Next BB & Potential AP Question...

My family is considering AP passes and I'm wondering whether the DisBoards clan thinks considering bounce back offers should weigh into the decision...

We have a trip booked for the beginning of August and would like to go again next July. The price of APs has gone up considerably since we had them last, but we'd come out slightly ahead with the APs because we like parkhoppers, photopass, dining/merch discounts, and will have a child turning 10/"Disney adult" by the second trip. The current BB is a room discount, with the next likely a dining offer (which requires a ticket purchase). While we don't *need* the dining plan, we do enjoy having it.

Thoughts...? TIA!

Both scenarios yielded the desired discounts for this year, but it’s a lot of *ifs* and there’s absolutely no one here that will be able to tell you if the dates and discounts will be the same as this year.

For the AP discount, we’ve seen good AP discounts in July the past two years. But, discounts for 2021 will depend on how well bookings for 2021 will be going. For example, some of the revenue management strategies that have been popping up recently with respect to AP discounts are weekends at rack rate. But, yes, we have seen good AP discounts in July and an AP is often a good call with the entrance, MM, discounts, etc., if you have two longish trips or 3 shorter trips.

For the Bounceback, we have seen offers dropping in August that have included FD dates in July of the following year. This past year, the offer dropped August 1st. But, in previous years, we’ve also seen this offer drop later in August. Also, July dates were minimal during the last FD public discount.

All of that is to say, there is really no way of knowing for sure either way - we don’t know if the BB FD will be there when you are there in early August, and if it will include your July dates, and we certainly don’t know how strong bookings will be in July 2021, which will drive how good the offers are and how much availability there will be for offers.

In addition to the points vinotinto made above, there is also the unknown about WDW’s 50th celebration. For WDW’s 25th & DL’s 50 & 60th, the celebrations kicked off 2 months before the actual anniversary date. If that pattern holds true for this 50th, that would put the kickoff sometime in July. That could potentially fill lots of rooms & decrease the available discounts.
