I just received this email from Disney. I love my DVA, so I'm sad to see this!

Thank you for your participation in the Disney Vacation Account program. At this time, we are discontinuing the program and no new accounts or contributions are being accepted.

As a true Disney fan, and to show our appreciation for your participation in the program, below are four (4) options you can choose from. If you have more than one account with the Disney Vacation Account program, you may want to take action for each account.

Option 1
Use the total amount in your account to purchase a Disney Gift Card (depending on the amount in your account, you may need to purchase multiple Disney Gift Cards) by 9/27/17, and we'll add an extra 5% on your Disney Gift Card(s). Just click here to see how to select this option and we'll email the gift card right to your inbox for immediate use. If you are entitled to more than $10,000 in Disney Gift Cards (after including the extra 5%), they will be emailed to you over the course of a few days.

Option 2
Redeem your Disney Vacation Account toward the Disney vacation of your choice and, if you haven't already booked a vacation, here is an amazing offer for Walt Disney World® Resort:
Stay and play for just
$899
for a family of 3 with this package that includes a 3-night stay in a standard room at Disney's All-Star Sports Resort or Disney's All-Star Music Resort AND 2-day Theme Park tickets!

For stays most nights 7/25–8/5, 8/27–9/9, 9/24–10/5, 10/22–11/4 and 12/10–12/21/17. Book through 9/27/17.

Ask about great rates available at other Disney Resort hotels!
Price based on 2 adults and 1 child (ages 3 to 9). The number of rooms allocated for this package is limited. Tickets valid for one Theme Park per day and must be used within 14 days of first use.

Length-of-stay requirements may apply. Additional per-adult charges may apply if more than two adults per room. Advance reservations required. Offer is nontransferable and cannot be combined with any other discount or promotion.

Call 407-939-7943 for more information or to book.

Option 3
Do nothing. Starting after 9/27/17, Disney will begin to close Disney Vacation Accounts and process refunds. If you have funds in a Disney Vacation Account after 9/27/17, then sometime after that date you will receive a full refund of your balance to your original form of payment or by check to the mailing address we have on file for you. Due to the nature of the program, Guests may experience delays in the refund process.

To thank you for your participation and for your patience during the refund process, a bonus of 2% of your closing balance or $5.00 (whichever is greater) will be placed on a Disney Gift Card and emailed to you. The bonus Disney Gift Card will be delivered separately from your refund. Please allow up to 15 days between the delivery of the refund and the bonus Disney Gift Card.

Option 4
Request a refund before the refund process described in Option 3 is completed, and your full unused balance will be refunded to your original form of payment or by check to the mailing address we have on file for you. With this Option 4, you will not be eligible to receive the bonus Disney Gift Card.

Thanks again for your participation and for your understanding.

I like that they are adding the extra 5%, better than the 2% before. How do I use it to purchase gift cards? Can I use my account number on Disney store dot Com?

When you log into your account there's an option to request gift card... click next and it shows total w/ the 5% and an egift card pops up right away with the number on it which you can enter to apply to your vacation or if you have a gift card account enter it on there.

If you sign in and click "view account details", under next steps on the left side, there's a "purchase a Disney gift card" option.

I'm also sad to see this ending! I used it for two different trips and it was a very easy way for me to buy gift cards and save up for my trips. The funds really were "out-of-sight-out-of-mind" and that works well for me. Looks like I'll have to come up with a different plan for the next trip.

Great! Thanks for the info. I'll check when I get home from work. It's actually a better deal for me since I was only going to hit the first $1000, now my bonus is double what I would have received.

What do I do with the e gift card? It seems sketchy to leave all my money on it. Are these posts above mine referring to buying hard gift cards with the e gift card? Do those only come in 1k increments also?

Maybe I should see if I can use an e gift card to pay onto my balance. I am using a TA for the first time and don't know if that is possible...

The egift card is my best option. But only if they can be used to pay off my trip. Is it possible to use egift cards to pay off the trip either online or by phone???

If your TA booked your package directly with Disney, then yes, you can use a Disney gift card or a Disney Visa Rewards card toward your vacation payments. If booked with another Disney authorized package or room vendor, for example Southwest Vacations among many others, or if the TA has purchased a group room block and is reselling it, cannot use a Disney gift card for payments. Not sure if E-gift cards are handled the same way as a physical card though.

In any case KEEP the gift card. In case of cancellation or change any refund goes back to the original forms of payment.

Thank you. It is through the dreams unlimited, recommended here, and my TA had told me I could use my DVA account to pay, so hopefully this works out. I really don't like having that much money sitting in my inbox.

I tried to buy a gift card, and it pops up that it failed. I guess I'll have to call in and see what the problem is.

Just received my E Mail while having breakfast at Rancho Del Zocalo at Disneyland. I was only halfway to my goal for my cruise on The Magic next year.

Way to ruin my pancakes.

Seriously? I just signed up for it 4 days ago. No joke. Sigh...oh well, I'll just do the same thing using PayPal.

I was thinking of contributing another $1000 in gift cards to my DVA just yesterday! Looks like I missed out on an easy $50. I'll take the 5% on what I already have in my account though.

i tried several times to cash out by choosing the giftcard option. Finally after several tries it did work and i received the giftcard email immediately...however it puts the full balance on the same giftcard mine was over $1400. Not sure how i am supposed to transfer it to a real card because on Disneygiftcard.com it wont let you you move it because it is over $1000. I don't feel comfortable leaving it as they email all of the info in 1 email.

I feel your pain. Just YESTERDAY, I paid $2000 towards my WDW vacation, so I missed out on $100 - and even worse, the final payment wasn't due until October. I'm hoping that I still at least receive my $40 bonus. I called and the representative assured me that I would, but I'm not hopeful.

I got lucky, just put in a few thousand yesterday that hasn't gone out yet and a refund also hit yesterday! This just might be the easiest gift card churn I've had yet.
