Overbooked on-site hotels?

I'm making last-minute plans for a 4-night stay at HRH in April, and Universal Vacations is telling me all on-site hotels are booked for my travel dates. However, Expedia, Quikbook, etc. say rooms are available. Should I be concerned about using one of these sites to book my room? I'm worried we'll arrive and be told that the hotel is overbooked. Any experience with this?

Thanks!

This MAY explain it. Expedia et al reserves/buys a block of rooms for X date. If you call Universal directly, they cannot sell you a room in the block for X date because they do not know what Expedia has done with those rooms. Expedia has until a certain date to release rooms from the block back to Universal so Universal can sell them.

Even the reservationist at Loews will tell you to try one of the agencies.
