Impact Statements of Survivors of Larry Nassar

That was from Kyle Stephens, she was the Nassars babysitter. Her father didn't believe her when she told him about Nassar and has since taken his own life because of it. She also said when Nassar came to their house after being confronted that Nassar told her she should not be abused and if she was she should tell her parents. She said she was in court to "tell everyone."
Its very common to not be believed, its easy to just deal with it because you tend to just give up after no one helps. Very proud of these girls.

Just announced that USAG has terminated their agreement with the Karolyi Ranch in Texas, where all national team camps are held. This is an isolated location where many, many gymnasts have been abused and some of the most famous gymnasts (Simone Biles and Aly Raisman) have said that no one should have to return to.

A small step in the right direction from new USAG CEO Kerry Perry.

Didn't the Karolyi's sell the ranch a few years back?

That Karolyi guy gave me the creeps even 30+ years ago.

I've been following this case closely for a long time. USAG holds a ton of responsibility in this. They covered it up for years.

Not just years, but up until yesterday. I heard about this last night:

Chrissy Teigen and Kristen Bell Offer to Pay McKayla Maroney's $100K Fine for Breaking NDA

Chrissy Teigen, Kristen Bell and The Good Place, creator Michael Schur have taken to social media to give their support (financial and emotional) to Olympian McKayla Maroney, who may be fined $100,000 if she speaks out later this week about the sexual abuse she suffered at the hands of disgraced Team USA doctor, Larry Nassar, who was recently sentenced to 60 years in prison for child pornography.

In 2016, the gymnast received $1.25 million settlement from USA Gymnastics and agreed to sign a non-disclosure agreement as part of the deal, which also entails a $100,000 fine should she ever speak publicly about the molestation. But Maroney may break the NDA this week as she is one of 88 women who are currently scheduled to deliver victim impact statements at Nassar's sentencing, which begins today and is set to run through Friday.

And while that amount may be a hefty sum—first Teigen and then Bell and Schur hopped on Twitter to say they'd pay the sum if need be.

Along with a screen grab of a headline regarding Maroney being fined if she speaks, Teigen tweeted on Tuesday, "The entire principle of this should be fought - an NDA to stay quiet about this serial monster with over 140 accusers, but I would be absolutely honored to pay this fine for you, McKayla."

Schur then retweeted Teigen's tweet and wrote "I'll split it with you." And then Bell retweeted Schur's tweet and wrote, "I'll 1/3 it with you."

Only after it was all over social media and Teigen, Bell & Schur had offered to pay, did the USAG announce yesterday they would not enforce any fine:

"Whether Teigen's use of her social media brute force had any effect is unclear — the supermodel has over 9.59 million followers on Twitter alone and her message calling out USA Gymnastics was shared over 68,000 times in under 24 hours — but regardless, the organization has publicly backed away from any suggestion it would enforce the fine, claiming it “has not sought and will not seek any money from McKayla Maroney for her brave statements.”

"USA Gymnastics encourages McKayla and anyone who has been abused to speak out," said the group in a statement released late Tuesday."

Apparently it was and that's why many want more than Larry Nassar's head to roll.
Did the Fab 5 honor Mrs. Karolyi when the won? It was suppose to be her last year, and it looked lik all the girls adored her.

The Karolyis still own it, I believe.

Absolutely. The whole thing is disgusting. They told the girls not to talk about it and that they were "handling" it. Despicable.

The Final 5 in 2016 named their team that partially in honor of her final team. I think it's complicated with her. She's very tough and I know in the past was mentally abusive, but I don't think the current team sees her that way. They very much respect her and what she's done for the program. I absolutely think the Karolyis have fault here with creating an environment that made the abuse easy to happen and cover up, but it doesn't seem like Aly or Simone or the others resent her for it. In her book, Aly Raisman talks about her with a lot of respect, though not the organization itself. They wanted to please her. Maybe in the coming years we'll hear more about her specifically.

Sounds like from an outsider looking in the whole program needs scrapped and rebuilt from the ground up. Sounds like a lot of people like the other way instead of helping this girls.

I hope the court made a video of all the women who have been facing Nassar. Part of his punishment should be having a TV set just outside his cell, with the TV playing HOURS of these women facing him, over and over again, every day, LOUDLY, for the rest of his miserable life.

Pretty much.

They have videos of all of them. You can watch a live feed. And I think they're uploading them all separately as well. The judge read a letter from him this morning basically saying it was sooooo hard to listen to everyone face him and he shouldn't have to. She basically laughed in his face. Her whole response to his stupid letter is a gem, really.

What I don’t understand is why they continued to employ him for so long. Hearing about accusations and suddenly deciding to hire someone else without investigating would make much more sense. Why keep him around?

I haven't watched anything. I just want to hang this guy from the highest tree. I am disgusted by this. I am furious at USA gymnastics. This isn't the first time there has been sexual misconduct issues. I am so angry this has never been dealt with. I hope the woman sue everyone. They deserve it!

I saw a very short clip of the Judge talking to him, holding up his letter, then saying how the 4 short days he has to listen to the victims is nothing compared to the years he got pleasure at the young girls' expense. Since she is obviously on the these young women's side, and will be the one to decide his sentencing & punishment, that's why I think it would be great if she could somehow make him have to listen to some videos of them every day. These young women have to live with what he did to them every day of their lives.

As of this morning the count of victim impact statements to be made is 120!

While I am STRONGLY in favor of making this guy suffer as much as possible, I hope the judge is maintaining a "fair" trial. I'd hate to see him get an appeal based on her perceived partiality.
