Well, at least now it’s official and we can stop investigating why CL was dropped out of some reservations.

Thanks @mrsap!

FYI, here's the e-mail I recieved:

Subject: Action Required before returning to the magic.

Returning to a World of Magic

Though some of our experiences have changed, the magic never fades. It never wavers. And it’s still waiting for you to come and experience it. That’s why we are excited about your upcoming stay at a Disney Resort hotel.

But to help you confirm if now is still the right time for your visit, please review the following operational updates and click the REVIEW AND CONFIRM button at the bottom of this eMail to confirm, modify or cancel your upcoming visit.

Here are a few of the changes:

HEALTH AND SAFETY MEASURES

While visiting Walt Disney World Resort, all Guests ages 2 and older—along with all Cast Members—will be required to wear face coverings. To learn more about this and other measures we have put in place, visit here.

THEME PARKS & EXPERIENCES

Our Theme Parks and Water Parks will still be closed during your travel dates. However, Disney Springs is currently in a phased re-opening with many retail and dining locations ready to welcome you. For more information on locations open at Disney Springs, please visit here.

RESORTS

Many Disney Resort benefits and amenities may be temporarily unavailable. Select Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground will be open during your travel dates but other Disney Resort hotels will remain closed. Check here for the latest details.

If you have a reservation at a Disney Resort hotel that won’t be open during your travel dates, we can help modify your Disney Resort hotel reservation. And if you have a room and theme park ticket package, we can help modify that too. You can choose to modify your plans when you click the REVIEW AND CONFIRM button below.

DINING

During your stay, dining locations and experiences may be limited to manage capacity and foster physical distancing. To learn more about available dining options, visit here.

TRANSPORTATION

Resort transportation around property will be available in limited capacity to allow for physical distancing. Also, if you are arriving via Orlando International Airport, you may still take advantage of Disney’s Magical Express Service. Details here.

We know a stay here during this time will be different. But the world needs magic now more than ever. And we can’t wait to have you here with us. Hope to see you real soon!

Let us help you determine if now is the right time for your visit. Learn more about your options and how to take action by clicking the button below.

I don't know much about WDW anymore... but the one thing I do know is I am going to have a fantastic CL spread set up in my FW Cabin on my next trip!

Half the cost of a CL room and I get to pick my own beer and snacks! Win-win!

(Just trying to bring some humor into the situation - not great news for many on this thread)

May I ask what your dates were? I see that the parks were not slated to be open during your visit, and now I am more confused than ever because I don’t know if the pre-park resort reservations are considered “initial phase of reopening” or if they’re talking about all CL resort reservations Going forward for the time being.

The e-mail I received is for a stay that ends 7/5, FWIW!

So where did they allow you modify to? Only dvc villas or?

Well, I clicked I plan to keep it (even though I probably don’t plan to, although I might depending on the circumstances) since I wanted to see what the options were, but it just says my response has been logged and I’ll be contacted. You can’t undo your selection, evidently.

If there isn’t CL or CL access rooms this year, that’s fine. Disney has to do what they have to do given the current situation and if they cannot deliver on the CL experience, then I appreciate that they took out the CL and adjusted my charge (yes, it’s been adjusted).

But, what’s not cool is to not let us know that they are unable to offer CL, and instead simply make a change to our reservation, so we are left wondering if there was an error made when taking out the DDP or if it’s intentional because CL will not be operating.

And to downgrade from the most expensive room (not including the suites), to the most basic room category without reaching out (they have my phone and my email), is again, not cool. If they would have at least changed to the Tower room, then it would have been better. And note, that GDT is CL access. Rooms are not in a specific floor. So, they could have very well taken the CL access and left me with a room at the Tower.
This!! 💯

I was just coming here to post that. 😔 I understand it with everything going on though.

that's what i got to. i tried to call to see if we could get moved to the campground (RV) instead but got cut off. selected continue....someone will contact. not going to be happy if we get moved with no refund based on costs for CR theme park view CL. getting very frustrated with how Disney is handling this. really just want to move my deposit to November trip.

Yup totally understand the lack of ability to provide CL service... but let me know... or at least when I fall don’t act like you can’t figure it out and say that you will have to get approval to fix things!

I thought about you the minute I saw this news. It was awful the way they basically jerked you around, considering this is likely the reason for it.

Seems like Disney is just like any other org with the lack of communication between teams and the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. I think there'd be a lot less frustration if they could get it together in this respect, even with all the restrictions etc.

I thought the post above had free dining too in sons October stay but maybe he just had dining!
I hear you on the weekday CM but I spoke to no less than 6 with three promises to get back to me, so I hope you have better luck! Keep me posted!
my son did not have free dinning. He paid for the dinning. I have now cancelled our trip in October but will hold out for my December trip, for now.

I have to agree with everyone else, this has been handled soooo poorly. I feel so bad for those of you that have just been moved/cancelled/changed with no explanation whatsoever. It's not like WDW closed yesterday and the virus is new, why didnt they have a better plan in place? No excuse. I cant help but to compare them to Universal and how universal has handled everything. Yes, universal is smaller with less people but still, they've pretty much returned things to normal. They still have shows and characters out. Pools are open, waterpark is open, most every dining is open, etc, etc. We just booked the hard rock for $206/night! If you're not familiar with that hotel, its comparable to any deluxe at WDW and includes the Express pass, which is an unlimited fastpass. For the time being, we are taking a step back from WDW to see how everything unfolds but if things keep going this way we might not be back.

Communication could have been handled better for sure and I feel for the affected people (tho I was in no rush to rebook for 2020 for good reason) but I don't get these comparisons to Uni, it's apples vs. oranges imo. Uni doesn't own or operate its hotels, while Disney does. Someone else mentioned it somewhere but Disney is like a large city vs Uni being more of a township. Way more moving parts to think about and so much more to lose in a botched re-opening. They are insanely protective of their brand and also I think they genuinely are trying to keep guests and cast safe. Not to say Uni isn't but everyone's flying blind in an unprecedented situation and Disney is the 800 lb gorilla of the theme park industry.

Put it this way, I legit would not have known Universal was open again if I didn't follow theme park blogs and Twitter. Meanwhile Disney's announcement was on the news headlines that play in the elevators at my office. Pete's been saying it's an impossible needle they have to thread and I agree.
