Reach Out And Find Your Happily Ever After! Our Engagement Trip! *updated 1/14* - New TR Link!

I tend to fall off the DisBoards between trip planning, and now I’m back planning our 2021 trip (our last trip being 2018). I was so excited to come back to see your 2018 trip report complete with the start of a 2019 report!
Hoping to see you soon for more updates! They’re my favorite. I love the relatable GIFs and the honest food reviews.

I'm so glad you were able able to rearrange your plans in order to get to Universal! You all look so cute and it's great to hear you all had a nice time, especially Fran as it was her first! :goodvibes

Alison!!

Thanks! Our friends are huge Harry Potter fans, so there was no way we were letting a little sickness get in the way of those plans!! I'm so glad everyone rallied quite quickly and we got to experience everything in the parks, it could've been much worse / gone on for much longer!

It's good to hear the lost phone situation was resolved fairly quickly. Boo for Slinky breaking down but I'm glad you guys got to go back to ride it. I'm really looking forward to hearing about your reactions!

Oh no, sorry for leaving you hanging for those reactions...!! :rotfl:We loved Slinky! I'd avoided reading much about it so I thought the ride was over when we came to that first stop (we were sat in the back) What a nightmare when it breaks down though, sooo many disappointed people!!

I'm the same way. I love my old favorites, but when I do venture out and try new places I am usually so happy I did!

Me too!! I'm awful for just sticking to my favourite things, but new Disney restaurants rarely disappoint!

And there were a few folks who, for one reason or another didn't or couldn't make it... so you got saddled with carrying 20kg of food around for the rest of the night. Sorry! I only thought of the inconvenience after!

Pedro!!!

This was not an inconvenience AT ALL, it was fantastic!!! Hahaha, we did have so much! I was enjoying it for months!!

I think it's... not a dessert? I don't know!

My unpopular opinion - strawberry soup is gross :crazy2:

Sure. I'm part French, so that works.

Are you really! I should named you Pierre instead of Pedro :rolleyes1

OMG! What is that?!?!? :lmao:

I love that I left you with that gif in your brain, and never returned to explain myself :rotfl: it's from a really crazy show here in the UK called The Mighty Boosh - it's a bit too crazy for me but it does have some iconic moments that everybody here seems to know and quote :thumbsup2

Now listening to Do I Wanna Know?
It sounds familiar, but maybe it's just the riff? Not sure.

Ooh yes that's a very famous Arctic Monkeys song you might have heard it before!!

Right down to the socks!

We are very committed.

I bet you were the only ones!

:rolleyes1

We were those guys dashing to Harry Potter :sad2:

So get one. Or is that a firm "No" from Hymie?

I'm still working on this! I really want a smushed-faced cat. He's a dog person though, he's trying to convince me to get a Newfoundland

I love the queue and the first half of the ride and absolutely despise the last half... or the "home planet" part. Yuck.

Yes I know gross what even is that?! They should overhaul that section! But I'd be worried that if they were doing that, they'd end up just scrapping the whole ride...

chocolate > pasties.

Yes correct.

I'm looking forward to the new show. (No, not the temporary Epcot Forever)

Me too! But when will it debut..... :hyper:

And now I'm just starting The View From The Afternoon as I finish commenting. :)

This is old school Arctic Monkeys from the first album, which was by far the best!!

Also I am anxiously anticipating the engagement details (like everybody else) - congratulations! I'm also getting married this year and the only reason we didn't get engaged in front of the Castle is because I told my fiance I would be ugly crying SO HARD and it would not be cute (I was right). Feel free to vent about anything wedding-planning-related btw, especially since this year is so :upsidedow

So sorry to keep you waiting!! It's all written out and ready to go! Ow bless you haha! I know I thought I'd be self-conscious of my reaction if it was in front of a million people! I always wanted it in a quiet little spot that we could go back to, and he did brilliantly!!

Did your wedding go forward this year? I really hope so for you, ours got moved from September 2020 to August 2021... Hopefully things will be better by then!

Wow - what a busy day! Made me tired reading about it. But, it sounded like great fun minus the phone incident and SDD going down. I haven't been to Universal in many years - pre-Harry Potter. We need to take a longer WDW trip so we have time to check it out. Anxiously waiting for the BIG moment!

I think we were running on that Disney adrenaline the entire trip!! Yeah totally, if I took shorter trips I'd find it really difficult to break away from the Disney bubble!! It's just kind of a "thing" for people here in the UK to take 10 day - 2 week trips, I guess because the flights are looong and pricey... I'm not sure!

I think that's everyones first reaction! There is just SO MUCH going on you dont know where to go first!

Totally! I remember my first trip as an adult with Jamie in 2012 there was SO MUCH to do, we didn't know where to start!! Thank god I decided to spend all of my spare time learning absolutely everything about WDW so that I could organise my thoughts a bit better :cool2: :rotfl:

Um, after what he pulled at Star Tours, I would have put my money on him!

I know what was that!!! There are people like me who have TRAINED for YEARS to be the rebel spy, you don't just get it on your first try :snooty:

This is so suprising! I usually get the roasted chicken meal and it is SO MUCH FOOD. The portions for the other meals i've seen are massive as well.

Wow ok noted for next time!! Thanks for the tip!

WORST. FEELING. EVER. Stomach drops down to your butt and you're just like OH SHIIIIIII.....

We've all been there with losing a phone!! In my experience though I've had the stomach drops and the freak outs, and it's always just been in my bag or something

I wrote a full (and some would say witty and entertaining) reply which even included a gif of Johnny Wonka saying "I never thought we'd have so much in common" but it was rejected for "inappropriate elements" which I think goes to show that everybody agrees that the original is better..! 😆

Hahah amazing!! Oww I really wish it had worked! I have serious issues with the remake, I feel on the verge of writing a strongly worded letter to Tim Burton :snooty:

I'm a little late but really loving your report!

Congrats on your Engagement! Disney is the perfect place to get engaged.

Now that I'm caught up I'm hoping to stay on track. Looking forward to more of your adventures.

Thanks so much!! Sorry I completely disappeared, everything is written out and ready to post though!

Hope you're doing ok after the train-wreck that was 2020! :flower3:

I tend to fall off the DisBoards between trip planning, and now I’m back planning our 2021 trip (our last trip being 2018). I was so excited to come back to see your 2018 trip report complete with the start of a 2019 report!
Hoping to see you soon for more updates! They’re my favorite. I love the relatable GIFs and the honest food reviews.

Eek thank you so much that's so kind!! I'm back now with loads of updates ready to post! I can (finally!) finish this trip report and start my 2020 one! I think I was one of the last lucky mask-less ones who travelled to Disney in Feb 2020!

So exciting that you're going in 2021 for the first time in a few years! We hopefully will be too! When are you going? Do you think they will have finished some of the big projects for the 50th when you go?!

Day 8
Monday 11th February 2019

Part 1 - Universal, again!

Good Morning!
Only 3 full days left of our trip

Rob and Fran wanted to spend a little more time at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter before we go home, so we decided to go back there for the second day in a row!

Today we ditched the school uniforms and dressed up as ‘Death Eaters’
We wore all black, and we put temporary tattoos of the ‘dark mark’ on our arms!

50554172486_e68c93ea0d_c.jpg

They came out really well!

50554175786_7118f5299f_b.jpg

Here’s a photo of us all later in the day, so you can see our outfits!

50554308377_8e89a836f3_b.jpg

We got an Uber to Universal and entered the studios park at around 9:15am :cool1:

50554309187_6b2dda8afd_b.jpg

We went straight to the store at the front of the park because Rob needed to buy a belt, and I saw a shirt that I always want to buy for Jamie…
Jamie always says “Bello”, in the voice of Brian Badonde, who is a character on a British TV show called Facejacker

This is Jamie, summed up in a 3 second video…

So we all really thought this shirt was SO necessary for him.

50554175706_cac3763bc0_c.jpg

:rotfl:

Rob got his belt, and we joined the 30-minute line for Despicable Me.

50554175691_45092cb417_b.jpg

However after about 10 minutes they announced that it had broken down, and they didn’t know how long it would take to get it up and running again!
The exact same thing happened to us at Slinky Dog Dash last night, we were not having much luck.

We left the line and decided to get something delicious to eat from Starbucks.
Food is never disappointing!

50554306242_f8ffdf1ca0_b.jpg

I got the Starbucks version of a sausage and egg mcmuffin from McDonalds, wow I love them so much.
These are so tasty.

50554309052_94635b1935_b.jpg

All four of us had one of these, and a coffee each too.
I got my signature vanilla latte :cool2:
That really energised me for the day.

After breakfast we rode The Mummy twice, and got the front row both times :woohoo:

50553441303_b6e0d4be88_b.jpg

I love it!

We then strolled around the lake towards Springfield, and Jamie spotted one of his own kin!

50553441233_3d0b8be3a5_b.jpg

To quote myself, since it's been a while since I posted this:

Short backstory – you might have seen from our group chat that we sometimes call Jamie ‘The Gull’.
This originated from a time when the four of us were at our local cinema.
I was holding a mini brownie up near my face ready to eat, but I was distracted for a few seconds talking to Fran, and when I wasn’t looking Jamie SWOOPED IN and just wrapped his whole mouth around my brownie (and fingers) and snatched it from me :lmao:

Fran was completely outraged by this behaviour, and crowned him “THE GULL” :rotfl:
And now that’s all she calls him.
I haven’t heard her call him Jamie in months, he’s just “Gull” or “The Gull”.
Sometimes Gulliver.

:lmao:

50553441168_050cefa0b3_b.jpg

50554308762_450afd7b9f_b.jpg

When we arrived in Krustyland, Fran and I impulsively decided to ride Kang and Kodos’ Twirl ‘n’ Hurl

50554175386_a5921585c6_b.jpg

There were zero people in line!

50553440988_15f243e7f8_b.jpg

50554308472_f4f6f01385_b.jpg

Afterwards we all looked in the Kwik-e-mart, where we enjoyed this great t-shirt...
After our spinach poisoning the other day, we agreed with the sentiment wholeheartedly!

Day 8
Monday 11th February 2019

Part 2 - Even more Universal..!

We got some drinks from the Kwik-e-mart and enjoyed them out in the sunshine.

Rob told us that when he was at the register he considered getting a Flaming Moe’s, and the sales assistant said,

“In the show it sets on fire and everything.
…but ours is just orange.”

We found that funny.
When Rob told us outside Jamie was like,
“You’re telling me there isn’t FIRE inside this can?!?!”

:rotfl2:

tenor.gif

Once we’d finished our drinks we went to Diagon Alley, where Rob and Fran did some shopping, and I took a silly amount of photos.

50553440538_15f117ba14_b.jpg

50553440503_7006ae8815_b.jpg

We also headed down to Knockturn Alley where us Death Eaters belong…
Don't we look menacing... :teeth: :teeth:

50554308122_8edb815899_c.jpg

After thoroughly exploring Diagon Alley we headed towards the exit of the park, calling in a few more shops along the way.
We found this really cool place that was full of old movie posters, including signed Back to the Future and Breakfast Club posters.
Fran bought one for the movie Psycho.
She has it framed in her house and it looks great.

That's the singular version, right?!

50554307952_36b0949f9c_b.jpg

We said goodbye to Universal Studios…

50554174411_5ac5ff35fc_b.jpg

50554174381_e60d87c679_b.jpg

And hello to Islands of Adventure!

50554174361_7832906872_b.jpg

50554307797_6251b58dc9_b.jpg

We decided to go do the water rides in Islands of Adventure before heading back to the Beach Club, however Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls was closed for a long refurb, and Pop Eye’s was temporarily down!

50554174301_3e6cf2ed00_b.jpg

We went to Jurassic Park River Adventure, but Fran took one look at the plummet and decided it was hellfire, so she went to shop in Hogsmeade, while Jamie, Rob and I joined the line to ride!

50554307657_9793b67619_b.jpg

50554307602_ddc7cd579b_b.jpg

We were sat in the back row and we still got completely soaked!
:umbrella:

After the ride we went to meet Fran in Hogsmeade, and had a peek at the Hagrid’s Motorbike Adventure construction!

50554174086_d892abaf98_b.jpg

We then headed out of the park, stopping briefly to watch the parade.

50554172591_087b240f57_b.jpg

Goodbye Universal!
For real this time.

50554307482_0249f9e528_c.jpg

As we headed out through City Walk we were waving at the Bubba Gump Shrimp

50554174026_33bf66f741_b.jpg

Isn’t he so adorable :lovestruc
He was edging towards us as if he was reluctant to believe that anyone was actually paying attention to him :rotfl2:
He was waving and shuffling forward a couple of steps at a time apprehensively, he looked so cute.
Jamie said he’s his new favourite character :rotfl:

Day 8
Monday 11th February 2019

Part 3 - Epcot, DHS, and back to Epcot!

We got back to the Beach Club at around 3pm and everyone was sooo sleepy!
Fran had a nap in her room, Jamie and Rob went to play table tennis by the pool, and I decided to have a stroll around Epcot!
Because why not!
I have restless legs (plural) syndrome when I’m at Disney
Plus the Beach Club is the perfect location for spontaneous Epcot trips.

50554307437_5f1ab552e6_b.jpg

I moseyed around World Showcase and had a look in Mouse Gear.

50554173781_085423def5_b.jpg

50554307247_448844e774_b.jpg

I stopped to watch this show that was part of the Festival of the Arts, which was really impressive!

50554173696_9f7f86f9fc_b.jpg

DOG.

50554307042_6cb4827a49_b.jpg

On my way back through World Showcase I stopped at this Mosaic Canteen festival booth and got a Mediterranean Flatbread.
It was so good and a huge portion for a snack credit!

50554306102_cb3f772921_c.jpg

50554173586_2c2ffef0ff_b.jpg

I stood at a table that was set back from the main path, and ate my flatbread, people-watching and listening to the Epcot music :cloud9:

50553439458_46212f19d0_b.jpg

This guy gives me major anxiety…

50553439343_e6720d0f6d_b.jpg

As I passed through the France pavilion, I thought about how I’d eaten quite a lot right before our dinner reservation.
So I stopped by another festival booth and got a chocolate sponge cake :rotfl:

50553439263_8e94bfde05_b.jpg

This is the Moelleux Aux Chocolats Valrhona – molten chocolate cake with pure origin valrhona chocolates.
It was soooo good.
I don’t know if this is a British thing, but it reminded me of a dessert we used to have with school meals.
Yum and wow!
I didn’t tell Jamie I had eaten these two things, I didn’t want to be chastised about spoiling my dinner
Like the naughty child that I am.

I headed back to the Beach Club, and got changed and freshened up.
We had a lot of travelling back and forth to do this evening!

At 6:30pm we all got the boat over to Hollywood Studios to use our anytime fastpasses at Slinky Dog Dash!

50553439183_7a4ed452d2_b.jpg

50553439138_fa4be16082_c.jpg

This was very exciting as it was all of our first time EVER riding Slinky!

50554306712_a63f683f8b_b.jpg

We used two anytime fastpasses to ride it twice, and we asked for the back rows both times.
It was really fun!
It was a lot more thrilling than I thought it would be!
Maybe that was partly because we rode it at night, and we all know that rides are more fun in the dark :goodvibes
This video clip makes me laugh

50554175341_da9152a568_b.jpg

50554306047_96105574f3_c.jpg

50554173206_d571a85ff6_b.jpg

I was so glad we made time to go back to this after it broke down yesterday.
The ride had only been open for about 6 months at this point, so I had been so excited to ride it.
YAY Toy Story gang.

50553440963_d52fee000d_c.jpg

But we had no time to waste!
After two rides on Slinky we took the boat back to Epcot at around 7:45pm, and POWER WALKED around to our fastpass at Soarin’, which was ending very soon…!
We made it just in the nick of time!

InsubstantialBitterIndigobunting-size_restricted.gif

THEN immediately after Soarin’, we POWER WALKED BACK around World Showcase, to get to our 8:30pm dining reservation at Teppan Edo!

This was our first time eating there, it had really tickled Fran’s fancy on one of our many planning evenings back home :goodvibes
And I’m so glad because we loved it!
This was one of my favourite meals!
It’s so fun to interact with the chef, and watch him throw our food around

We got on really well with our chef and had some fun conversations with him.
At one point he even asked the boys about “popping the question” :scratchin :hyper:

Anyway, I had the shrimp and steak for my entrée!

50554306637_2bb22d25b9_b.jpg

And the green tea cake for dessert!

50554306577_76c37cc37e_b.jpg

Everything was so tasty but I was sooo full by dessert, I could only eat a few mouthfuls.
It definitely had nothing to do with that flatbread and chocolate cake I secretly ate a couple of hours ago :confused3

50554173026_8420d45bc2_b.jpg

We left the restaurant at 10:15pm and World Showcase was COMPLETELY empty!

50554172981_2247903a18_b.jpg

It seemed like we were the only people in the park, so we took the opportunity to get some photos!

50554172766_7d0e5263c2_b.jpg

These photo opportunities had such long lines during the day, so we jumped in while it was empty!

I love how similar we look in this picture below

After taking our time roaming around World Showcase we eventually made it back to the Beach Club and headed to bed!
Goodnight!

Part 1 - My two favourite meals!

Good morning!
Oh my goodness, I was so excited for today.
Today we had two dinner reservations at two of my favourite restaurants.
Lunch at Sanaa, and then dinner at California Grill!

:cool1:

WOO what a great day.
I love Disney restaurants.

First on the agenda was a quick trip to Animal Kingdom to ride Flight of Passage before lunch!

We arrived at 11am, and spotted the creepy tree lady.

50554339922_1ceb8fd5b5_b.jpg

We were rushing through a bit so I didn’t stop to take many photos, but Flight of Passage was fantastic of course, everybody loves this ride :goodvibes

FlickeringWindyAllensbigearedbat-size_restricted.gif

Afterwards we had to head straight back out of the park and took the bus to Animal Kingdom Lodge for our 12pm lunch reservation at Sanaa :lovestruc

We arrived at Kidani village and waited a little while to be seated.
Fran loved watching the tortoise as she has a little tiny one at home called Trev!

50554205236_b4b39c4d09_b.jpg

Of course we ordered the bread service as we are not complete psychopaths.
Isn’t it a sight to behold.

50554205146_335303c6d4_b.jpg

:cloud9:

We actually swapped out our four dining plan desserts for two of the bread services, which I think is a great option to have!

For my entrée I got what I always get; the braised beef and butter chicken, and also the paneer tikka.

50553471893_fcca690165_b.jpg

Yum and wowww.
This is probably my favourite meal at Disney.
I love it so much.
And so did everyone else!

]
50553471818_b8cb0415de_b.jpg

After lunch we parted ways for the afternoon.
The boys went to watch football at the ESPN Club at the Boardwalk, while Fran and I took a bus to Disney Springs to do some shopping!
We had some gift cards that came with our vacation package, and we were heading home in two days, so this was definitely an urgent matter.

We had a look around Zara first, then we went to World of Disney.
I love the refurbishment and all of the new touches!
It looks a lot trendier in here now.
The old style was very 90s, but I think I liked that about it.

50554339572_133b1e8de4_b.jpg

50554203421_ec5e68fc44_b.jpg

I bought a bunch of stuff from World of Disney, and a Dumbo charm from Pandora!

50554204916_8496024c94_b.jpg

Aren’t those Country Bear Jamboree socks the greatest things you’ve ever seen in your entire life.
To the right of the above picture, the package is this Dole Whip sippy cup:

s-l400.jpg

And the small package is this Mike Wazowski charm that is currently on my desk at work.

50553487663_841148d999_c.jpg

And this is the Dumbo charm in the Pandora bag!

50554204246_c6a82ba635_b.jpg

When we were done shopping we went back to the Beach Club, and something shifty was occurring in Rob and Fran’s room…

We soon met up with the boys, and all got ready for dinner at the California Grill!
We got an Uber to the Contemporary and were seated at 6pm.
We got this nice booth table in the corner of the room.

50553471673_81435a9d19_b.jpg

I love eating at the California Grill at sunset!
I’m a bit of a psycho about it; I even look online to find out the time that the sun will be setting in Orlando on any given date, and book my reservation accordingly :ssst:
It’s such a great time to be there, and you can return for fireworks viewings on the observation deck later if you want to!

50553470618_42dd4c1d75_b.jpg

I also sent the above photos to my friend Danielle back home, as she and her fiancé (now husband!) were planning a trip to Disney and they’d been asking where they should eat!
I’m the go-to friend for Disney planning :thumbsup2

50554204841_61a92ee748_b.jpg

We took some pics of each other :grouphug:
Look at my pretty friend.

50554203341_b348126ba8_b.jpg

Our “couple” shots didn’t go so well...
I don’t even know what is happening here :confused3

When Fran was taking a picture of Jamie and I, Rob said to her, “lift your arm up” – obviously meaning the arm that was holding the camera to get a better angle of us…
But Fran continued taking pictures exactly as she was, and just slowly and mindlessly raised her other arm into the air :rotfl:
We all cracked up so much, and the pictures below are the result of that :lmao:

50554203526_a4223562de_c.jpg

50553470348_b3fae275fb_c.jpg

We also had a good laugh at the fact that Rob’s trousers had ripped right on the butt :rotfl2:
Surrounded by fancy people at the California Grill, of all places.

50554360312_aa8bb53f0f_b.jpg

Anyway!
For my entrée I got the oak beef filet, which was amazing as always.

50554339422_4be169713b_b.jpg

For dessert I had the Crème Brulee :lovestruc
It came with “Cornflake Crunch, Sponge Cake, Coconut Whipped Ganache, Plant City Strawberry Textures”.

50554204611_761d13c888_b.jpg

I also got a picture of Jamie’s dessert, he got the Warm Valrhona Chocolate Cake, which came with vanilla bean ice cream :goodvibes

50554339342_99bc6f9fba_b.jpg

Yum and wow!

After dessert we went out to the observation deck to take in the views.
The main deck was closed so we went to the one further back past the lifts.

If you read my intro post or noticed the title of this trip report, you might be thinking,
“Huh, this would be a great opportunity for Jamie to pop the question, especially as there’s only one full day left after this.”
You would be correct about this statement.
However this was not the case :rotfl:

In this moment I was thinking, "if he was going to propose on this trip, he would've done it tonight."
We’ve eaten here several times before and he knows how fancy it is, and how much I love the observation deck.
Me towards the end of the meal, thinking "Do I really have to wait ANOTHER year..."

tenor.gif

After he did propose the following night, he said he just wanted it to be a moment where it was just the two of us, which is totally fair and I really loved that in the end!

We left the California Grill, and Fran and I really wanted to browse the shops in the Contemporary before we left, which Jamie wasn’t very happy about because his stomach was still a bit feeling a bit off :lmao:
He ran to the bathroom while Fran and I looked around :rolleyes2
Totally worth it for this mug.
Sorry Jamie. :thumbsup2

Part 2 - Epcot EMH!

After browsing the Fantasia store we headed out to the front of the Contemporary to wait for our Uber to take us back to the Beach Club.
Look at these two giggling with each other

50553471228_f82ea3db0b_b.jpg

50554339047_f1a6eb86df_c.jpg

It was 8pm so Happily Ever After started playing while we were sat there which we enjoyed!

"What are you doing??"
"Kissing you in an emotional moment you cow!"

Our Uber soon arrived and we headed back to the Beach Club to get changed.

Rob was leading the walk back to our room through the hotel corridors, when he started picking at the hole in the butt of his trousers in front of us all, progressively more and more, to the point where he ended up ripping them completely apart, Hulk-style, growling and roaring :rotfl2:

We were laughing so much, but what we didn’t realise was that there was a poor woman walking right behind us all, who I’m assuming witnessed this entire insane outburst :rotfl:

After a quick change, we headed into Epcot for Extra Magic Hours from 9-11pm!
What a dream.

Ratatouille construction!

50554204231_4d66a56110_b.jpg

We walked around to the front of the park and rode Spaceship Earth!

50554203356_be7110cd7f_b.jpg

And afterwards we did the Inner Vision games near the exit.
Jamie had previously discovered that it’s a complete SCAM, and gives you an imperfect score of 9/10 when there are actually only 9 questions :sad2:
He’s very cross about this.

Then we rode Test Track!
Sadly we couldn’t get the top score of the day, I think we were out of practice.
But we still had a great time :goodvibes

50554203911_9673b1ceaa_b.jpg

50554338377_352366af96_b.jpg

When we got off Test Track we realised we’d closed out Epcot AGAIN!
It was completely empty!

50554203946_ec9452cbd5_b.jpg

We made it back around to International Gateway (I don’t know if this ever closes? Perhaps we were lucky!) and we headed back to the Beach Club to bed.

Last full day tomorrow!
Goodnight!

Day 10
Wednesday 13th February 2019
Part 1 - This is a very big day, Pascal!

Good morning!

Today started off very grey and overcast, and I was feeling very sad that it was our last full day at Disney :sad2:
Would the day get better?
I DON’T KNOW.
:hyper:

We started our day at Magic Kingdom!
We arrived at around 11:30am.
What a dreary day :umbrella:

50553510213_cde5209b44_c.jpg

50554376772_1d7d180a11_b.jpg

Fran got a bag of candied macadamia nuts in Tomorrowland which were really tasty!
We all munched on them for ages, they were addictive.

Then we rode Space Mountain, and I looked directly at the camera for the first time ever!
I’ve never managed to do this before
Disney goals, right guys?
Just me?
OK.

50554377797_12b840edf7_b.jpg

50553510063_92c56a51be_b.jpg

Next we rode Buzz and I scored pretty well…

50554376712_0ab5ccaff8_b.jpg

But not well enough! :snooty:

50554242921_2f11782a26_b.jpg

Saving the galaxy is very serious business.

50553509923_f72eeb59bc_b.jpg

At 12:30pm we had lunch at Be Our Guest!
Unfortunately I didn’t take many pictures today, I was just enjoying our last day with our friends and living in the moment :goodvibes

However I did write in my trip notes that we ordered at the machines today, and it was a nightmare!
The line was huge and it took foreverrrr.
Not good for four hungry little beans.
Jamie and I always pre-order on the app the day before (this was before the days of mobile ordering!), but I was worried our friends, who were new to Disney, would think I was a complete psycho

tenor.gif

Oh well, we got our food in the end!

50554242891_9385093ebd_b.jpg

After lunch we rode Journey of the Little Mermaid!

Then we headed to Main Street to leave the Magic Kingdom.

Jamie and I wanted to go and annoy the heck out of the Goofy’s Candy Company staff by cashing in all of our remaining snack credits  and Rob and Fran thought it best to start doing some packing.

We stopped at the Confectionary on the way out.
Rob and Fran used loads of their snack credits in there, and I just got some sour strawberry belts.

50554376602_70ea78a1b1_b.jpg

50553509103_23022bed26_c.jpg

Don’t these make your mouth water just by looking at them in the bottom of the bag?!

We said goodbye to Rob and Fran as they headed back to the Beach Club.
Jamie and I were meant to be going to Disney Springs, so we walked over to the Contemporary to get the bus from there.
(Weird Disney rule that I need to remember – buses don’t run between the parks and Disney Springs until 4pm, I have no idea why :confused3

I was browsing MDE at the Contemporary bus stop when I spotted a rogue Tower of Terror fastpass for very soon…
And when I looked up to mention it to Jamie, a Hollywood Studios bus was pulling right in!
Tower of Terror is one of our absolute favourites and we’d only gotten to ride it once this trip, so it felt like the Disney Gods were really speaking to us.

giphy.gif

So I booked the fastpass and we hopped aboard the bus!
We arrived at 3:30pm!

50554376537_4633caf2a5_b.jpg

We had a little time to kill, so first off we caught a Star Tours flight.

50553507553_881bac0a16_b.jpg

Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge, opening Summer 2019!

50554376507_9e13c02e69_b.jpg

We caught the Imperial March thingy.

50554376457_176e8349d8_b.jpg

50554376422_806d106931_b.jpg

Then it was time to use our Tower of Terror fastpass WOOO.
Nothing beats that musty smell and creepy music.

50554242526_00681f80ac_c.jpg

50553509588_ce66c457a0_b.jpg

YAY.
We had a really fun time at Hollywood Studios, it was nice to spend some time as a couple just being completely silly together :love2:

Now it was time to head to Disney Springs to fulfil our snack credit mission at Goofy’s.

50554247216_55d32cf879_b.jpg

50554376267_e975bf6d6d_b.jpg

Here’s what we got!

50554374992_40425bfbbb_b.jpg

:hyper:

Can you believe this is how many snack credits we had left at the end of our trip?!
I love the dining plan.
Has anyone ever naturally had zero snack credits left at the end of their trip?!
We always see other people in Goofy’s doing the same thing as us

50553508783_f908ce5678_b.jpg

We had a stroll around Disney Springs, and I called in at Basin before we headed out.
I wanted to get Fran something for her birthday the following month.
We had enjoyed washing our hands in Basin at the Grand Floridian the other day!
So here’s what I got her.

Day 10

Part 2 – Can I say something crazy?

We walked out to the bus stop right when a Beach Club bus was pulling away, doh!
A Boardwalk bus was soon pulling up at the stop next to us, so we decided to just hop on that and walk over to the Beach Club from there.

They play great old-timey music on the Boardwalk buses!
But the best thing about this bus ride was the incredible sunset!
After a very miserable, overcast day today this was very unexpected :cloud9:

50554376142_228ddc2cc6_b.jpg

50554242336_74543d079f_b.jpg

We departed the bus at the Boardwalk and started to make our way over to the Beach Club.
As we walked I kept stopping every few meters to take about a million photos, and Jamie was starting to get annoyed at me :lmao:

tenor.gif

What was he in such a rush for?!
Let me relax and watch the beautiful sunset gosh darnit! :rotfl:

Here’s just a few of the photos I took, completely ignoring what might be on Jamie’s agenda

50554242286_21e96d9059_b.jpg

50554376027_03daf064e7_b.jpg

50554375997_cc00dc5187_b.jpg

Jamie was really trying to hurry along now, and when I asked why we couldn’t watch the sunset he said the bag full of Goofy treats was hurting his hand and he wanted to take them back to the room.
I mean, you could just put the bag on the floor while we watch, but fine whatever let’s leave, I have plenty of photos now.

We got back to the room and I went to the bathroom sinks, while Jamie apparently got AN ENGAGEMENT RING out of his underwear drawer!
He was trying to be sneaky, but he fumbled it and dropped the box on the floor :rotfl2:
He was sure I’d noticed that little mishap, but I swear I didn’t!
He stuffed the ring into his pocket, and after about 20 seconds of being back in the room, he said,
“Shall we go back out and enjoy the rest of the sunset?!”

qcEFs0a.gif

It was this moment I got a bit suspicious :scratchin
This isn’t like Jamie at all, when we get back to the room he likes to put his feet up and browse the internet for a bit.
And why didn’t we just stay out in the first place?!
But I just went with it.

8f70997fce58f40ece4c0a41b6609f0f.gif

At around 6:45pm we walked out the back of the Beach Club and sat on a swing chair by the lake :lovestruc

50554375972_dd4474d66a_b.jpg

50554242096_7e3e6fda29_b.jpg

We sat and talked about the trip and all our favourite parts.
At one point the biggest convention group of business people I’ve ever seen came parading behind us in a huge trail :rotfl:
That really makes me laugh now.
We’re fairly private people and I would’ve hated for him to propose in front of all those people.
Jamie’s brain was clearly going “MOVE MOVE MOVE”.
The group was never ending!
They were all walking behind us for ages!

Anyway, as soon as the coast was clear, and while I was taking another photo of the lake, Jamie said,

“Lady?”
(A nickname he has for me )

I turned to him as he was getting down on one knee in the sand, holding the ring box.
He opened it up and asked,
“Will you marry me?”

WOOOOOOOO.
Finally, after 8 years! :lmao:

He looked so nervous it was so cute.
And I loved that he called me Lady
I just started crying and pulled him up and hugged him.

original.gif

giphy.gif

source.gif

I was soooo happy.
After being together for 8 years I’ve been quietly hopeful anytime we’ve been away for the last 3 years
But we were heading home tomorrow, and when he didn’t propose after our super fancy meal at the California Grill I’d kinda written off the idea that it might happen on this trip!
So I looked completely ridiculous in my pigtails and green Mickey sweater!
Not prepared at all :rotfl:
This is what I looked like!

50554377057_32c45106b8_c.jpg

Jamie said that he’d told Fran he was going to do it in this exact spot on day 1 of the trip, because he didn’t want to take the ring into a park due to the metal detectors, which is smart!
I’m really glad he did it in private though because I don’t think I would’ve had such a genuine reaction and cried if I was in front of hundreds of people in front of the castle for example.
It was perfect to me! :love2:
Plus, now we have our own little quiet spot that we can go back to and enjoy :goodvibes

He’d also initially planned on proposing much earlier in the trip so that we could spend our time celebrating, but after his bout of food poisoning, and then feeling generally gippy for several days afterwards, it really messed up his plans!
But who cares, it was great!

50554377172_aae4b10ea4_b.jpg

We went back to the room and got changed.
You might remember from one of my first posts that prior to this trip, Rob and Fran had gone with Jamie to get the ring!
So they knew this was coming at some point (they actually brought the ring to Florida in their luggage to guarantee I wouldn’t spot it!) and presumably they guessed it would be happening now on our last night, but we still needed to officially share the news!

We spread out all of our Goofy treats on the bed and lured them in to our room to “show them what we used our snack credits on.”
The plan was for me to show them with my left hand and see if they noticed, but I’m not good at these things so I ended up showing them the snacks, then just shoving my hand in their faces

They were so happy for us!
Fran immediately pulled out two Happily Ever After buttons from her purse, she’d been carrying them around a lot apparently :rotfl:
They also gave us a really lovely card that they’d bought before the trip, how thoughtful!

50553507808_0d5e740ccb_b.jpg

50554241481_927ba506fa_c.jpg

The four of us decided to go into Epcot to celebrate!
We booked one of the only restaurants available which was the San Angel Inn in the Mexico pavilion!

This was new to us, but we love Mexican food so why not!

As soon as we entered Epcot through International Gateway we stopped to get some engagement pictures with the photopass photographer on the bridge to the France pavilion!

I love these pictures, even though I’m ugly smiling in them

50553509453_c694b59876_c.jpg

Fab!
We had some time before our dinner reservation, so we had a couple of Proseccos each from the Italy pavilion!

50554375897_92771e186c_b.jpg

50553509688_b00009719b_c.jpg

Me freaking out:

50554375832_a3a3cb4ffe_c.jpg

At 9pm we went to our dinner reservation at San Angel Inn!
I loved how dark it was and seeing the boats go by.
It felt very special :goodvibes

50554241971_ab76e485f7_b.jpg

I had the steak meal, which was huge and really good!
The steak itself was a bit tough, but if it hadn’t been I would’ve really loved this!
But who cares because WE’RE ENGAGED.

50553508363_88e241ba11_b.jpg

Here’s Jamie’s meal, I’ve not idea what it is, I was too tipsy to note it down

50553508303_7978c3daa8_b.jpg

We had wine and cocktails and ended up being the only people left in the restaurant.

“Smile!”

50554241906_9b1c9dcaf5_b.jpg

“Now look like I just said something really hilarious”

50553508203_66b1780d84_b.jpg

Woowoo keep the drinks coming!

50554241826_1a1c63a092_b.jpg

After a nice meal and too much alcohol, we left the empty pavilion at 10:30pm and were the last people in Epcot for the third night in a row!

50554241801_4c93fea2d3_b.jpg

50554241771_397307226c_b.jpg

Even though we were leaving tomorrow and Jamie and I had done absolutely zero packing, we were all feeling very merry so we decided to go to the Boardwalk for more drinks!

50554375482_d2049eb35d_b.jpg

We all squeezed into a photo booth on the Boardwalk for a group picture but they never came through to my Disney account which I was sad about!
But we really crammed ourself in there so the pictures probably weren’t very good anyway

We ended up paying $15 per person to go to Jellyrolls!
We’d never been before, but it was totally worth it!
The dueling pianists were amazing, we all got pretty drunk and sang our hearts out.

50553507903_4202a186c5_b.jpg

50554241136_e45b22edf2_c.jpg

People write their requests on napkins and give them to the pianists (along with a tip!)
Jamie and I were oblivious to the fact that at some point Rob had given them a napkin that said “Jamie and Katie engaged today!”
A bit later on when we were sat at a table, Jamie had gone to the bathroom, and the pianist read out the napkin and started scouring the crowd!
Rob and Fran were waving like, “OVER HERE!”
The lights narrowed in on me and I was like ohhh heck

I had to get up, without a Jamie in sight, so Rob walked up to the front with me to see what was going on.
The guy shouted down “Are you Jamie?” and he was like “No… I’m just Rob…”
You know, just Rob, no explanation :rotfl:

Just at that moment Jamie emerged from the bathroom, and they made us get up on the stage and DANCE TOGETHER.
This is NOT something that Jamie and I would EVER want to do :rotfl2:

But we were really quite drunk at this point so we just got up there and sort of… shuffled round and round in a circle

And Fran videoed the whole thing!!
Even though this was a truly harrowing experience for us, we are both the types of people who are able to laugh at ourselves a lot, so I will share this truly tragic video with you.

YOU’RE WELCOME.

:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

"You've got a lot of work to do!!" hahaha
The four of us still laugh at how we were just drunkenly spinning the whole time :rotfl:

At almost 1am we finished up our last drinks for the night and left the bar!
Ordinarily I would hate the idea of it being 1am, feeling really drunk, and still having all of our packing to do and a flight to catch, but I just didn’t care at all!
We had THE BEST evening!

As we were leaving we came across this very drunk couple asking for cigarettes :confused3

"May I ask why you're here?"
"NO YOU MAY NOT."
My future husband ladies and gentlemen
(Also we’re not from Wales.)

This was our first proper night on the Boardwalk, it was surprisingly so lively!
I wonder what it’s like to stay in a room near Jellyrolls? :scratchin

50554375302_0688778d9a_b.jpg

We got back to our room super late and crashed out hard.
But not before setting an early alarm so that we had time to shower and pack before check-out in the morning!

Goodnight!

Katie!!!
This was not an inconvenience AT ALL, it was fantastic!!! Hahaha, we did have so much! I was enjoying it for months!!
I'm glad you enjoyed it, despite the permanent injury to your spinal chord from lugging it around.
My unpopular opinion - strawberry soup is gross :crazy2:
I wouldn't know! I've never had it.
are you really! I should named you Pierre instead of Pedro :rolleyes1
Mais oui, mademoiselle. Si cela vous amienne du plaisir.
I love that I left you with that gif in your brain, and never returned to explain myself :rotfl:
it's from a really crazy show here in the UK called The Mighty Boosh - it's a bit too crazy for me but it does have some iconic moments that everybody here seems to know and quote :thumbsup2
Ah. Well that explains it.

No. No it doesn't.
We are very committed.
If you think you need to be committed, you're probably right.
I'm still working on this! I really want a smushed-faced cat. He's a dog person though, he's trying to convince me to get a Newfoundland
A Newf!!! That dog will be bigger than you! :faint:
Yes I know gross what even is that?! They should overhaul that section! But I'd be worried that if they were doing that, they'd end up just scrapping the whole ride...
How about just looping us through the good parts twice?
Actually, it would be short, but I'd be happy with 1/2 the length.

Today we ditched the school uniforms and dressed up as ‘Death Eaters’
We wore all black, and we put temporary tattoos of the ‘dark mark’ on our arms!
What a great idea! I'd have never thought of that. Did you get any comments?
Here’s a photo of us all later in the day, so you can see our outfits!

50554308377_8e89a836f3_b.jpg
I think you could all take lessons from Rob. He's got the attitude down pat.
This is Jamie, summed up in a 3 second video…
OMG. That is perfect!
Food is never disappointing!
I respectfully disagree. Have you never had Brussels sprouts?
Food can definitely be disappointing.
Jamie spotted one of his own kin!
50553441233_3d0b8be3a5_b.jpg
Fran and I impulsively decided to ride Kang and Kodos’ Twirl ‘n’ Hurl
How was it? Did you feel like hurling afterwards... or during?
When Rob told us outside Jamie was like,
“You’re telling me there isn’t FIRE inside this can?!?!”
:thumbsup2 Nice shot!
I want this dress for Halloween :lovestruc
Why didn't you get it??????????
Don't we look menacing... :teeth: :teeth:

50554308122_8edb815899_c.jpg
Oh, yes. With your strappy sandals and cute necklace and Fran's pink MB and matching shoes.... very menacing. Terrifying.
A Blue Brother!
That's the singular version, right?!
NO IT IS NOT!
I saw them live on SNL, well before the movie came out. So I know of what I speak.
A singular Blues Brother. Or perhaps an Elwood or a Jake. That's it!
Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls was closed for a long refurb, and Pop Eye’s was temporarily down!
You guys are batting 1000 here for rides being down.
He was edging towards us as if he was reluctant to believe that anyone was actually paying attention to him :rotfl2:
He was waving and shuffling forward a couple of steps at a time apprehensively, he looked so cute.
Jamie said he’s his new favourite character :rotfl:
 Of course! Who doesn't love a bashful shuffling character??
I have restless legs (plural) syndrome when I’m at Disney
If it was one leg, then it would be restle leg syndrome.
On my way back through World Showcase I stopped at this Mosaic Canteen festival booth and got a Mediterranean Flatbread.
It was so good and a huge portion for a snack credit!
That looks really good. Yum!
I didn’t tell Jamie I had eaten these two things, I didn’t want to be chastised about spoiling my dinner
Like the naughty child that I am.
We used two anytime fastpasses to ride it twice, and we asked for the back rows both times.
It was really fun!
I was soo sure you were going to tell us that it was down too. Glad at least one ride was working!
Teppan Edo!

This was our first time eating there, it had really tickled Fran’s fancy on one of our many planning evenings back home :goodvibes
And I’m so glad because we loved it!
I love it there too! It's so fun! And the food is delicious!
At one point he even asked the boys about “popping the question” :scratchin :hyper:
I wonder... did he have a bit of inside info?
And the green tea cake for dessert!
So... I'm not a tea drinker. Did it taste strongly of tea? Or?
Everything was so tasty but I was sooo full by dessert, I could only eat a few mouthfuls.
It definitely had nothing to do with that flatbread and chocolate cake I secretly ate a couple of hours ago :confused3
:rolleyes1
Ah. Bowing in supplication. Well trained.
I love how similar we look in this picture below

50554306297_c127de7f1e_b.jpg
Even before I read your comment, I was struck at the similarity between you two.
WOO what a great day.
I love Disney restaurants.
Who doesn't?????
We arrived at 11am, and spotted the creepy tree lady.
"Creepy tree lady"???????? You take that back! DiVine is a treasure!
Of course we ordered the bread service as we are not complete psychopaths.
::yes::

(and you can read that as "yes" you must order the bread service, or "yes" you're complete psychopaths. Your choice.)
For my entrée I got what I always get; the braised beef and butter chicken, and also the paneer tikka.
Whoa. All of that looks so good!
I love eating at the California Grill at sunset!
Must make a note of this...
I’m a bit of a psycho about it; I even look online to find out the time that the sun will be setting in Orlando on any given date, and book my reservation accordingly :ssst:
...and further notes of this!
We took some pics of each other :grouphug:
Look at my pretty friend.
Two very pretty young ladies. :)
In this moment I was thinking, "if he was going to propose on this trip, he would've done it tonight."
We’ve eaten here several times before and he knows how fancy it is, and how much I love the observation deck.
Me towards the end of the meal, thinking "Do I really have to wait ANOTHER year..."
 You poor thing!
After he did propose the following night, he said he just wanted it to be a moment where it was just the two of us, which is totally fair and I really loved that in the end!
I agree with Hymie here. This is the sort of thing that's best done just between the two of you.
He ran to the bathroom while Fran and I looked around :rolleyes2
Totally worth it for this mug.
Sorry Jamie. :thumbsup2
"What are you doing??"
"Kissing you in an emotional moment you cow!"
:lmao:
Rob was leading the walk back to our room through the hotel corridors, when he started picking at the hole in the butt of his trousers in front of us all, progressively more and more, to the point where he ended up ripping them completely apart, Hulk-style, growling and roaring :rotfl2:
We were laughing so much, but what we didn’t realise was that there was a poor woman walking right behind us all, who I’m assuming witnessed this entire insane outburst :rotfl:
No! :rotfl2:
Then we rode Test Track!
Sadly we couldn’t get the top score of the day, I think we were out of practice.
What? You didn't? Who even are you?????
Today started off very grey and overcast, and I was feeling very sad that it was our last full day at Disney :sad2:
Always the saddest day. :(
Would the day get better?
I DON’T KNOW.
:hyper:
Look at you! Perfectly into the camera! :worship:
Saving the galaxy is very serious business.
It's a whole galaxy. And you're saving it. Yes, very serious business.
Oh well, we got our food in the end!
That's not where it's supposed to go. At least not at first.
Don’t these make your mouth water just by looking at them in the bottom of the bag?!
::yes::
Good timing on that!
That lady is not happy you're taking her photo.
Then it was time to use our Tower of Terror fastpass WOOO.
Nothing beats that musty smell and creepy music.
::yes::
Here’s what we got!

50554374992_40425bfbbb_b.jpg
How long did that last you???
Can you believe this is how many snack credits we had left at the end of our trip?!
I love the dining plan.
Has anyone ever naturally had zero snack credits left at the end of their trip?!
We always see other people in Goofy’s doing the same thing as us
I've only done the DDP once. We were all so full at the end of it that just the thought of more food was making me ill. The snack credits went unused.
Pretty sunset shots.
Here’s just a few of the photos I took, completely ignoring what might be on Jamie’s agenda
:rolleyes1
He was trying to be sneaky, but he fumbled it and dropped the box on the floor :rotfl2:
:lmao:
Just a weeeee bit nervous?
We sat and talked about the trip and all our favourite parts.
At one point the biggest convention group of business people I’ve ever seen came parading behind us in a huge trail :rotfl:
That really makes me laugh now.
We’re fairly private people and I would’ve hated for him to propose in front of all those people.
Jamie’s brain was clearly going “MOVE MOVE MOVE”.
The group was never ending!
They were all walking behind us for ages!
Hymie must've been dying!

Awwwww...
Jamie said that he’d told Fran he was going to do it in this exact spot on day 1 of the trip, because he didn’t want to take the ring into a park due to the metal detectors, which is smart!
Oh! Of course!
and then feeling generally gippy
Okay... is this like when you're pulley? What does this mean?????????
The plan was for me to show them with my left hand and see if they noticed, but I’m not good at these things so I ended up showing them the snacks, then just shoving my hand in their faces
 I love this.
I love these pictures, even though I’m ugly smiling in them
Definitely not ugly smiling. You look wonderful!!
We ended up paying $15 per person to go to Jellyrolls!
We’d never been before, but it was totally worth it!
The dueling pianists were amazing, we all got pretty drunk and sang our hearts out.
Always wanted to go in there. Looks like so much fun. :)
I had to get up, without a Jamie in sight, so Rob walked up to the front with me to see what was going on.
The guy shouted down “Are you Jamie?” and he was like “No… I’m just Rob…”
You know, just Rob, no explanation :rotfl:
:lmao:
And Fran videoed the whole thing!!
Even though this was a truly harrowing experience for us, we are both the types of people who are able to laugh at ourselves a lot, so I will share this truly tragic video with you.

YOU’RE WELCOME.
Loved it!
The four of us still laugh at how we were just drunkenly spinning the whole time :rotfl:
At least you didn't fall on the ground... or ask someone for cigarettes...

I have restless legs (plural) syndrome when I’m at Disney
Plus the Beach Club is the perfect location for spontaneous Epcot trips.
Ha! And Beach Club is def perfect for that.

Today we had two dinner reservations at two of my favourite restaurants.
Lunch at Sanaa, and then dinner at California Grill!

:cool1:
That sounds amazing!!!

I am dreaming of this now! So good.

Sounds perfect afternoon for both the boys and the girls

Me towards the end of the meal, thinking "Do I really have to wait ANOTHER year..."

Oh man! I can't imagine being just a little disapointed.

Plus, now we have our own little quiet spot that we can go back to and enjoy :goodvibes
How nice! You can alwasy have a nice little moment whenever you guys come

Such a small thing but so thoughtful!

Perfect!

Congrats again!

What a lovely engagement story! I first read "Dumbo" Pandora charm as "Dumb" Pandora charm and I thought, has she seen that Saturday Night Live sketch too? (Don't think I can post the link, but it's pretty funny if you want to give it a google).
