Official February 2018 Rental Car Thread

Autoslash notified me my price dropped by 25.00 so I jumped on and rebooked. Price has since gone up again. So right now I have an 8 day rental w/Alamo (standard size but will get full size due to them only having full sized) for 239.31 and I used Ebates to book it so I will get an additional 2.5% back. I should have booked it through priceline because they are offering 7% cash back but the price went up so I can't now.

Looked around and didn't see a Feb 2018 car rental thread. I booked for Princess weekend (2/22 - 2/26) this morning. Pretty high right now, but better than anything I can find for January.

Was hoping Costco's prices would drop as February is approaching but just checked my 2/3-2/12 dates and prices have increased a lot! I thought this time of year would be slow and would have low prices but apparently not.

Not super happy here either, 10 days $325..............much higher on Costco now though.

I previously had a rental with Alamo for $279 for 2/10-2/17. Tonight went on hotwire and got same size vehicle (full size) through hotwire for $206.00 all fees and taxes included went ahead and booked paid in advance. The rental ends up being with Hertz. I am pleased with the rate!

I have two reservations booked with Alamo - one for a minivan and one for a standard. I'm hoping there will be minivans in the standard aisle when I get there. Do I do the online check in for BOTH cars prior to my arrival at MCO or do I just go directly to the aisles to see what cars they have first? If they have a minivan in the standard aisle, then I do the online check in for the standard and cancel the minivan reservation? I booked thru Costco if that makes any difference. Thanks!

I am looking for that answer too.

Costco prices dropped a bit. I was able to reserve a premium crossover with MCO Alamo for 9 days (2/3-2/12) for $447. I previously had a minivan reserved for $509.

Could I ask what rental company this was?
I have been looking at prices for 2/26 to 3/5 and all the prices are so high...

Thank you

Hi, I always use Dollar (Express). The rates dropped considerably in the past week. I reserved a mid-size from 2/28-3/4 for $159 (not great, but in the range of what I usually pay).

I just put in your dates (2/26, noon - 3/5, noon) for a standard car. Total price = $244.65.

That’s a good base rate. There is a better coupon for $30 off though.

Looks like some better rates this morning on Alamo. No such luck on national. Now I have to decide on whether I pay more with National and try to keep my executive status this year. Ugh.

A lot of activity today on Alamo. I’m at $382 for a 16 day reservation for a mid size suv. Feb 5-21
