So Many ADR's, So Little Time...COMPLETE 7/24!

Mmmm that fixins bar! The Pecos Bill nachos are right up there with corn dog nuggets and chicken nuggets with waffle fries as my favorite MK meals. I let R pick out our parks in April and we didn't make it to MK so now I am missing it terribly. at least I got there with KJ! She actually had the Pecos Bill fajitas on the day I was too hungover to take pictures or write about it. She loved them too!

I've always wanted to try Peco bills the food looks good!

You need to add it to your list! It's easily my favourite quick serve location in Magic Kingdom!

That's generally my opinion of tomatoes, too!!!

Glad I'm not alone!

First of all, how do you call something nachos and not put cheese on it? Secondly, that looks great, and like so much food! We are planning to do Cosmic Ray's for dinner at MK, but maybe I should re-think that!

I actually liked being in control of how much cheese I put on, and the meat was hot enough that the shredded cheese didn't take long to melt :) Peco's Bills is definitely a must-do every time for us!

Joining in terribly late but loving all your food pics. Homecomin' is a gem. I loved the chicken but missed out on the Shine Cake in order to nosh on the Pecan Pie. It was heavenly. :cloud9: You are doing a wonderful job with your reviews! Go Canada :thumbsup2

Homecomin' was possibly my favourite meal of the entire trip (it was definitely top 3). I was eyeing up the pecan pie, I might have to give that a try on our next trip!

Thanks for your review of Homecomin'! We have 2 reservations in a couple of weeks and I'm dying to try it!

Congrats!

I'm so delayed in responding to these messages, I'd assume you've already been on your trip and have ate at Homecomin' by now? If so - did you love it?

I still haven't tried the corn dog nuggets, but Disney chicken nuggets are the best! And wait, waffle fries?! Why haven't I found these yet?!

Sorry for the long delay in posting, but I do have every single dining review from this trip now completed over on my personal blog. I will post them in here as I get the trip report part caught up :)

I love Homecomin'!!!! I could eat a vat of the Pimento cheese and the Hummingbird cake was delicious! The chicken sandwich rocked too!

We actually have eaten at Peco Bills since I said that :rotfl: but we only had a little something.

T-Rex, January 5th, 2017

After waking up at an ungodly hour, and putting way more steps on my Fitbit than I care for, we were both exhausted by the time this reservation rolled around. We thought about cancelling it, we weren’t even that hungry after just eating at Peco’s Bills a few hours earlier, but we also really wanted to see the inside of this restaurant – who doesn’t love dinosaurs?!

So, after leaving Magic Kingdom and heading back to Old Key West to change, we made our way over to Disney Springs to check in at T-Rex.

IMG_3413-e1491670538241-300x225.jpg

That place was slammed! And our reservation was at 2pm – not exactly peak time for lunch… luckily we did have a reservation so we only waited about 10 minutes before being called.

IMG_3414-e1491670556877-225x300.jpg

We were led to a little two-top table right beside a – whatever this dinosaur is. Triceratops? Let’s go with that. (I actually don’t know much about dinosaurs…)

IMG_3419.jpg

The menu had lots of things that appealed to me, but I was so exhausted I didn’t think I could eat much of anything.

We looked at their cocktail list, and most of it sounded amazing but I just wasn’t feeling it at that point. So, I ordered a fancy glass bottle root beer ($4.99) and a glass of water.

IMG_3420-e1491670632966-225x300.jpg

Luke got way too excited about ordering a Blue Raspberry Icee, $4.99. If you read my Disneyland trip report from his birthday, you’ll see he also ordered an Icee the night we went to the movie theater – they don’t sell them in Canada so he has to get one whenever he has the chance in the States. He also ordered a coffee (not pictured), $3.79

IMG_3421-e1491670661895-225x300.jpg

Despite not being hungry, one item on the appetizer menu was calling my name – Mega Mozzarella – seared mozzarella, marinara and mozzarella fingers, $9.99

IMG_3424-e1491670700420-300x225.jpg

Just look at that beautiful plate of cheese! This was nothing special, but it was exactly what I wanted at that point, and Luke was kind enough to spilt it with me (eating that much cheese all at once would make me sick!). The mozzarella fingers (finger? who calls them that? They are mozzarella sticks!) were standard but delicious. I had never heard of seared mozzarella before, but it was exactly as described, and quite tasty!

We also decided we needed to share a dessert, so we ordered this beauty:

This is the Ice Age Indulgence – layers of ice cream sandwiches, fudge sauce, whipped topping, Heath Bar Crunch, $9.99 (for two). This was awesome! It’s a very generous serving, and is definitely meant for two people. It was so good.

The total for our meal was $35.20 – pretty cheap meal!

The restaurant itself was really awesome!

This was not a very exciting meal, but we were so tired we would not have enjoyed a full meal. After we paid our bill, we actually went back to OKW and had a long-overdue nap that was wonderful…

I love that ice cave. That's where we sat during our last meal there. Although I couldn't eat the mozzarella sticks. Because they are cooked in the same oil as shrimp. The food is really good, but nothing to write home about.

Can't wait to read more!!

Ok so I think we were seated in like the same spot 2 years ago :rotfl2:

Same  Although I thought it was a little loud in there for my liking and we did have more to our meals.

Yummmmmmmmmmmm! I've not heard of seared mozzarella, but I would totally eat it!

I am probably in the minority here, but we did not enjoy Cosmic Ray's. It remains my least favorite meal.

Good to know for future reference. As things will happen with a 20 month old son and a 69 year old mom, plans ended up changing and we ended up going back to the resort and eating there instead. Sounds like we may have made a good choice.

Yeah, we knew the food wouldn't be anything too special, but we had to see the inside of that place. I don't think it's a place we'll be rushing to get back to though, just because there's so many other great places to try!

That's hilarious that so much was the same!

Yummmmmmmmmmmm! I've not heard of seared mozzarella, but I would totally eat it!

It was good! It was basically just melted cheese on a plate haha!

Congrats!!

I have that same Alice in Wonderland dress that you had on during Garden Grill. Don't you just love it!! I've only worn mine once here at work, but got a ton of compliments on it!

Thank you!

That's such a cute dress! The day I found it at Hot Topic, it was on the clearance rack that had a huge sign saying 50% off. Turns out, it had been placed there incorrectly, but since it was all of them like that (not just one misplaced), they gave it to me for 50% off! I was so excited!

Tusker House Brunch - January 6, 2017

Tusker House is probably our favourite character meal on WDW property (no, we haven’t tried all of them, but of the ones we have tried – this wins hands down).

In 2016, we had made a reservation for 1pm, but for our 2017 trip we wanted to try and hit both breakfast and lunch so we made our reservation for 10:45. I was also super sick the day we were there in 2016, so this was my chance to fully enjoy my meal here!

We arrived pretty much right on time, maybe a few minutes early, and only had to wait a few minutes before being escorted to our table.

Since this meal is a buffet, there’s no menu or choices to make – except how you’re going to load up your plate! I’ve mentioned before about not being a huge breakfast person, but this buffet had lots of non-breakfast options as well!

As soon as we were led to our table, we placed our drink order with our waiter – I don’t remember exactly what they called it there, but we both had the POG juice (passionfruit-orange-guava) – they might call it Jungle Juice there? We didn’t even wait for our drinks to arrive, we just hit the buffet so we could catch the breakfast offerings (Luke loves breakfast food!)

My first plate, starting at the top and going clockwise: tater tots and ketchup (fairly standard, deep fried deliciousness), some kind of omelet – ham and cheese maybe? (I don’t really remember now, but I know I didn’t like it – it was filled with gross onions haha), basmati rice with a curry chicken (this was great, not too spicy but lots of flavour!), a plantain – meh, ham – good, bacon – always good and a Mickey waffle – you just can’t walk past them!

IMG_3470-e1492446152149-225x300.jpg

Luke’s first plate, starting at the top and going clockwise: a sausage patty (one of Luke’s fav breakfast meats), rice and curry chicken (same as the one I had up above), tater tots, a Mickey waffle, an egg, bacon, ham, salmon, a piece of cornbread and bobotie – which Luke LOVED. On the smaller plate is the banana bread pudding with vanilla sauce – omg, so delicious!

IMG_3472-e1492446220834-300x225.jpg

We also grabbed some biscuits and gravy to share. Bad idea, this was disgusting.

IMG_3471-e1492446174639-225x300.jpg

Once we had our first plates of food, and had started eating, the characters started coming around. First one to show up at our table was Donald:

IMG_3476.jpg

Next was Goofy!

Then Daisy:

IMG_3489-e1492446362673-225x300.jpg

The fourth character to show up at our table was the main mouse himself, Mickey. When I saw that he was getting close, I decided to Facetime my mom since she was in New Brunswick visiting my grandmother in the hospital. When Mickey reached me, the smile on my Nanny’s face was priceless, and she started waving to him and saying “Hi Mickey!”. The cast member in character that day was incredible, and as soon as he/she realized what I was doing, he started waving and blowing kisses to my grandmother. Luke did manage to snap a picture of me and Mickey on Facetime. This was such a simple thing, but I am so glad I did it – I lost my grandmother less than two months later, but I just have to remember the smile on her face that day and it makes me smile too

IMG_0300.jpg

Luke had to get a picture with Mickey as well.

IMG_0296.jpg

In between all the character visits, we did go back up for more food.

For my second plate, I didn’t want very much, but I wanted healthy – so I grabbed some green beans, some grapes, a square (that was awesome!), some pork, a cube of cheese, some carrots/corn and a small scoop of mashed potatoes with gravy. This plate looks pretty sad haha, but sometimes I just want fruit and veggies!

IMG_3492-e1492446386482-225x300.jpg

Luke also got a second plate – more salmon, a pickle, more rice with curry chicken, I believe the next thing was a tofu dish, some desserts, more bobotie (sp?), pork with some kind of sauce (the downfall of writing these reviews months later haha) and some green beans.

IMG_3493.jpg

Now that I think about it, the plates pictured above might have been our third servings, but it’s all I have pictures of. Just now that we both left STUFFED! I love the food here, and the character interactions have always been fantastic.

I also need to give a shoutout to our waiter, Lee. He was hilarious and kept cracking jokes with us – nothing too inappropriate, but things he probably would not have said if there were children at our table haha. He kept our table clear of dirty plates, and our glasses full of water and juice. He was one of the top two servers we encountered on this entire trip – I hope to see him again next year!

This meal is a bit pricey, at $45 per person, but it’s one that will continue to be at the top of our must-do list every time. We were there for at least an hour and a half, and we didn’t eat again until 7pm that night (like 8 hours later). There are food options for everyone – if you want to be adventurous there are some great options, but fussy eaters will also have no trouble finding something on the buffet here as well.

Aww...that's awesome, and a great memory to have of your grandmother.

We really like Tusker House, too. We went a few years ago for breakfast and had an impromptu trip for a late lunch this year. The food was good for both meals, and we will probably go again! It's such a nice cool break in the middle of the day, too!

Congratulations on your engagement.

Thanks for your fab reviews. I have a dinner ADR for homecoming and I am even more excited after seeing this!

We are from UK, so I am excited to try actual Florida food. AO, I will know what the *real* versions taste like. I have my eye on the pecan pie. Among other things. Also, I am pretty certain a moonshine flight might find its way into my life.
