Please Share your Ride Evacuation Stories!

We were evacuated off Jungle Cruise a few weeks ago. We were having a nice ride and suddenly, as we approached the hippos, the boat made a loud noise and abruptly stopped. Somehow the boat had “jumped” off the track.

I don’t think the skipper was driving too fast, so we really couldn’t figure out why we came off the track!

The skipper pulled out his gun and shot off 6 shots. This helps alert all the other boats that they need to stop immediately. Then, he got on his walkie talkie and called for help.

After about 30 minutes another boat came with a bunch of CM’s on it and an engineer came on our boat to see if he could get the boat back on the track. He was unsuccessful, so they needed to call in the divers to fix it.

We all evacuated from our broken boat onto the other boat and finished our ride. All together it was about a 45 minute delay, but we just had a good time relaxing and talking to all the other passengers.

The ride was shut down for quite a few hours after that while they got it all fixed and running.

We have been evacuated off Splash mountain twice. Just recently- Sunday April 15 when the ride came up from refurb. I have some great photos. I will try and upload...
And once before on our LAST trip to DL in Dec 2014

I remember getting evacuated off of the People Mover. we were over the Autopia area. when the cast member opened the door to let us out he told us to walk to the exit from the direction he came from. then he continued on to the next car. we walked along the People Mover track until we got to what is now the Star Wars Launch Bay. just where the track entered the building there was a door by an exit sign that led to stairs that emptied out near the Autopia restrooms.

they have different procedures now. when we were evacuated from Buzz Lightyear Astroblaster they don't let you walk out unescorted, they keep everyone together.

also got evacuated from Pinocchio. been to the reject track for Space Mountain.

I've been evacuated from Monster's Inc. and Buzz Lightyear. On Monsters, when the ride stopped and the lights came up, we immediately started taking photos. It was a few minutes later before there was an announcement saying that taking photos was not allowed. Oops! We were walked off of that one, stopping at each vehicle to add more people to our conga line, then just went out through the exit. Buzz was similar but we were walked out near the entrance. The CM pointed out the target on Zurg's chest that is worth high points but I think everyone already knows about that. Never got any passes or anything for either experience.

We were on this boat too! We were in the front with our 3 boys. It was kind of fun to see the evacuation process. Later we were getting off IJ and saw some people in diving gear heading out to get the boat back on track. We appreciated the 3 anytime FP and I thought the whole situation was handled well from the guests and the CMs.

We've been evacuated twice. The first time was on Alice in Wonderland. We were stopped in the room with all the singing flowers. Thank goodness the audio shut off, LOL. There were a few announcements over the loud speaker to stay put & we would be evacuated. After about 20 minutes, a CM came and installed some safety cables and we were able to walk out. We ended up exiting through a door that led outside into the middle of a parade! It was great. The CM gave us front-of-the-line passes for any 2 rides.

The second time was on Pinocchio. We stopped at the very end of the ride in the little room that has all the wood carvings, clocks, etc. We took a bunch of pictures and video. It was neat to see all the cute little things that you pass by too quickly during the ride. After just a few minutes a CM came and walked us out the regular exit.

It's kind of fun being evac'd because you sometimes get a peek behind the scenes.
It's funny that both of my evacuation stories have already been shared on this thread. I have also been evacuated off Pinocchio from this same spot!

Crazy that we were both on the same boat! We were at the back with our 3 kids!

I've been evacuated off Splash, Alice and most recently RSR. We were right before the race so got to walk back right through the whole inside portion of the ride. I found it a bit stupid that they wouldn't let anyone take any pictures. Only a year before my brother was evacuated off splash and videoed the whole thing without a problem. It sorta spoils the experience when someone keeps shouting no pictures! No pictures! Then instead of it being a fun experience it becomes a bit sour....rather like being in the Sistine Chapel, not at all enjoyable!

Great stories. My husband and I were evac'ed off Splash at DL when it was fairly new. We were on the big lift hill and it was interesting getting out of the boat when you're at a backwards angle. I'm not sure I could do it as well 20+ years later.

My husband and girls got walked off Expedition Everest at WDW. They were on the hill where you go down backwards. There was a mom there freaking out because her two sons were on it alone and they were being evacuated. I assured her they were right next to my family and would be OK. My girls thought it was the coolest thing ever... they had to walk down a lot of stairs.

Another WDW trip my oldest daughter and I were on Splash. DH waited with the other two who didn't want to ride because the line was short and we thought we'd be on and off quickly... until going up the very first part of the ride (don't even think there's a drop after, just a lift to get you to where the ride starts) and one of the guys in our boat jumped out. He clearly did not want to be on the ride and couldn't handle the fear of dropping and he just got out, opened a door and walked off. The ride was immediately stopped and we had to sit there for a very long time until they got it going again. This was before they put in the lap bars, but then we knew why they put in the lap bars...

My son is developmentally disabled and gets upset when a ride stops. I try to explain to him that this isn't a bad thing, it's a great opportunity for a new adventure and that we'll get to experience the ride in a new way!
Not sure he buys it but it usually ends well. pixiedust:
