Combining Direct Purchase points and Resale Points

We are brand new DVC members by purchasing Aulani during our recent trip to Hawaii. The question is, if we buy a resale contract, can we combine the points with our direct purchase points to book a Disney Cruise or ABD adventure?

No. Any new purchases of resale contracts cannot be used towards the Disney collection. You could only use the Aulani points. It's honestly a blessing though as you can rent out the points and use the cash to pay for a cruise or ABD and almost everytime come out ahead. The value on DVC points are using them for stays at DVC resorts.

If you buy a resale contract for Aulani with the same use year then you can combine the direct and resale points at Aulani for a DVC booking any time.

If you buy a resort at WDW instead with the same use year then you can combine the points for a 7 month DVC booking not 11 months.

They've been offering it at least since 2015 (just took a quick look on their FB page). They do the same with ABD.

Thanks for the suggestions of renting the points for cash value or even the trading option. Being a newbie there is a LOT to learn!!!
