Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

Not surprised. OC hasn't yet met the thresholds. When they do they'll have to be off the monitor list for 2 weeks before they can even petition the State with their plan to move forward. Then time for the State to approve + time for DL to come to an agreement with OC, etc.

IMHO any dates set by Disney for hotel reservations are just 'placeholders' and have no significance as far as presaging an actual reopening.

I do not for see the State giving guidance for theme parks until the entire state is meeting the metrics. We are effectively back at mid-stage 2 of re-opening right now in most areas of the state.

Disney hotels will continue to push 30 days out, a week at a time.

I completely agree about guidance not being provided until most of the state can open theme parks. LA County is still in bad shape (last time I looked) and there are theme parks (Universal, Magic Mountain) and I can't see Newsom giving guidance for DL to open when the ones in LA County cannot open due to not meeting the criteria previously set.

Disney shareholder call is today- here’s hoping we get some news.

Heck, I’d just love a new reopening date for Avengers Campus. I am betting they’re going to push that to next year and it’d be great to know a date so we can plan our 2021 trip better. I know that’s super back burner right now but on the other hand wouldn’t you want to push 2021 travel? Read Living by Disney’s newsletter this morning and WDW isn’t drawing much out of state visitors (well, yikes Florida..) but I don’t see Disneyland being much different either in that aspect. California is depicted in the news for out of state folks as the next epi-center and that’s gonna scare people off whether or not OC gets its numbers down.

Not for us Nevadans! It's probably safer for us to go to Disneyland than it is to go to casinos. If the opening of DLR is as restricted as WDW, I'm ALL IN!!! Unfortunately, I work in a casino so DLR might not want to let me in. LOL

And this is just another example as to why the media is practically useless. we are having major issues in the Central Valley, and this virus is really attacking the Latino community. It’s not, however, a widespread disaster throughout the state. I’ll take my 5.29% average of positives over the 23% my family in Houston is facing any day of the week. I don’t believe in downplaying anything, but if a news outlet is going to claim that, they need to be area specific and also be extremely specific with their data. ALL the data.

But hey, if it keeps tourists out of California and Disneyland lighter, from a health perspective I guess that’s good. The state is really starting to shift resources to these hard hit areas, which is awesome. Everywhere else.... keep wearing masks and don’t do stupid things Californians!

I think a lot of 'out of staters' are being kept away not just because of Florida's stats in and of themselves, but also because of the dangers of air travel.

My son just got back from 6 weeks in Key West (they wore masks and SD) and he said he was far more worried about the 3 airports they had to go through than being in KW itself.

So, I thought the parks would be open before my AP expired but it expired yesterday and is no longer showing in my app or my account. Does anyone know will it show back up after the extend the expiration date? They are still planning on extending the expiration dates for the length of the park closure right? I apologize if this has been answered (or if the answer still is we don't know)

They haven’t extended any passes on the Disneyland side yet. Once they do it will be extended for at least the length of the closure. Unless you were on monthly payments, if you were you have to call to get the extension.

Not to mention mandatory quarantine rules for some states if you go to hot spot areas.

When I called to extend, I was told they wouldn't be extending passes (expired or otherwise) until they had an idea of a reopening date. I was also told to expect my passes to disappear from my account, but not to worry as they'd either reappear with new expiration dates once extensions were confirmed, or I could call if that didn't happen.

I know a county has to off the watch list for 14 days for schools to reopen but I had not heard this for businesses. Can you point me to where you saw this? Thanks

My pass expired late March and dropped off my app several months ago. I have a Premier and it did show back up on the WDW side (for that portion) once it was confirmed those parks would be opening. I expect the same to happen when the DL parks are close to opening. You can still use it at DTD for discounts in the meantime. I had no problems doing that when I was there a week ago Saturday. Just an extra step for the cast members for processing it.

Well idk if this is new information to anyone or not, but I’m hearing at DtD that CMs are starting to take surveys about the procedures and how people feel about a the parks reopening/how likely they are to come to the reopening and how they would feel if parks were open now. I also coincidentally received a survey from Disney this morning via email regarding the same thing. I can’t tell if they’re just covering some ground or truly preparing for an opening in the near future. Time will tell! I’m staying positive on this!!
It’s not time for them to be wasting money so I feel they must think this is an important step to getting back to making money- ie opening.

So are we thinking earliest mid Sept or early Oct?
Honestly? We are six weeks away from another spike with Labor Day a month away. Then there is Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years. I think March doesn’t sound too unrealistic depending on how the winter goes.

Of course if people wear masks and don’t have parties/gatherings we will be in much better shape for a possible November opening.

I thought it was 3 days off the watch list for counties to petition to open new things...I read an article yesterday and that's how I understood it, but of course I didn't save the article.

If you have high numbers for 3 days you are on the list for 14 days. So logically it would follow that you get off the list 14 days after 3 days of “good” numbers right?
