It also says you can use the credits how you like. I would like to be a glutton and order 4 meals. Then I will share them with my friends. Sharing is not mentioned anywhere
Yes I did have that part screen shot after the issues we had at 50’s but didn’t need it as the other restaurants never even blinked about it. Strangely two restaurants, Mama Melrose and 1900 already knew we were on deluxe dining plan. I noticed on the little receipt placed on the table when were were seated had my name and then said xx deluxe credits. Which was the number we had remaining at the time. The servers there then asked if we were going to be using our deluxe credits to pay and then I confirmed we were! They were great about it!

As they should Janet! The servers tend to make out since you are ordering apps in addition to entree and dessert. If anyone is drinking alcohol, that ups the tab too. Assuming you are a decent tipper, servers will do well.

And we are! For the most part the servers went above and beyond. Even when we had six or more and the gratuity was automatic they still went above and beyond and printed us recipes we liked, made appropriate small talk, joked around with us...made our dining experiences awesome. That’s Disney for you!

There seem to be two issues. Can credits be shared across reservations? that would seem to apply to all DPs.

And can child ‘TS’ credits be used for adults using the DxDP?
Yes, to me these are two separate things.

I can definitely see why not allowing child credits to be used for adults would be an issue. (I understand the loophole of the credits not being divided, but it’s really only fair since the hold plan costs significantly less.)

But I can’t see why you shouldn’t be allowed to use all of your adult credits however you wish— whether you’re a huge eater and want to consume two meals in one sitting or light eaters who share their meal with others. You’re still receiving the number of meals you paid for.

Wonder if any current guests could share a restaurant receipt showing if credits are now separated child/adult DxDP?

This is great that people are taking note and keeping tabs on this issue. I feel like change is coming with this one at some point, but when, who knows. I would just hope Disney would give people a heads up before they do it, but that is probably not going to happen. I would hate to plan this and then get down there and not be able to do it, that could really throw a financial wrench in someones trip big time.

Thanks for this, haven’t pulled the trigger to upgrade yet for our March trip.

How "late" can you add dining to your reservation? We are going in December 2019 and have two rooms. I'd like to have the DLX plan on my room for myself and my 4 year old granddaughter and then pool credits with her parents who are in the 2nd room and would have no dining plan. I did not know you could use child credits for adult meals. The WDW website says "Guests ages 3 to 9 must order from a children’s menu, where available." But several other sources have indicated otherwise.

Also, how willing are non-buffet/character restaurants to allow you to share entrees? For example, 3 adults sharing the food from 2 DLX credits, plus paying for child OOP? Apps/entrees/desserts x 3 is a TON of food at one time!

I would want to wait until the last possible minute to add the plan(s) to make sure the policy had not changed... Thank you!

I had no issue using 4 credits (2 meals) for three of us to share at Cali Grill in September. I was the on the DlxDP, and my brother and SIL were the lucky beneficiaries of my extra credits.

Watching this thread as well. I hate to hear that 50's is one restaurant that is giving folks a hard time. That is our first reservation. We arrive in 22 days and have two rooms booked. One room with 2 adults, 1 child, 1 infant and the deluxe dining plan...and the other room with 2 adults, 1 disney (child 11...adult) no plan. We are planning on sharing the credits as well and hoping to use child credits as adult meals.

The pdf has always said that about kids' credits, but they haven't fixed the system to separate the credits on the QSDP and the DxDDP because there are still a few QS places that do not offer a kid's menu. The regular dining plan has the TS credits separated and you cannot use kid credits to get an adult meal. Until they fix the system OR implement a sitewide "no sharing of credits" rule, you should be okay to do what you want to do.

As to when, you have to make your dining plan choices 72 hrs before check-in unless you are DVC and then it's 48 hrs.

At all a la carte restaurants except Via Napoli, you should be fine using less credits than number of adults at the table and sharing the food.

We have a trip planned next month, and I am definitely waiting for more feedback before I add the plan. My Step Daughter and her Husband are joining my DH and I for one day of our trip. We planned on using our credits for two meals with them, AP dinner and brunch at CG. Without being able to share our credits, we will definitely not use the plan. There are just too many credits for the two of us, even with two other signature meals.

    Kids have been treated oddly.

Many families order kids meals and pay out of pocket
Many families the kids order adult meals no problem and use the dxdp credit

The second one seems on shakier grounds, but I’m sticking w the ordering multiple meals and sharing

And yes, I realize my logic is on quicksand :P

Regarding Via Napoli... we'll be on the regular dining plan - 5 of us (4 technical adult credits and 1 child) all in 1 room on same plan. We'd like to try Via Napoli, but the kids and I would like to just split a pizza out of pocket as the desserts don't appeal to us and the pizza looks good and would work for us. DH on the other hand would like a full meal and we'd want to use a credit for that... is that going to be an issue?

Technically I suppose we could make 2 adrs one for the 4 of us paying out of pocket and 1 just for him as a party of 1, but it seems so ridiculous, but would like to be prepared ahead of time if they're going to try to make us all order an individual meal since he wants to use 1 of his credits there.

You'll be fine. Paying OOP can do anything they like, and they're okay if you use one credit for one person and pay OOP for the others.

Does "sharing credits" include sharing a meal? I am a dining plan newbie but was hoping to share meals, as in order one meal for two people to split, on our August trip to stretch the credits a bit. This seems to be one scenario now being discouraged though?

"Sharing" is definitely the wrong word, but it's kind of stuck now.

What you want to do is share one meal between two people, so you are truly sharing a credit. At any a la carte place (except Via Napoli), you should be fine sharing.

What other people are talking about is not sharing, but using their credits to pay for a meal for someone not on their plan. In theory, you could share your meal (and that one credit) with someone not on the plan, but that's another kettle of fish.
