*** The Official September 2018 Thread *** let's get started to have some fun

Don't rely on "hour-by-hour" forecast apps for Florida storms-- they're simply not predictable enough to have any degree of certainty about exactly when and where they're going to appear.

Basically, if there's a chance of rain at all, you should be bringing your umbrella, rain jacket, or poncho. And, if there isn't a chance of rain, you should bring it anyways, because it's Florida and there's always the off chance of a random rain shower.

Is anyone having issues with Amazon prime? I'm trying to get a few last second things for my trip (I'm leaving in a week) buy even "in stock" prime items won't be delivered in time. I'm assuming hurricane Florence is to blame?
I know EXACTLY what you mean. I ordered a bunch of things last week and even with prime two-day shipping, they were all saying they'd be delivered a week or more away. I can tell you that things have still been shipping and arriving on the normal schedule you would expect (i.e. two or three days). My guess is either a) for the time being, they built in several extra days to the estimate in case Florence causes delays, or b) Amazon has just decided to start giving very extended estimates of how long things will take to ship so they won't be in trouble if it comes late, even if it's ridiculous to say that an item with two-day shipping will take eight days to arrive.

On Saturday I did decide to order something from Walmart instead of Amazon, because Walmart said it would arrive on Wednesday while Amazon was saying it'd be the following Monday. But my item I ordered 9/13 was delivered on 9/15, and my item ordered 9/14 is scheduled for delivery today.

We arrived on Saturday. Had booked a garden view room in the garden wing at Contemporary. Pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to the tower! We have Bay Lake view and have enjoyed it.

A few other new experiences for us yesterday. Never have we ever been on a ride with a full stoppage. Slow down or a short pause on an omnimover, but nothing more than that. Yesterday on Haunted Mansion, we were stopped for about 5 minutes. Someone came over the speakers & told us to stay put. Then on Buzz, we stopped again. This time, all the lights came on, the gates came up, and we sat for maybe 10 minutes. I thought they were going to Evac us, but they were able to get us going again. The sad part is that it zeroed our scores. Ha! Next, we tried Hall of Presidents. Abe Lincoln had just stood & started talking when a CM walked up to the announcer guy & whispered in his ear (we were sitting on the end). He stood up, stopped the show, turned the lights on, and told us that due to unforeseen circumstances, the ride was ending & we needed to exit immediately. By this time, we were obviously concerned about what might cause that stoppage, but also laughing at our luck. We must have been total jinxes or something.

And then we tried to get on the monorail. You guessed it. Resort monorail down. We walked back to CR just about the time they got it running again. Apparently it was up & down all afternoon because we were able to ride to TTC later to go to Epcot, but had to ride a ferry back to MK & walk when we got ready to return.

Fingers crossed today that we don’t jinx anything!

It is super hot -hotter than I expected, and we’ve been in Sept before. Crowds were great at MK yesterday and WS was a bit congested last night, but not bad. We’ve found many rides that have basically been 5-10 minute waits, which feels more like walk-on. Definitely still need a FP for E-ticket rides, but everything else is pretty low to reasonable.

We managed to not get rained on yesterday, but I’m thinking I’d better pack the ponchos for evening at EP... even if it’s just for Insurance.

There was not a single day of our trip that some TECH glitch didn't happen, whether the App being down, MM was out for 3 days, not once did our MB work for our room the first try. The CM at POP was AMAZING in helping fix our door issue as well as lack of clean bathroom when we arrived, the CM's (4 total over 2 hours) at BWV were TERRIBLE - I could not believe the ordeal we went through just to get into the room, and when we were escorted there and thought the issue was fixed we got locked out again. Not sure what was going on but losing 2 hours of your last day waiting in the room for help is not magical.

Very happy to report that crowds today at Epcot were extremely low. Didn't wait in a single F&W line, rode everything multiple times with refresh, etc. This is more like what we expected it to be! Also seemed fairly quiet at Typhoon Lagoon yesterday, but it had been over a decade since I did a water park so don't have much of a benchmark.

Chaos! It's what's for breakfast.

Getting close to travel time aaaand my perfectly crafted plans are now in disarray, but in the best way possible.
My Son has decided to join me for part of this trip, specifically the food and wine part. I'll be switching my park days to fit his schedule so now I need to update several days wort of FP+s. Still totally worth it.

9 more days till my daughter and I head down, staying at BCV. Love the short stroll into Epcot! We’ll be there for 9 days - our longest trip ever. Hoping for the weather to cool off a bit. We usually go late October so this will be interesting!

Ain't that the truth!

Sunday I had my slicker stuffed in my pocket all day and not a hint of rain. I went back to the resort and left it because no more rain was forecast. Just as Illuminations was to start... RAIN! It didn't last long but it was typical Florida hard rain for about 6 minutes.

Today it stays in my pocket...

Ditto!

DH and I checked out of AKL and into BC yesterday. We like BC much better. Unfortunately, we're both sick :( Initially it was just me which wasn't surprising because I have a compromised immune system. Then DH started to feel really bad last night, and today we both kind of hit a wall. We made it to MK for Early Morning Magic, and then kind of lazed around Fantasyland until our BOG lunch. Then we came back to the room and have been napping since. We missed our Fantasmic dinner at H&V :( DH woke up and said he just couldn't go to a park, so I was able to find a res for Beaches & Cream instead which will be much easier on him and lower key. I hate that this is impacting the trip so much. I've been taking extra vitamins and probiotics in advance, using Lysol wipes and hand sanitizer, and it still didn't matter and I got sick anyway. We put in a Prime Now order earlier with some more water, tissues, lozenges, and cough medicine so hopefully that and the rest we got today will help.

Oh no! I’m so sorry you’re not feeling well. I ate something that didn’t agree with me the other night & it made the park difficult the next day. I hope you’re feeling better fast. I know how much you’ve been looking forward to this trip!
