Hilton Head

We will be going there the next spring break (end of March).

Can anyone share any links on cool things to do? Nice restaurant suggestions?

Sorry this is our first visit to Hilton Head so we have no idea.

Best thing that I can recommend is to rent bikes. The island is pretty much flat, so riding is easy with bike paths everywhere. You can probably save money elsewhere, but it's super convenient to just rent from Disney for length of stay. We aren't big bike riders, but decided to give it a go and it was a big hit.

Make sure you visit the beach house. The bus is fine, but you might want to drive based upon how late you want to stay.

Good restaurants: Kenny B's, Sea Shack, Sunrise Café.

Just off property there is a great Krogers. Definitely worth a trip on the first day or two, especially if you have a kitchen.

I always use Trip Avisor to find restaurants. We liked the Salty Dog. We went there for lunch , we sat outside.

DH and me stumble across the British Open Pub. I think that's the name. Delicious Lobster Pot Pie, Fish and Chips and Hot Pretzels.

Rent bikes, enjoy resort, the a Beach House has lots to do besides the beach, ping pong, billiards, and pool volleyball. There is nice club house for reading or board games when the weather is not good.

You can ride bikes on the beach. Mini Golf. Nature Preserves. Whale watching.

Harbour Towne Lighthouse.

I always do a search for thing to do where ever we go.

Enjoy! We are hoping to get back there next year.

We go there every year (for the last 18 years). I agree with all the recommendations above. Add Skull Creek Boathouse, Black Marlin, and Poseidon. I find that with eating at HHI, so many great restaurants, so little time. In late March, you'll probably still have cranberry nut cookies and hot apple cider in Big Murgie's Den every afternoon. Don't miss it, at least once (although I predict that once will become more than once).

We head to HHI next month. We had been a regular Disney Cruise family and decided to do something different this year. I think we will appreciate the change of pace from the go-go-go of a cruise.

Yep! Going for our third time this Summer. When we last went 4 years ago, my kids said it was better the Disneyworld (they were 7 and 9).

join the DHHIR - Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort page on facebook. There is a lot of good info.
I also love the french bakery in addition to the places mentioned. We just love the resort. The CM's there are great and make you feel right at home

We went last week of March this year and had a BLAST.

I haven't heard of any whale watching but we HIGHLY recommend this dolphin tour: http://www.commanderzodiac.com/dolphin-watch/exploring-daufuskie-island/ We have gone twice now with the kids and its an amazing experience.

Restaurants:

http://saltydog.com
http://pinogelato.com So good- we could get gelato here every day!

Sadly Pino Gelato closed recently. I was so sad. Going there was such a tradition for us. Nutella gelato-need I say more?

Can someone recommend a place for breakfast? If there are any within walking distance, that would just be a plus.

Is there tours for the swamps? My dd wants to see gators.

There is a free nature tour to Pinckney Island on certain days (check the activities sheet for your week, call ahead they can email this to you right before you leave, reservations are needed) You board a small van and they drive you over. They have some nice binoculars they loan everyone for the tour. We walked out to some ponds and saw plenty of birds and quite a few gators.

There is a place called Skillets you could bike to or drive down, they have the BEST breakfast potatoes and omelets. They do have a small buffet here also. Get here early as it's quite busy in the summer months.

I just called to get the email of activities, thanks for mentioning this.

We are thinking of doing Hilton Head middle of March. Trying to figure out all the players who might join us on this trip. What is the weather like during the middle of March? is it warm enough yet for swimming or is the pool heated?

The resort pool(s) are heated. The air temps will range from mid-60s to low 80s for the highs. The ocean temps will usually be mid/upper 60s in mid-March. The resort will offer a lot of activities and there is always something to enjoy locally.

Spring break is typically a busy time at the HH resort! :)
