Something About Nothing............ #14

Hotel hopping trip is winding up swell. Pixie dusted after chatting up check in staff = comp upgrade 2BR
Looks very nice. How many hotels did you stay at?

Nothing worse than a jobsworth to bring out the ultra polite language and tone in one, but never rude or curse.....nothing worse than hearing that.
I had to look up that word.

Quiet night tonight. Dh is watching Mystery Science Theater 3000. I’m going to try to assemble my new cross stitch scroll frame.

lol.....I forget we have some different words for things at times.

I am a base ball fan and still watching tonight’s game.

You know I have never watched a Baseball game in my life! But then I`m not the biggest sports fan anyway unless it involves sports cars/driving. Everyone assumes all Brits love football (UK football) but, nope....bores me to tears, even Tom isn`t a fan thank goodness. Hope you enjoyed it anyway.

25mph winds mixed with sun and drizzle this morning and cool, very cool. No plans to go out till lunchtime when we meet some friends for lunch, usual Wednesday meet up, nice little pub that we all like.

And apart from that, absolutely nothing going on today. Will potter about the house this morning doing little jobs and tidying anything that needs tidying. Study door will remain closed as we are sotirng some boxes from the attics in there till after the roof gets done, it looks so untidy!

Light breakfast of fruit and a croissant, tea of course. We are lucky here with our tap water, it is very nice and perfect for tea and regular drinking, some areas around the UK don`t have the best drinking water, but ours is very nice.

Have a lovely Wednesday :)

Ah, thought DH was just going to use the bathroom, and was coming back to bed. What? Alarm already on? Whoops. Time to get moving. Rarely see anyone when I first pull out. What? Have to wait for four cars to pass before I can turn from my cul de sac. But then, no one around until I got closer to the main road into the city. As going to the light to turn on it, car in front of me, does a tap on the brakes, and a quick move to the left then back again. I was like, what? Ah as I came in back of him, saw the butt of a teenage deer. Ooh. Glad they kept on going instead of coming back as I passed. Then, wow, a huge line to get in. But quick enough in, then got my favorite parking spot, and didn’t even feel the light rain I had to use my wipers every so often for. And then back to routine week day I have been. And still oh so dark. But at least 53 says my phone. Warner, but rain chances today. 70 the high, so carrying out my jacket again when I leave.

But who do I see as I take a break for a few minutes?

IMG_3391.jpeg

Ah, camel must be with Keisha, needing those sunglasses, on a hot enough day. And, camel reminder today, given get over this hump of day feeling, then that Fabulous Friday feeling pay pay for me, will be a day away. Woot!

Sigh. One more day of this commuting, then thankfully, not until 5 more days before I have to do it again next week.

Yay, Charade’s trip is ever then close now. Weekend fun for her. Woot!

Time for more tea, as office does feel a little cool. Did wear a short sleeve blouse, so may put on that lightweight sweater coat I keep in the office.

Almost dawn break. See light on the horizon. Did brighten the picture. And still dirty enough window. Lights on in my office.
IMG_3392.jpeg
And yes, see all those clouds.

Time to wish all a Wonderful Wednesday today.

Weather. 70 the high. Yay. Given the high tomorrow is 59. I know, no jacket put away yet. But do see an 86 predicted high in that 10 day forecast. I hope it gets that hot more often as we slide into May next week.

Okay! Okay! I’m awake.
I woke up too early again so I thought I would try to go back to sleep for a little while in my recliner. I was almost asleep when I heard a crash. Like something had been pushed off a table. My first thought was Caspian, but he is asleep on the back of the sofa. I went to explore and found a small plastic storage box had fallen off a shelf in the bedroom closet. Thankfully nothing in the box was breakable.

I am a base ball fan and still watching tonight’s game.
Braves?

lol.....I forget we have some different words for things at times.
Y’all have some great words that we don’t use here. One of my favorite words (I learned from reading Harry Potter) is snogging.

I guess now that I’m good and awake I should start getting ready for work. I’m another day closer.

lol......snogging isn`t a word commonly used over there? Nothing nicer than a good old snog with my husband 😘😘😘

I do love the differences in our language at times.

Your countdown is coming down fast!!!

It is so darn cold here right now, coldest April I can remember for the longest time.

Met our friends for lunch, there were 9 of us today, I knew immediately when my closest friend mouthed "I`m so sorry" as we walked in. Yep, the vegan had joined us......lol.....apart from her it was a lovely lunch albeit the restaurant in the pub was cold too. After half an hour one of the husband`s looked at me huddled closest to the fire they had finally lit and observed I really am a lizard! He`s not wrong.

Lunch was lovely though, no dinner needed tonight for us. Little too much bread for me on my dish but the meats, cheeses and little accoutrements went well with them and a nice glass of wine too.

i-HXrdm9J-X2.jpg

Lovely few hours with them, then came home to meet the delivery man at the gate with a case of wine.....we weren`t expecting it till end of the month, nice surprise!!

Think we may need to open a bottle to try one.....would be rude not to 😉

Safe travels home tonight keisha :wave2:

Hi Everyone, I'm Back!!! Well, I've been back for a few days, but the Long trip has worn us out! We drove over 4000 miles roundtrip to Phoenix and back. Wow. We have done this trip before, but it really beat us this time. Of course, we were a lot younger on that trip, LOL. We both vowed to Fly the next time. We can be there in 3 hours verses 2 1/2 days driving.

The Southwest was beautiful in Arizona. I love to see the palm trees, fruit trees,, cactus or cactii???, and landscaping everywhere:) Our visit was a relaxing one with a lot of visiting and catching up time with my sister in law and her daughter. We ate out a lot, which was nice. I love to eat out while on vacation. They have 3 french bulldogs who are adorable. We got our fill of doggy love while we were there. I've never been around frenchies before, and they are really cute:) We went to one of their many casinos once only. I didn't win a dime, so one and done.

We drove through Colorado, New Mexico (not recommended), Nebraska (not recommended either), South and North Dakota, so we saw a lot of the USA. The Dakotas have 80 MPH for driving which felt like racing to me. (Carole, you would have loved it:)

Now it's time to get back to normal although it is taking longer to recover from this trip than usual. Tomorrow is supposed to be in the upper 60's. We will get out in the yard and clean out the flower beds and do some yard work. I love this time of year and getting the gardens ready for planting:) We only plant flowers but have about 6 flower beds to tend to.

Now to catch up with you guys.

Carole I hope your cold spell gets over soon! I don't like to eat in a cold environment either. When food is served hot I want it to stay that way, not turn cold. Spring will be here soon:)

Keisha: I see your trip is over now? I know you had a good time at Disney, and have a safe trip back home:) I do miss Disney at times, but haven't been back in a few years. Maybe one day? I absolutely love Universal and hope to do another mother/daughter trip this year:)

Charade: Did you say the Braves??? I don't follow baseball too much, but being a Minnesotan, I have to support the Twins. They haven't won for years.....

Lynne: Your trip to work sounds like it was no fun! At least you are having warmer weather in the 70's

Robo: So sorry to hear of your dx of skin cancer, You are right that it is very treatable. Take care:)

Pumpkin: Glad to see you on the Dis (even though I don't write as much as I should). House cleaning is on my agenda this week:) But when the weather is finally warm and sunny, I tend to let it go.A

A shout out to Mac:)

Everyone have a wonderful rest of the week, and I hope for warmer weather for all of us:)

ruth

Good afternoon all! A little cheese plate for lunch with DW and the pups. Fruit, jam, cheese and some crackers.
Doing a SW day trip next Saturday then a weekend in UO late May.
Weather in FL probably going to be dry for a while. Spring rains are mostly over and tropical weather hasn't started yet.

Good evening. Today was a pretty decent day. I decided to go to the Medicare website to check the progress of the claims I submitted last week. All have been paid with the exception of one client. I’ve done all that I can do, so I emailed her a copy of the remittance and asked her to contact Medicare to get it straightened out. I’m also having issues with her former commercial insurance plan.

snogging isn`t a word commonly used over there?
No. We usually say “making out”, but snogging is a much more fun expression.

I knew immediately when my closest friend mouthed "I`m so sorry" as we walked in. Yep, the vegan had joined us..
I would have been tempted to order a steak.

Welcome back. I can’t imagine driving 2.5 days. I was exhausted from driving 2.5 hours to the zoo last week.

Charade: Did you say the Braves???
Yes, I grew up near Atlanta and started going to Braves games when I was a kid.

Weather in FL probably going to be dry for a while. Spring rains are mostly over and tropical weather hasn't started yet.
Dry is good. I have been watching the forecast for my trip. It looks like it will be in the mid 80’s.

I’m ready to start packing, but won’t actually do anything until Friday.

Quick late night stop in!

We lucked out and had a beautiful day yesterday,,,but today, back to windy and cold. I had to put on a my headband/ear band cover to keep my ears from freezing and aching on my walk tonight. I know the warm is coming, but it is not fast enough for me.

Met up with a couple of girlfriends last night for dinner. It's always a good chin waggle when we meet up. Hopefully we do it again soon. It always seems like its too long between visits. The one gal is a snow bird now - escaping to Yuma AZ for the winter. She just returned a couple weeks ago.

Dinner tonight was.....well interesting. I forgot to cancel our Hello Fresh box this week - and of course, the meals they first offer you are "Interesting" This was one that I would have never picked - EVER!!! The mango/chutney salmon part was delicious. But the other part of the meal was a curried chickpeas :sad2: I hate chickpeas! So I whipped up a small portion of the chickpea thing as dh thought he wanted to try it. I did whip up another side and veggie for myself and ds's. I tried it, but chickpeas are NOT my thing.

Met our friends for lunch, there were 9 of us today, I knew immediately when my closest friend mouthed "I`m so sorry" as we walked in.
Other than the vegan being there, it sounds like it was a great time!

:surfweb: Sounds similar to my day. I spent some time today correcting a treatment code that was wrong for 2 patients - who both had over 25 appointment each :faint: I seen the mistake after I had booked the appointments, but figured out it was the wrong code - and for the billing side of it - it would have been wrong. Only took 2 hrs to fix with all the interruptions during that time :scared: Still a huge learning curve.

Well, I should get going.

I hope everyone counts many sheep while sleeping tonight - and have great dreams.

Flying sounds like a good idea now Ruth, you`re like us, love the travel time together, all those hours in the car just talking it is fun, but yes, it`s a lot.

I`m so glad you had such a wonderful trip though, it sounds so much fun.

Yes, if I have a hot dish I want a plate that`s nuclear hot and the room temp to not cool my dish down, but it did warm up once the fire was on and I had a cold dish in the end....just what I fancied.

Your temps beat ours for sure!!

Ah, making out is fun too ☺️ I never thought about it being a British word, but guess it is one of those uniquely Brit words. Mum is another, I`ve never heard an American use the word mum instead of mom, unless they`re being sarky. I have heard a Brit say mom and it sounds so silly in our accents.

Tom ordered a huge steak and we shared our dishes, and a couple of the others ordered steaks too. Usually I would, but maybe I`m mellowing a little.......lol.....no chance!!!!

Nah, we pack last minute too. I think about what I`ll take, but always last minute for us.

You`re weather on the trip sounds beautiful.

Chick peas are another ingredient of the devil himself. I loathe hummus and other dishes like that. I did try Falafel once and it was ok, but I covered in a hot sauce, made it edible.

Sounds like a lovely meet with your friends, always good to catch up even if it is too long between meeting up. I have one friend where we used to live and we only see each other two or three times a year, but we met in January and it had been a long time since we had last met up due to covid then life in general. But we do need our friends.

lol.....it was a lovely lunch, we were at opposite ends of a large table which helped. I`m polite to her out of respect to my best friend and vice versa, she deserves that much, but generally she is just someone who irritates the living daylights out of me and most people too to be fair, and she feels the same about me too lol.....but she talks utter nonsense most of the time.

Hope you slept well too Pumpkin and yes, we all need that warm weather soon!!

Got a little appointment with my new stylist this morning, she also does all kinds of beauty treatments so I`m going to have a little time there this morning, nothing drastic and might get her to tidy up the old eye brows with some wax too. I do my own, just keep them tidy and neat. I hate those newish slug like huge brows, don`t quite get that look. Maybe I`m just too old to get it.

After that we`ll go shopping as usual, need some fresh products only. Yesterday we drove up to a wholesale butcher who also has a fish counter in his building, the firm rent it from them and I like his fish, so we bought a huge salmon, he did all the gutting and cleaning, took off the head and tail, pin boned and cut it into two side fillets. I portion it at home and freeze it, so long story short, salmon for dinner tonight.

Farm made marmalade for breakfast on toast this morning, nice and simple as I`m heading out for the first appointment of the day for her. Nice bit of pampering to start the day.

Happy Thursday ☺️

Ah, thirsty Thursday is here. Commute today, was one of the faster ones I have had. And only me and another car coming in this morning. Mostly green lights, and glad that very slow truck in front of me, turned as I came into our complex. Good riddance. lol.

Favorite parking spot, and quick to routine I’ve been. After put away, jacket and food I brought in, tea made. Glad water bottle did not need to get changed. It should be almost be ready now though, as haven’t seen a used one since the 5 old ones were replaced. So, thirsty I was. And still am. May need a refill soon.

And ooh, we have much clearer skies this early morning. That moon was only missing a sliver. So low now on the horizon. And even with it over 10 degrees cooler than yesterday, we will still see clouds today. 44 as I got out the door.. Phone says 58 the high. Cooler than yesterday’s, 74 it was. So nice and warm feeling that late afternoon. Not this afternoon. Hoping an uneventful one.

Pizza lunch with other offices on our floor. It’s the bring your kid to work day. My kids are much too old now, but they both remember me bringing them for a bring to work day. And so, will be nice to see other’s kids and enjoy a lunch with many of us.

Ah, DH and I went and bought a new washer last night. Glad the one I picked was in stock, and will be delivered this weekend. Old one was over 20 years old. So going to toss the paperwork for it and will replace with this new purchase paperwork. Was hard, as we have a smaller place it fit’s in, but glad a few met our measurements. So, this one has more electronics on it, so need to read to ensure what all buttons are. And nice, as has a clear top. I just hope it lasts at least as long as the old one. I think it’s the third one since we have been in this house. The one the prior owner left did not last long. And as years went by, double the people in our home. And glad not that hot out yet. More wash when like to change sweaty clothes more when it’s hot out.

Yay, for Disney to be home from her long road trip. Don’t blame ya for wanting to fly next time. I have once driven to Florida, since I have been married. When it’s a 2 hour flight, we have flown since our first road trips. Though I can see a road trip when I retire. Glad the train will do some of that road travel miles, if I don’t want to drive the whole way. Last time we drove, when first married, and took us 18 hours to get back home, with only stops for food and gas. I’m sure there is more traffic and more to see than that trip over 30 years ago now. But glad you enjoyed family time.

Keisha, hope you had safe travels, and enjoying seeing that dog. Maybe will see ya in the Fall?

Charade, safe travels this weekend. Glad to hear from Junkie, that dry weather time. I’d be glad to see mid to high 80’s when we are there. Sorry to miss ya this time, but one of these days we will cross paths again down there.

Ooh tea refill time. So all have a most Terrific Thirsty Thursday. Drink up, Friday is tomorrow. Yay, pay day one for me.

And means our countdown is still two digits, but I’m in the low teens now. So fast time goes by. As will be packing after my hair salon visit in the late afternoon the day before our early lunchtime flight. Plenty of time to pack before our leaving for the airport. DH will certainly want the alarm on. Think he or older one will drive us there. Woot! Spring travel. Twice for us. Woot!

Lunch break post. Today is being spent working on problems. One of our therapists is getting a bit stressed. Today she said she wanted to join me in Florida. The other therapist never takes vacations. She will take an extra day or two off around holidays like Memorial Day and Labor Day, but she never takes a week and gets away. I don’t know how she does it.

In a funny coincidence I am having some hummus in my lunch today.

Sounds similar to my day. Sounds like a nightmare.

Mum is another, I`ve never heard an American use the word mum instead of mom, unless they`re being sarky
Over here mum is a type of flower. It’s also a weird homecoming tradition mostly I think in Texas. If you are not familiar with it just google “homecoming mum”. They can get to be quite ridiculous.

Ah, DH and I went and bought a new washer last night.
Yay! Clean clothes. Mine has a clear top too. Not really sure what the purpose of that is.

Charade, safe travels this weekend.
Thanks. Sorry I will miss you this time. I will be stopping in Philadelphia on my way home Tuesday. I’ve never been there before.

Time to get back to work. Today’s countdown:

That Homecoming mum is very odd indeed.

Never takes a proper vacation? Everyone needs a vacation, whether they think they need it or not, switching off is essential at times.

It`s still cold here, no one can quite believe how bad the weather is for the time of year. And more rain this morning. Didn`t get the pampering this morning after all, she had an emergency, but rescheduled for Saturday, looking forward to that, and we`re out for dinner on Saturday night so might txt her and ask if she can fancy up my hair for going out too.

Finished dinner, salmon was lovely, very fresh, popped some fresh dill in there too and some lemon, full up now.

Lazy night ahead, going to call my mum for a chat before we settle down for the evening and try not to eat some of the baking I did today, for the church bake sale tomorrow but will keep a little back for us. Will drop it off early tomorrow.

Pot of tea time for us.

Hope keisha is back home and getting back to normal......:)

mac...... :wave2:

Busy day today at work. I had to get the gal who trained me down to show me a process I just couldn't remember or figure out with lots of clicking lol. I'm glad it's Friday tomorrow. Not much planned for the weekend - just what I'm needing. A quiet weekend at home.

Quiet night tonight. Dh went to bed extra early as he was tired from staying up to watch the Oilers loose last night. So it's just me and the remote. It's extremely windy tonight - so no walking tonight.

I came home to see our older ds had started making dinner. That made my momma heart happy - to not have to cook tonight. I'm thinking tomorrow night will be bbq burgers and fries - if the wind dies down.

I`m going to have a little time there this morning, nothing drastic and might get her to tidy up the old eye brows with some wax too. I do my own, just keep them tidy and neat. I hate those newish slug like huge brows, don`t quite get that look.
I am the same way - I hate they way people are shaping and doing their brows. I don't think they realize that when they are talking and expressive - they look like ANGRY BIRD the cartoon character. My brow gal closed shop and I'm too scared to see someone else for fear of them making my brows look all wonky.
DH and I went and bought a new washer last night
OOOO That's great! My last set lasted me close to 18 years. My current set is close to 10 years old now and still going strong. It's a top load washer with no agitator. I found it washes good as long as we load the washer like it had an agitator. That is my only complaint about it. I'm sure yours does so much more than mine. Dd has one that I'm sure could fly to the moon it has so many buttons lol
Time to get back to work. Today’s countdown:
Yahoo :cheer2: it's sooo close now!

Well, I should get going. I gotta feed my sourdough starter to activate it again.

Have a great evening everyone
