No hybrids at the RV show :(

We went to the Austin RV Expo yesterday specifically to look at hybrids and/or those expandables with the hard side slide out bed. They had NONE. They had maybe 4 popup campers and 10 varieties of tiny 2 people types that are so popular right now but no hybrids. The Jayco rep said "yeah, my hybrid sales have gone way down".

Which seems silly.

Of course, I had ulterior motives: I wanted my family to fall in love with a hybrid because I wanted one ;)

We did really really really like a bunk model with a murphy bed and u dinette, and the minnie winnie.

Find a Rockwood / Flagstaff dealer and look at the Roo / Shamrock.

They are nice hybrids!

We had a Max-Lite 24RS back in 2005 and it had the rear queen hard side slide out.

I loved that trailer and It took us on MANY trips without an issue, but I would not recommend the hard slide. I would rather have the hybrid. Love to open those windows!!

tiny 2 people types .
We love our trailer, the tiny 2 person type. :cool1:

At shows in the past we have seen some nice hybrids, one last year had a huge open floor in the middle. If one has a pet most campgrounds to not allow them, since the pet can get loose. Just have to keep searching, the perfect trailer is out there. :surfweb:

I guess every show focuses on different things. Our show in StL didn't have a lot of hybrids, but there were some. Also a few popups and a bunch of tear drop trailers. Then the usual TT, 5ers, and about every type of MH out there.

That's where I found my next camper- I sat in a nice Tiffin Allegro Red that was calling my name.

Now that you mention it I don't recall seeing any hybrids at the RV show we went to in Mobile a while back either.

Yup- we skipped the Tiffins haha. There were enough campers that were more than our house!

I kept telling the kids "yes- that is the camper Dad and I will buy when y'all are gone" They didn't think it was funny because they wanted us to buy one for them.

I laughed at one Jayco because it was 99% the same as the one we just looked at...price was $1000 more... for a BIG SCREEN TV on the wall.

We're going to the Milwaukee show tomorrow - I'll have to report back and let you know what we see.

That said, as mentioned early, a Forest River dealer is your friend in this. We started with a ROO and were very happy with it. We didn't own it long, as we knew all along we would want to step up into a hard-sided travel trailer, but it was a nice unit at a reasonable weight and price for our first rig.
