Offered in Japanese only

Hi all,

I noticed the Japanese version of Disney Tokyo had different pictures and things than the English version so with Google Translate I came across several services and things which are only offered in Japanese only. Maybe interesting for people who might speak (a little) Japanese, but prefer the use of the English website, or people here wondering what is (not) available in the parks. Some things I can understand and I don't really mind, but others it's a shame it's not available in English as well.

Put your cursor on the castle and click on the picture on the bottom far right
- Tour
Pity, would always be interested in these.
- Drawing classes
I was surprised to learn they had 2, a basic & advanced class, both against payment.
- Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique
In the Disneyland Hotel. They apparently doing the princess hairstyles instead of the regular bun you see in the US parks

Put your cursor on the castle and click on the 'adventure' picture.
I think this is a blog and general information on the park, going by a new theme every month.
- Downloadable wallpapers

Put your cursor on the Mickey medal, the top three pictures are not available in English
- A separate page dedicated to Disney Mama's.
I have no idea what's going on this website, but I want to know! (and I'm not even a Mama!)

- Separate page on Fastpass

Really wonder why this is not in English as well... are they hiding tips & tricks from the foreigners ;) the English site does have a section on Fastpass, but not as elaborate and hidden between the FAQs.
- Separate page dedicated to birthday celebrations

Put your cursor on the hotel icon
- Weddings
- Vacation packages

I really wonder what they are offering, just going by the pictures some look so interesting!

Also the restaurant/shopping sections look more elaborate. I wonder what else there is. Now I wish even more I was fluent in Japanese.

Hmmmmm. A backstage tour - that would be very interesting, even if the actual tour was in Japanese.

I'm planning a trip for next year which will coincide with my husband's birthday, so it would be good to know what they offer for birthday celebrations. Maybe I'll try emailing them in English to see if I can find more information.

Ah yes I am finding conflicting info in Eng/Jap websites. As much as I LOVE Japan, they really support their own people more than foreigners. I have a friend in Japan helping with Vacation Packages but they ARE PRICEY!!!

This package is 2 nights at a hotel and 3 day passport. You get:
4 fast passes per person split over the 3 days
Priority seating show passes for - Harbor show, Christmas Wish and the Christmas Fantasy Show
2 breakfast and 1 dinner meal at hotel restaurant

I was super keen on this until I found out the costing. We already have Okura Hotel so I'd use this hotel for the package, it worked out to be 60,000~110,000 yen per person. (for 2 nights). I assume the ~ could be the difference between child and adult. It is out of our budget. But might be in someone elses?

Sorry don't know why I said backstage. It should be a regular tour of 90 minutes about the park.

I will edit my first post.

Ah. Cool. That's not quite as enticing then! Maybe one day I'll get to do a tour that goes "behind the scenes" (as long as it doesn't ruin too much of the Disney magic).

I think you should, it's a lot of fun, I did Backstage Magic, Future World Undiscovered and Wild Africa Trek (sort of backstage) in WDW, Walk in Walts Footsteps in DL and the one in Disneyland Paris. I never think of it as spoiling the magic, but enhancing it. I love to see how animatronics work or seeing how the costumes are made. Seeing the Animal Kingdom parade from up close was very cool. The rest is just fun information and backstory on the park and Walt.

The most 'ruined' my magic got was on the Future World Undiscovered tour, where we went through the costume department and into hair & make up. Seeing the princesses getting ready was no problem, as it was just a glimpse. But when later we walked backstage in Epcot, we saw an Aurora returning from France, in full hair and make up looking beautiful, except the sweatpants and sweater she was wearing :P I thought it was one of the weirdest things I've ever seen, my Aurora-loving friend is still traumatized ;-)

I see some info are offered in English pages too.

Maybe Japanese pages are often updated with new pictures and such, but not the English pages? WDW's Japanese pages are slightly different from their English pages too. Tokyo Disney site offers Chinese, Korean, Thai, and Indonesian...constantly updating them all may not be practical for them?

Tokyo Disney Resort is very much catered to the locals so the Japanese page carries the most updated and detailed information. For the most part, online reservations are carried only in Japanese. However, it is possible to call TDR and communicate with an English-speaking personnel who may be able to direct your requests.
