Never used the DDP before. We have 7 members in our group spread out over 3 rooms. All 3 are booked under the same 1 person organizing. A couple of questions:

1) Would all of our Disney dining meals show up on all of our magic bands? ex 7 adults over 7 days = 49 meals table service credits OR would it show as meals per room?
and on the same line....

All of us have the regular plan on the DDP but if just one room did the deluxe plan, would all the meals show so everyone could share in the extra meals?

It is per room but we were allowed to use up all the credits on one room then move onto the 2nd room we only had one server who made us use the 3 credits from one room and one from the other band (we were all on the same plan 3 people in 2 rooms both rooms had deluxe plan and mostly ate together but not always the only issue was at Tusker House breakfast and enough people since then have had no issue I think we just got a server on a bad day)

Each room would get it's own separate plan. So Bob and Sue in Room 100 would only see the credits for their room on their band. Pete and Ginger in room 101, would see their's, and so on.

Only the people in the room that had the DxDP assigned to it would have visibility and use of the credits. That said, if Bob and Sue and the DxDP on their room and too the remaining guests in different rooms out to dinner, Bob and Sue could pay for their meals with the DxDP. If the guests in the other two rooms went off on their own, they could not use the DxDP unless Bob or Sue wanted to loan out their Magic Band for an evening (couldn't do this in the parks).

Each room gets the meals, per person per day.... all the meal show up on each of the members of the room magic bands...

With being able to share credits, it opens up new options to explore....

My friends do this when they come... here's the run down... I just finished helping her plan for this year the whole family is coming this trip .. They will be here 9 nights....

Room 1 - Will be my Friend and her DH, and their one unmarried son ( who is in the Navy and will only be with them for 5 or 6 days, then he heads on to his next station) .... on the the DDXDP - 3 TS meals per day per person... 3 meals X 3 people - 9 meals a day X 9 nights = 81 Table service meal - 2 snacks per day per person, 2 snacks X 3 people is 6 snacks a day - 6 snacks X 9 nights = 54 snacks... Plus a refillable mugs - 3
So total for this room is 81 Table service meals and 54 snacks.... Note: even though their son is leaving earlier, you still have to pay for the 9 nights...

Room 2 - Their - oldest DD, her DH, and 2 kids both are over 9 so ( 4 Disney Adults) - on the DQSDP - 2 quick service meal X 4 people = 8 meals a day X 9 nights = 72 quick service meals, 2 snacks per person per day, 2 X 4 = 8 snacks X 9 nights = 72 snacks , 4 refillable mugs
For a Total for this room is 72 quick service meals, and 72 snacks

Room 3 - Their oldest DS, his DW, and 1 child over 9 - and 1 child under nine, and 1 child under 3 - So 3 Disney adults, 1 kids meal, and one kid under the age for the dinning plan... on the DQSDP - 2 quick service x 3 Disney adults= 6 meals a day x 9 nights= 54 meals, 2 quick service kids meals per day X 9 is 18 kids meals - 2 snacks per person X 4 people = 8 snack per day x 9 nights = 72 snacks - 4 refillable mugs
Total for this room is 54 adult meals, 18 kids meals, and 72 snacks

Room 4 - Their - youngest DD, and her DH, and their twins under 9 - on the DQSDP - 2 quick service meals X 2 adults = 4 meals X 9 nights = 36 quick service meals, 2 kids quick service meals X 2 kids per day is 4 kids meals X 9 nights - 36 kids meals . 2 snacks per day X 4 people = 8 snack per day X 9 nights = 72 snacks - 4 refillable mugs...
Total for this room - 36 adult quick service meals, 36 kids quick service meals, and 72 snacks...

They are going to use the Table service for character meals, and TS they are not doing any 2 TS credits this trip... This will be the first time that they are all together in about 5 or 6 years at Christmas so they are super excited...

We did this about a month ago. It was actually cheaper for us to upgrade one room to deluxe compared to getting standard dining for both.

It can get hectic tracking to make sure the paying member is always from the dining room (oops!) but if done properly then you get to use the meals wherever whenever. The disadvantage is less snacks if you’re going during Food and Wine.

One other thing we found, when using quick service, they always pull from the “kids” TS. Not sure if that was intentional or not. Although realistically we didn’t notice any distinction otherwise, a CM did show us that the PoS does distinguish who is and isn’t on the dining plan. So try not to abuse the kids TS for adults.

We are going with 2 rooms. 4 in one room (2 adults, 2 kids) 8 in the other room ( 6 disney adults, one kid and one baby). Can we get dining plan for the one room with 4 and share credits with everyone? So we can use 8 adult and 3 kid TS credits on one meal? And can you convert kids TS to QS use? We were just going to do OOP for everything , but now wondering if this would work.

edited to add, don't even know if this is allowed. We have never had this family set up before and four weeks out, I started thinking.......

You can, but the large number may cause a little hesitation at point of sale. We've not seen anyone report back using only 2 adult credits to purchase 8 adult meals at one time.
The other thing to factor in is which plan are you talking about. If you just do the regular DDP, the kid TS credits can only be used for kid TS meals, so you may not have enough adult credits to take care of all the adults at more than one TS meal. The kid TS credits can be used for QS meals (and that could be adult or kid QS), but you would probably have to use all the QS credits first to make it easier.
If you get the DxDDP, then you can use the credits for adult or kid meals and TS or QS meals. This would give you 12 credits per night to share among the 11 people needing to pay for meals. Having the DxDDP would probably make the chances of hesitation at point of sale a bit less too.

We had only planned one TS at CP. I thought since the family make up is grandparents, parents , kids. The adults can take turns going out for a TS without kids to use up TS credits. But it sounds like a lot of work and not knowing IF it would work, better to forget the idea. The CP is the day before we leave, so if that meal got shot down, we'd have lots of credits to use really fast.

Thanks for the input.

:offtopic: I know this is the Restaurants board, but is this ,part of the group in a DVC Villa that can sleep nine?

We will have a room at BLT (sleeps 9), and then BCV and SSR, both sleep 8 but can have a 9th person but no bedding or towels will be provided. ( we are hoping waitlists come thru for BLT)

The rest of the family will be in a studio (4) at BLT for the week.

But we decided not going to risk it and worry about having issues with it.

For future reference, it works fine. It’s best to upgrade one room to Deluxe Dining so it can be shared without bias since Kids and Adults are tracked the same.m, and the TS can be converted to QS without an issue. It gets a little more hectic when you’re using the other ones.

We’ve used our dining plan to pay for large groups, even when they weren’t staying on property and have never had an issue.

Thanks for the information, but we didn't want to do the Deluxe plan since we didn't want many TS. We have a 2,3,4,7,10,and 14 year old on this trip. I don't see too many pleasant TS meals with that group. I love them, but I've seen them in action.
