Port Canaveral Area

I haven't been to the area in over 10 yrs and that was just to get off the shuttle and onto the Ship. This time we will be staying overnight prior to cruise (Fantasy 9/27/2014). What can you tell me about the area? Shopping, restaurants, rental car parking? Besides the pool at the hotel, what else can we do for a few hrs?

We're on the Fantasy the week before (9/20/14) coming in the night before and would also like to know more about the area. We promise to tidy up the ship for you before we leave mrsoc.

There isn't much in that area but there are some nice restaurants on the water where you can watch the cruise ships come and go.
Also your hotel should let you park your car there for the cruise and take you to the ship.
Shopping is lacking in that area.
