The Happiest Day of Our Lives...

Day Two Continued...

So, after bagels and apples (the shiny red kind that make me think of Snow White) we checked out of POFQ and headed over to the Boardwalk via the Disney Transportation System...

We arrived and Gavin waited with our cases whilst I checked in with the cheeriest, most lovely man ever.

I explained my dilemma for the day, that we needed to get to the Courthouse but we were homeless at the moment until 3pm. He was so happy to help me! He loved my t-shirt too and it was then that I knew I had found a friend :)

He gave us a King room (hoorah!) and it was only metres away from the lobby ~ he also gave me some Just Married buttons but put them in an envelope with "DO NOT OPEN UNTIL 5TH AUGUST" on them. He was great ~ he even waved at Gavin and asked him where his t-shirt was! :)

:rotfl: Yeah, where was Gavin's GROOM shirt?? VS should totally sell those!

Sounds like you had a great time.... I just love the boardwalk, and you gave me an idea with the Bride shirt.... Maybe I could get my groom to wear one when I find one..... :)

Hey there...

Oh, don't worry ~ Gav wore PLENTY of Groom shirts whilst he was there, just not on this day ;) There was no way he was escaping that!

Totally subscribing!! Loving this TR....and you add updates super quick too which is fab!!

Great trip report I'm subscribing to this one. Loving the Yotel and wow the castle and MK look amazing from the CG Balcony.

We literally threw our things into the room and headed out to the front of the hotel where they called us a taxi and we headed out to Kissimmee Courthouse! We needed a license to get married!

We took tonnes of pictures on the way because the streets are so unlike anything in the UK.

We arrived at the courthouse knowing that we were already behind schedule for the day as we had a reservation at the Akershus Banquet Hall at 1pm. The taxi driver said he would wait for us for no extra charge, so kind! :)

We ran to the courthouse and filled in the paper at record speed. It was really simple ~ I was surprised, the lawyer in me was prepared for pages and pages of clauses! We got our license and headed back out, only to meet with our taxi driver ~ who had our video camera! He said Gav had left it on the back seat. We were SO lucky he was so honest! Gav had only just bought the camera, too!

Our driver was so nice, he even took photos of us...

We headed back to EPCOT, with our license! We were going to get married!!!

So we arrive back at WDW...

2008-08-01_130206.jpg

...and our driver heads to EPCOT ~ and just as we arrive, it starts to rain heavily. With no choice, Gav and I ran through EPCOT (well, we jogged in case we got into trouble ;)) and arrived at Akershus just in time. We were soaked, I felt like a drowned cat and the server says "your photo with Belle is just in here". ARGH! I could not believe it. Gavin loves Belle, and here he is, with the beautiful Belle and his soggy bride to be. He asked if he could swap me, ha ha. I could not be any soggier or strange looking in these photos.

We had our photo and Belle was lovely, then we were seated........for ten minutes. It turned out that not only did I look awful but I also had my eyes closed and so I had to relive my wet photo shame all over again. This time it just looked awful but at least I was awake in it.

Ariel was the loveliest, I asked her about Eric (my hero) and she told me he was well and keeping busy. We did our mermaid pose and Gavin was asked to stand like Eric. I laughed. Then we were asked if we would like to go to the koltbord to get some meats and fish and salad. This originally freaked me out but I was determined to eat things that I did not eat usually at home and so I got some of everything and nibbled at it. They were all surprisingly delicious ~ even the cold fish!

Then Princess Jasmine came over and she was really chatty!
Our entrees arrived and we started to eat a little quicker than we normally would because we also had an appointment with the Roots that afternoon for our engagement shoot... The meat was very different to those I have normally eaten but it was really tasty. It was a traditional meal and so I felt I was getting an authentic feel for the country! I also love the way the servers are dressed in those little short trousers and shiny shoes.
2008-08-01_135616.jpg

Cinderella arrived and we had a chat about getting married and she advised Gavin on how he could be a good Prince.
2008-08-01_135837.jpg

I was so delighted with her because out of all of the Princesses, she was the ONLY one who asked if she could touch my Prince's arm, ha ha. I thought that was very polite of her, not just to manhandle my husband to be!

Our little desserts arrived and Gavin was very excited!
2008-08-01_141210.jpg

They were absolutely delicious. Strawberry all the way! We literally ate as fast as we could and snapped a few pictures before having to hijack our server to pay and exit as fast as we could back to the Boardwalk...

We arrive back at the Boardwalk, soggy, and find this...

So cute! I loved her! It was so close to our photography time and we were just soaked and looking awful (as you saw in the photos before). We called Nathan (Root) and explained and we decided to reschedule for a few days later. Pressure off, we took some photos of the room.....

There you are! If anyone hasn't stayed at the Boardwalk and is thinking of it. it is just beautiful. We loved it.

A little later after unpacking some things (but not too many was we were hotel hoppers this vacation!) we sorted ourselves out as we had evening reservations at Fulton's Crab House in DTD, and then we were meeting Melissa and Robert later at Goofy's Candy Company to make our wedding favours.

Melissa (Skylarr) I met on this board and we have become such good friends! We had planned to meet at Goofy's for the first time and I was more than a little nervous. I'm generally very shy with people in normal social settings ~ in professional settings I'm fine because I have some "intellectual armour" but in social situations I generally feel uncomfortable with new people.

Anyway, I digress... The Fulton's Crab House was also something I was a little nervous about as I have never liked crab. Or lobster. I decided that this was the best place to try and change my mind and so I got our ADR well ahead of time.

We arrived at DTD and found Fulton's really easily. We were seated by a very bouncy server and she was just wonderful. Her name was Ashley and she took excellent care of us.

2008-08-01_180746.jpg

I started off with a Toffee Apple Martini!

We had a fantastic view from our seats and we were so excited. Overly excited! Ashley went through the menu with us and we decided that we would try oysters here as we were sure that trying them here would be the safest place in the World. Not a great risk of being poisoned here!

We ordered one of each kind and they arrived at the table...

Coming up..... Why does Gavin have that video camera in his hand? Ewww!

The Oysters...

2008-08-01_181846.jpg

So they were sat there on the table and we looked at them like they were creatures from out of space. Ashley told everyone around us that we had never had oysters before and suddenly everyone was very interested in us! There was a sauce and wasabi ice with the oysters and it looked very, er, nautical.

Gav whipped out the video camera and said "you first!" I was mortified ~ all of these people were looking at me and cheering! I picked it up and the family behind Gavin said to just let it slide in and then swallow, NOT to chew. I did as I was told! I bucked up my courage, knocked it back and swallowed! It made me shiver and squiggle, it was so funny!

2008-08-01_182331.jpg

I was so proud of myself!

2008-08-01_182319.jpg

Then Ashley brought us some special dip and crackers, they were just amazing. I think we have the receipe for the dip somewhere, it was fantastic!

2008-08-01_182403.jpg

We had some other bread aswell but Gavin noticed that there was the whipped mix condiment instead of butter or margarine and he recalled the "error in judgement" when he ate a large mouthful thinking it was icecream on his cobbler at LTT in February and gave it the thumbs down...

2008-08-01_182410.jpg

Gavin, who always, always orders a more delicious drink than mine, had some kind of margherita...

2008-08-01_192108.jpg

See the "flaunting" face? ;)

2008-08-01_192114.jpg

...and we ate our meal. It was the most sumptuous, unusually and unexpectedly delicious meal. When I first saw it, I was thinking "hmm... crab and potato. Is that it?" but it really needed nothing else! I could have eaten 20 of them myself. To eat them they were extracted from the claw shell, dipped in melted butter and just eaten. I miss them just thinking about them. This was an even tastier place than the California Grill!

We decided to try dessert and I ordered the pistachio brulee.

2008-08-01_192611.jpg

Gav decided to have another cocktail instead, a "dessert" cocktail as he called it. We are not drinkers at all at home and so we decided to try cocktails on our adventure, as many as we could ;)

2008-08-01_192618.jpg

I was so full, it was hard work!

2008-08-01_192634.jpg

We went onto the deck of the Crab House after paying and it was getting a little darker...

Ship Ahoy!!!
2008-08-01_195835.jpg

We bid farewell to the Crab House (or Crab Shack as Gav was calling it) and headed over to Goofy's to find Melissa and Robert.
