Just back from Vero - resort was great but lovebugs were disgusting!

We had a great time at the resort. Friday and Saturday we were dealing with the remnants of a tropical storm, so it was cool, cloudy, and drizzly. Saturday afternoon it cleared up and we had gorgeous weather from then on. The only problem was with the nice weather, out came the lovebugs. They covered everything - lounge chairs, trash cans, towels. There were piles of dead bugs under the chairs, around the buildings, in the pool. So gross! We had to spend a little more time on the beach and a little less time at the pool because you just couldn't get away from them. Does anyone know if they are always a problem this time of year? We would love to go back in early June, but not if we have to deal with those.
