Marvel Day at Sea

I've only cruised on Carnival other than DCL so I'm not familiar with the others, but do the other cruise lines do a pre-sailing booklet like that?

The only other cruise line I've been on that sent a booklet was Oceania. We got a nice one for our med cruise in 2012.

I am new to DCL. Is there any new information in the booklets? We are going on a MDAS on 2/18/18.

TIA!
Not really. It's more a compilation (all in one place) of your cruise info: dates of cruise, room #, people on the reservation, emergency contact numbers, excursion/activity bookings.

It also has your luggage tags for the cruise.

Unfortunately there isn't. We're still just as much in the dark as before. I'll. Do a full trip report when we return though.

Thank you both! Looking forward to the trip report as we can book on ship activities beginning on 12/4.

I'll. Do a full trip report when we return though.

I'll be very excited to hear your trip report. I hope Disney does an awesome job with Marvel Day at Sea and makes it something extra special.
From the descriptions I've read and from the Stan Lee video where he is calling all the hero's asking to join the cruise I'm excited!
Hope y'all have a great time!

I'm so impatient for Marvel trip reports and photos! We're on an April one.

Me too. Ha ha I can't wait to hear about the show, meet and greet's, and the food. We are also hoping to go in April.

We are on the 10/14 out of NYC and just got my booklet last night....funny thing is it went to our 2 year old granddaughter's house, addressed to her and not to our house!!! Went for dinner last night and picked it up. I knew it had to be arriving soon and was wondering why it didn't come. Just thought it funny as I am obviously the lead person on the reservation who planned, booked and paid for the cruise lol!!!

In less than a month, Marvel Day at Sea will debut on select cruises departing from New York City.

Marvel Day at Sea will host an impressive combination of immersive entertainment that will encourage guests to uncover their “hidden superhuman abilities.” Take a look at some of the highlights that await your family on this special day of your cruise vacation:

  • Family Costume Celebration
Guests are invited to bring their most heroic (or villainous) costumes on the cruise. During this special celebration that will take place in the atrium of the ship, families are encouraged to dress up in Marvel-themed groups.
  • Super Hero Training for Kids
For young heroes-in-training, Marvel-themed games, activities and arts and crafts will be offered throughout the day in Marvel’s Avengers Academy. Super Heroes like Spider-Man, Black Widow, Thor, and Hawkeye will teach kids the true qualities of being a hero. Kids can enjoy interactive experiences such as secret agent training, learn the path to becoming worthy with Thor, and hone their reflexes, speed, and intellect with Spider-Man.
  • Film Screenings
Exclusive at-sea screenings of favorite films from the Marvel Cinematic Universe including the newest theatrical releases, as well as viewings of the Disney XD shows: Marvel’s Avengers Assemble, Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. The newest Marvel cinematic feature, Thor: Ragnarok, debuts onboard November 3, the same day as in theaters on land.
  • Marvel Trivia
Kids and families are invited to show off their Marvel knowledge and enjoy friendly competition during trivia games, covering courageous heroes and fun facts from the Marvel Universe. If you’re new to Marvel or you just need to brush up a bit, join in a session that will cover the basics of the Marvel Universe so you can stay up-to-speed during the entire event.
  • Fun with Mickey and Friends
Classic Disney characters are getting in on the action too! Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Pluto, Chip, and Dale will be dressing up to honor their favorite Marvel Super Heroes, and young cruisers won’t want to miss this opportunity to have some fun and dance with the gang up on deck.
Additionally, there will be many opportunities for meeting-and-greeting with some of the most powerful Marvel Super Heroes and Villains such as an interactive show that will take place inside the Walt Disney Theatre with Doctor Strange. Guests will also be able to learn how to draw Super Heroes like Spider-Man, Captain, Iron Man, and Groot and even take a quiz to see which Marvel comic is the perfect one for you.

You can also meet and hear behind-the-scenes stories from some of Marvel’s animation, game, and publishing insiders. This action-packed day will feature an extraordinary evening deck show like you’ve never seen before. More details on that are coming so be sure to stay tuned.

Marvel Day at Sea premieres on select 7- and 8-night Disney Cruise Line sailings from New York this fall, and returns on select 5-night Western Caribbean cruises from Miami in early 2018.

Didn't mention anything about fireworks....I thought for some reason (probably heard speculation here) that there were fireworks again on MDAS.

I know! I read the part about the Disney Characters dressed up for the day and I got so excited.
I've been trying to guess which Disney character will go as which Marvel character... Captain America Mickey? Hulk Donald? Black Widow Minnie? Too fun.
And if you go to the official Disney Cruise Marvel Day at Sea web site it does mention fireworks under "Entertainment."

STUNT SHOW SPECTACULAR
Families assemble for a nighttime show where more than a dozen of your favorite Marvel Super Heroes—and villains—come together for a grand deck-side extravaganza featuring pyrotechnics and fireworks.

I thought, and not 100% sure about this, but in some of the promotional stuff on the website, or could have been the email from DCL, that is said Marvel day would have fireworks.

MJ, for last years cruise that was rerouted to Canada, did DCL give you any compensation at all? Some people in my cruise group were asking about that.

My family and parents are on the October 6th cruise and shoreside concierge contacted us the other day about the meet-n-greets. Here's what's available to pre-book:

The following meet & greets may be pre-booked for the Marvel Day at Sea:

· HEROIC ENCOUNTERS – MISSION: NEW YORK – In this group meet & greet, you’ll have the opportunity to meet with some of your favorite Marvel Heroes from the New York City area, including Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Black Panther!
· HEROIC ENCOUNTER: GROOT – This meet & greet will allow you the chance to meet with Groot – one of the Guardians of the Galaxy!

Both are offered on the October 12th which is the official Marvel Day at Sea but on the 7th they also have the Mission: New York being offered in the morning.

I was told that the bookings will open on September 21st. I would think that date is for all Marvel cruises who have their online activity booking window already open

They offered to refund completely if we cancelled but since we decided to go ahead I think we got an onboard credit but I really can't remember!!! Let me check with my friend and see if she remembers.

It will be our first time on a Disney Cruise so we won't be able to book the Character Meet and Greets until 75 days out. I'll be interested to hear from others how quickly they fill up. It would be depressing to miss out on those if they get all filled up before we have a chance to sign-up.

Also do we know if you can reserve both meet and greets or do you have to choose between Groot and the New York crew? (Also anyone else find it funny they say Black Panther is from NYC)

I was able to book both Groot and the New York crew.
