What brands of sunscreen are allowed in Hawaii - I realize that they have be reef friendly but there are conflicting articles on the internet - is there an allowed brand that is spray not lotion?

Your best bet is to use mineral sunscreens like non-nano zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. Avoid chemicals like oxybenzone, octinoxate, octocrylene as active ingredients and waterproof. Many of the sunscreens now list on the bottle if they are reef-safe, biodegradable, contain nanoparticles, etc.

I was able to find plenty of options with zinc oxide at my local Walmart.

We use Badger brand. It’s a bit thick to put on, but no chemicals and highly effective.
