Medals for 5ks?

My son saw the medal for the rebel challenge and thought it was awesome and said he'd like to run the 5k. Are the 5k medals in the same league? Can you push a jogging stroller with your baby in it? Are there age limits for running the 5k? Do the kids races have cool medals?

The medals for the smaller races are nice, but, I'll be honest, the tougher the medal, the more "blingy" it becomes.

Regarding the strollers: https://www.rundisney.com/disneyworld-marathon/runner-info/

For everyone's safety, selfie sticks, baby joggers, strollers, baby carriers, baby backpacks, skates, scooters, bicycles, skateboards, canes, crutches, walkers, walking sticks, and animals of any kind are prohibited from the course. Violators will be removed from the course and transported to the finish line area.

So, the quick answer is no.

For age limits, for the 5k, all entrants must be at least 5 years old, and can run on his or her own. 10k is 10 years old, Halfs are 14, and full is 18. The website for more information is here: https://www.rundisney.com/disneyworld-marathon/registration/ This one is specific to Marathon weekend, but all the other races have the same age limits.

The kids races have plastic medals but some are cool.

5K is 5 and up and must be able to finish the distance on their own.

Absolutely no jogging strollers are allowed. Altough it is 5+ i have seen on more than one occasion runners sneak babies onto the course in ergo or similar holders. I would not suggest it though as if they decide to enforce their own rules you will get in trouble.

Next year's medals will likely be different, but this gives you an idea of what to expect. I would say that the 5K medals are up there with the longer race and challenge medals, but likely a bit smaller. The kids race medallions are a softer rubber material, normally a little more colorful than the other medals (I personally think that they always do a great job with the kids race medallions, but I have read that sometimes the kiddos are disappointed that it's not a "real" medal. YMMV on that one).

To expand on the stroller with a baby - as others have said, this is no longer allowed. Disney used to allow this years ago and then, I think, as the races grew, took the option away. You will understand why when you actually do the race - these races are crowded, and going through the parks means that there are portions with narrow pathways. I believe it is a course crowding and safety issue - safety of other runners having to dodge a stroller and safety of the kiddo in the stroller (because what if someone knocks into the stroller when you're running?).

For the 5K (as said above, 5 years and up), keep in mind that it starts VERY early. A 6AM start means you and kiddo will need to be at the starting area by 5AM. The kids races also have an age limit, in case that is something you end up doing. That is 8 years and under.

Thanks for the pictures of the medals and all the info. That really helps.

We were trying to see if there was a way the whole family could run the 5k. But it seems like no with the 3 year old and a one year. I guess in 4 years...
