of my new bag. It's from Harvey's which is the brand that makes bags from that seatbelt material. It's Star Wars themed, and I like that you can use it as a tote and crossbody as well! The best part is the zipper, representing light side and dark side light sabers. It was a really cool design.

But the most awesome part was that I used my Disney Visa Rewards card which I had been saving up and the bag cost me...0.75 cents!!! #winning :thumbsup2

Sadly it was time to leave the park as we had to make it to ME and on our flight back home, but before that...a very special DISmeet with one of my first DISmeets ever! @Tracy161!!!

She was just about to head into her GE preview. Unfortunately it was raining so we just met up at the overhang near the muppets theater. It's always a pleasure to chat with one of my oldest DISboard buddies!!

We headed out of the park amidst the rain and back to ASMo and took ME back to the airport. It was such a short but sweet trip and yet we get to do it all over again the next weekend!!!

Stay tuned for the start of our 2nd GE preview trip!!!

A quick trip but a great trip. Can't wait to see what the next trip has in store for you...HS is becoming a fav of mine too and I never thought I'd say that. LOL!
Also, Joe and I are looking forward to seeing you and Steve. :cool1:

Hmm, it is pretty stressful during the morning and when you arrive etc. But after you get one, you can breathe a huge sigh of relief. The 30 mins of stress is better than waiting in line for 4 + hours though!
Wait... you can wait (albeit 4+ hours) in line??? I thought you had to get a boarding group?
What, you don't like nutella? How is that possible?!
I'm not the only one, you know...
I don't like nutella either. Maybe it has coconut overtones.....
See?
DHS has taken a huge 180 in recent months from being a half-day park to a large, very time consuming park!
It's sooooo much better than what it used to be!
at that time we had to make FP there for multiple days if we wanted to ride both TSMM, RnRC, and Slinky dog
::yes::
That FP system was absolutely awful!
I still make it so that we have FP at DHS for more than one day a trip just because I love Slinky so much and could just ride it over and over
Because we have the locker now, we had to wait for bell services to come pick up our stuff whereas before we would just walk with our bags to the lobby to save time (sometimes they can take a while!). But it's just something to note now that we have the locker so will have to allow time for this when we check out and even when we do a split stay.
Huh! That hadn't occurred to me. I don't have one and am unlikely to get one, but... Huh.
Today I was in an R2-D2 mode.
Sure! Why not!?
The necklace you see me wearing I actually bought at GE the day before!
Cute. :)
So during the previews they had given out these maps which had legends for the Aurebesh symbols.
Steve was practicing translating in Launch Bay:
Oh! I had no idea there were legends.
I have no idea what this says, I'll have to ask Steve. 🤣
"Stop reading and go buy more merchandise."
I really wish they had an R2 meet-n-greet!
That would be great!
I usually cannot care less about competing with Steve in other things, but once we are on Toy Story, I put my game face on.
I started with a cocktail, I can't remember what this one is exactly but I think it had limoncello.
Yum!
Insalata di Mercato
Chef's Choice of Seasonal Ingredients - looks like there was romain, cucumbers, red onion, asparagus, arugula, tomatoes, feta and croutons. It had a red wine type vinaigrette and it was tasty!
That sounds good. :)
Although it's not the best cut of steak, it is tender enough and flavored well, and the mac n cheese with the wine reduction is just delicious! They should sell that mac n cheese on it's own as it's really that good!
I need to remember this for the next time. :)
I had a wonderful special last time and will go back.
The best part is the zipper, representing light side and dark side light sabers. It was a really cool design.
Nice touch!
But the most awesome part was that I used my Disney Visa Rewards card which I had been saving up and the bag cost me...0.75 cents!!! #winning :thumbsup2
Score!!!
but before that...a very special DISmeet with one of my first DISmeets ever! @Tracy161!!!
Tracy! How nice you got to see her again. :)

And here is my cobb salad! I asked them for the dressing on the side because I like to control the amount on my salad to avoid getting it too soggy. It was good for this sweltering day and was light yet filling. I don't remember what Steve got as I don't have a picture!
I love that salad and do the same with dressing on the side.
We had to park hop to MK right after because Steve had another appointment on a chair...

at Harmony Barber Shop!
So fun! I took Bill there in July after you mentioned going there with Steve. They did a really great cut!
Princesses ride the Peoplemover too!!
It's their royal chariot!
What a great day!! We had our first glimpse of Galaxy's Edge, I got to ride the Millenium Falcon, and we shut down MK! It didn't even matter we were leaving the next day! Well, we'd be back next weekend, so that helped!
Amazing!
We got our picture with another favorite droid, BB-8! I really wish they had an R2 meet-n-greet!
An R2 meet would be great! Also I love your R2 dress!
Sadly it was time to leave the park as we had to make it to ME and on our flight back home, but before that...a very special DISmeet with one of my first DISmeets ever! @Tracy161!!!
Tracy was my first Dismeet too. She is such a doll!

I don't like nutella either. Maybe it has coconut overtones.....
Oh funny, I never thought it was remotely coconutty but I think I can believe it.
A quick trip but a great trip. Can't wait to see what the next trip has in store for you...HS is becoming a fav of mine too and I never thought I'd say that. LOL!
Also, Joe and I are looking forward to seeing you and Steve. :cool1:
Yes! Can't wait until March!! Super duper excited!!
Wait... you can wait (albeit 4+ hours) in line??? I thought you had to get a boarding group?
Yes you need a boarding group, I was just comparing it to waiting in line for Flight of Passage. I'd much rather have just 30 minutes of stress and get a BG than waiting in line for hours.
I'm not the only one, you know...
Point taken. 😆
It's sooooo much better than what it used to be!
It really is!
::yes::
That FP system was absolutely awful!
Ugh it was so bad, we basically did like one ride and didn't care for any others!
Huh! That hadn't occurred to me. I don't have one and am unlikely to get one, but... Huh.
It's really only useful for people who go multiple times a year, because there's a monthly cost, so it should pretty much be less than the checked luggage fee in order to make it worthwhile!
Oh! I had no idea there were legends.
There is one somewhere I think in Launch Bay. Either that or you can ask a CM.
"Stop reading and go buy more merchandise."
Probably!!
I need to remember this for the next time. :)
I had a wonderful special last time and will go back.
I'd return too! Right now I always waver between 50's Prime Time and Mama Melrose and usually it's easier to get into 50's Prime Time on short notice.
Tracy! How nice you got to see her again. :)
We were so lucky our trips overlapped! It's been a while!
I love that salad and do the same with dressing on the side.
YUM!
So fun! I took Bill there in July after you mentioned going there with Steve. They did a really great cut!
How cute!!! I think it's so adorable when adults get their hair cut there! They are treated like the kids! I'm sure Steve would have liked to play with the buzz lightyear toy they had too. 😆
It's their royal chariot!
It certainly is!
An R2 meet would be great! Also I love your R2 dress!
Thank you!! I would seriously love an R2 meet!
Tracy was my first Dismeet too. She is such a doll!
She is!! So happy we got to meet up!
Sounds like a great last day! I agree, there's so much to do now at DHS!!
It's found is new glory! I'm so happy it's once more a destination park!

Yes you need a boarding group, I was just comparing it to waiting in line for Flight of Passage. I'd much rather have just 30 minutes of stress and get a BG than waiting in line for hours.
Ah, okay. :)
Ugh it was so bad, we basically did like one ride and didn't care for any others!
Yeah... I can see that. Make your one and only FP... plus two early throw aways… go to the park, ride, leave. :sad2:
It's really only useful for people who go multiple times a year, because there's a monthly cost, so it should pretty much be less than the checked luggage fee in order to make it worthwhile!
Ah! I'm learning lots, here!
I'd return too! Right now I always waver between 50's Prime Time and Mama Melrose and usually it's easier to get into 50's Prime Time on short notice.
It's easier to get into 50s?????????? I always found it to be very difficult to even get an ADR there!

Ah ok, I have never ridden single rider so didn't know how that queue worked!
It's very... dull  You basically just go down a hall of concrete and up stairs of concrete and that's it. You're not missing anything! :rotfl:

The sacrifices we make for a Disney vacation!!! :-)
You got that right! ;)

You two were killin it in these R2 outfits that day :thumbsup2

I really wish they had an R2 meet-n-greet!
Me too!

I love that droid so much! He's the unsung hero of the rebellion/resistance.
He really is. He just gets stuff done... and fearlessly :lovestruc

But the most awesome part was that I used my Disney Visa Rewards card which I had been saving up and the bag cost me...0.75 cents!!! #winning :thumbsup2
Woohoo! Gotta love it when that happens.

It's always a pleasure to chat with one of my oldest DISboard buddies!!
Likewise! You were my first Dismeet ever... and it wasn't even planned! I was sooo excited when I realized it was you many years ago on BTMRR

It was such a short but sweet trip and yet we get to do it all over again the next weekend!!!

Stay tuned for the start of our 2nd GE preview trip!!!
Makes leaving Disney so much easier when you realize you'll be back in just a few short days. I wish all Disney trips were like that... ::yes::

Tracy was my first Dismeet too. She is such a doll!
Awww, shucks :goodvibes The feeling is mutual! It was such a pleasure meeting you, too - hope to again someday!

What an awesome trip report. I can't wait for part #2! You are so photogenic and how is it in August you don't look like a hot mess?!? Not fair!

Our last day before we had to "leave" WDW - and we were back at DHS! DHS has taken a huge 180 in recent months from being a half-day park to a large, very time consuming park!

Yes it has! We spent three half days there this last trip!

But now that TSMM and RnRC are Tier 2 fast passes it is a HUGE relief!!

Of course this happened AFTER my trip. :sad2:

All it needs now is more quick service and table service options and I'll be the happiest camper.

Yes that would help. We struggled finding places to mobile order from this past trip.

Because we have the locker now, we had to wait for bell services to come pick up our stuff whereas before we would just walk with our bags to the lobby to save time

We've always had to have the bellman help. We have too many suitcases. 🤣

So during the previews they had given out these maps which had legends for the Aurebesh symbols.
Steve was practicing translating in Launch Bay:

I should start learning that language!

Insalata di Mercato
Chef's Choice of Seasonal Ingredients - looks like there was romain, cucumbers, red onion, asparagus, arugula, tomatoes, feta and croutons. It had a red wine type vinaigrette and it was tasty!

As long as there are no olives, sounds good.

Charred Strip Steak
Four-Cheese Macaroni with Pancetta, Aged Balsamic-Shallot Butter, and Chianti Wine Reduction

I know you like this one a lot, but when I go to an Italian place....

Oven-baked Chicken alla Parmigiana
Breaded Chicken Breast with Marinara Sauce topped with Melted Mozzarella over Spaghetti

Hello! This is what I want. In fact I should put this AND Spaghetti with meat sauce into our upcoming dinner selections.

The best part is the zipper, representing light side and dark side light sabers. It was a really cool design.

That's really cute!

We headed out of the park amidst the rain and back to ASMo and took ME back to the airport. It was such a short but sweet trip and yet we get to do it all over again the next weekend!!!

You're lucky to live close enough that a plane trip is so easy, but far enough that you are forced to stay overnight when you do go.

Oh funny, I never thought it was remotely coconutty but I think I can believe it.

I was just making a joke that pkondz and I both don't like coconut, so may that was why we both didn't like nutella. I know I dont care for hazelnut anything.

It's really only useful for people who go multiple times a year, because there's a monthly cost, so it should pretty much be less than the checked luggage fee in order to make it worthwhile!

You pay monthly? We just have an annual fee. We dont pay baggage fees cause we fly SW, but the stuff I mostly keep in mine is stuff that we wouldn't bring/have otherwise without the locker.

Official Chunkydump seal of approval! 👍 Yay!
I only give those out very discriminately, ya know . ;)

It's at the margarita stall outside of Mexico in Epcot
Good to know! I always get the empanadas there, so should look at the menu more carefully next time.

LMAO That's a pretty good type.

As is this one! :lmao:
You guys were not bad, at least you tried!

We sucked, but at least we didn't die.

Liesa I can see you doing the same even when much older than her!!

I sure hope so!!

Although it's not too bad to hop to Epcot during a festival for some eats.

This is so true!
So during the previews they had given out these maps which had legends for the Aurebesh symbols.
Steve was practicing translating in Launch Bay:

Doesn't he know that that's the international symbol for boozy drinks. No need to speak or read a different language!!

So CUTE!!

But the most awesome part was that I used my Disney Visa Rewards card which I had been saving up and the bag cost me...0.75 cents!!! #winning :thumbsup2

Okay, that is the best kind of winning!

Trip #2 Arrival at Coronado

It was a pretty rushed week in between trips, but thankfully it was August and it was relatively slow at work and my boss was on vacation so I didn't feel too much pressure, LOL. So by the time next Friday rolled around we were even more ready to go on vacation (again)! I had gotten a text that afternoon that our room was ready at Coronado Springs - imagine getting a text before you're even on the plane, LOL. It just makes you not want to do any work!

Taken at one of the Newark airport restaurants Friday afternoon. Our flight was at 5pm.

We arrived in MCO and headed straight to ME. Since we have the Owner's locker now it's very easy to just pack clothes in carry-ons so no need to check baggage (unless it's a much longer trip!)

We're home (again!)

We went to the top floor to check out the Dahlia bar.

We didn't get anything since I wanted to be up bright and early but we just admired the view from the outdoor seating area.

That's Galaxy's Edge right there!

Meanwhile, my sister, Chunkysis, was in Singapore that August. I was going to join her in a few days (literally 2 days after we get back from this trip). She sent me this picture. Disney was having a Mickey Mouse campaign in Singapore and my character-crazy sister had to seek out the one and only Meet n Greet in Singapore.

We both agreed it felt like a deluxe Vegas hotel much more than a moderate! However I really liked the Mickey touches which are subtlely and tastefully done in the decor. I think it's just beautiful and would very much like to stay here again in the future!

We weren't too hungry but I brought snacks so we just snacked in the room and I watched my favorite Disney blue screen before calling it a night. We had to check out tomorrow (too bad) but we were headed to Epcot! Stay tuned!!

What a lovely hotel! Not themed really except for some nice Mickey touches and accents, but still clean and bright. I'm anxious to try the Dahlia and Toledo for sure!!

Yeah... I can see that. Make your one and only FP... plus two early throw aways… go to the park, ride, leave. :sad2:
Thankfully that isn't the case anymore.
It's easier to get into 50s?????????? I always found it to be very difficult to even get an ADR there!
Well we have gotten a few same day 50's Prime Time so it can't be that hard right? Maybe only if you're pkondz 😆 :duck:
It's very... dull  You basically just go down a hall of concrete and up stairs of concrete and that's it. You're not missing anything! :rotfl:
Ah good to know!

You two were killin it in these R2 outfits that day :thumbsup2
Thanks! I dressed Steve. :rotfl:
He really is. He just gets stuff done... and fearlessly :lovestruc
He's the unsung hero!!
Likewise! You were my first Dismeet ever... and it wasn't even planned! I was sooo excited when I realized it was you many years ago on BTMRR
It's seriously one of my favorite memories! It could only happen at Disney!!
Makes leaving Disney so much easier when you realize you'll be back in just a few short days. I wish all Disney trips were like that... ::yes::
Right? Or, why do we even need to leave at all? :cloud9:
Sounds like it was a fun final morning. DHS really has become an all-day experience now. And thank goodness they changed those FP tiers!
It really has! It has definitely become our go-to park!
What an awesome trip report. I can't wait for part #2! You are so photogenic and how is it in August you don't look like a hot mess?!? Not fair!
Thank you so much, you are so very sweet. I was definitely a hot mess in 98% of the pictures and I just show the 2% which are ok.
Yes it has! We spent three half days there this last trip!
It has gotten quite big!
Of course this happened AFTER my trip. :sad2:
After ours in Jan too. But at least for our upcoming March trip we're good.
Yes that would help. We struggled finding places to mobile order from this past trip.
I agree. They need a couple more interesting food places. I know that the Toy Story restaurant is coming though which sounds interesting but I am not a huge fan of bbq which is what I think the restaurant is.

Hello! This is what I want. In fact I should put this AND Spaghetti with meat sauce into our upcoming dinner selections.
Yum, I love traditional spaghetti and meatsauce!
That's really cute!
It's a really cool bag!
You're lucky to live close enough that a plane trip is so easy, but far enough that you are forced to stay overnight when you do go.
And you're lucky enough to have Disney in your backyard! #grassisalwaysgreenerontheotherside
I was just making a joke that pkondz and I both don't like coconut, so may that was why we both didn't like nutella. I know I dont care for hazelnut anything.
Haha I guess you guys will leave the coconut chocolate hazelnut flavored things to me.
You pay monthly? We just have an annual fee. We dont pay baggage fees cause we fly SW, but the stuff I mostly keep in mine is stuff that we wouldn't bring/have otherwise without the locker.
When they set us us I think they just did it monthly and we never changed it. I don't care either way as long as I'm paying the same amount yearly which I'm pretty sure is the same.
