I went on this a few years ago and it was amazing. But I read a lot of reviews from disappointed fans last year (2017). Has anyone gone on it this year (2018) yet? Have they stepped it back up, or would you consider it 'not worth it'?

I am going on the 30th. I will post a short review. On the phone they said it is a 2 1/2 hour walking tour. Playful spooks will visit us on the tour and we will get treats. The end of the tour includes a ride on Haunted Mansion Holiday.

Just went on this tour today. I'd never done it before, so can't compare it to previous years. I have a handful of photos, but need to resize before posting.
Throughout the tour we made several stops for history tales and spooky stories; our guide Julianne was quite funny. Additionally, we went through both Disneyland and California Adventure to take in the decorations. We had 4 "treats" during the tour.
1. We were escorted to the front of HM line and had a private elevator down.
2. We were given individual Pan de Muerto (traditional Day of the Dead treat).
3. We stopped by Trolley Treats to "Trick or Treat" our way to a block of Pumpkin Spice fudge.
4. We finished the tour with a pretty cool surprise (not sure I should spoil it) and a special pin.

I forgot to take pics for half of the tour , but I can post a couple later.

Do you think this tour is more for adults or would be ok with 9 year olds? Thanks!

There were two kids about that age in the tour group. Their interest waxed and waned, but they did end up establishing a relationship with the tour guide. At a couple of the stories, the younger of the two ended up quite frightened and had to be reassured by his parents.
They definitely enjoyed the treats, but I think had a harder time with the tour.

Thank you so much. It seems like it might be a bit much for my kids. Sounds fun though!

Thanks for the review! I'm still debating on if only one line hop would make this worth it. If I read this right it was the Haunted Mansion line? If the treats are amazing it could be a good deal.

Yes, the only ride was Haunted Mansion. At the time we went on, the posted standby wait was 70 min.
The edible treats we got were nice, but I'd give them a generous (Disney) value of $5 each. Fudge was the same piece that you buy from Trolley Treats at ~$4.25, but if you don't like pumpkin spice then you wouldn't enjoy this treat. The Day of the Dead bread is a simple treat that is only slightly sweet; not available elsewhere at Disneyland, but I might compare it valuewise to a croissant.
The pin of course is a nice treat, but personally the surprise at the end is what I ended up valuing the most: an upclose encounter and photo opportunity with a pair from the Mansion displaced by Oogie Boogie.

Thank you for sharing your experience! I'm visiting for my first time during Halloween Time soon and have been on the fence about doing this tour. Hearing your experience has helped me decide to go for it!

The CM I spoke to when booking my tour was so kind, she said fellow CM's are saying this is the best version of the tour yet with going into DCA and the surprise at the end. Very excited to do this on the 25th!
