"They Choose" Car Rental

What's your experience with letting the car rental company choose what kind of car you'll get? They guarantee at least a compact, which is the minimum we need.

I haven't tried it but the rate is not the rock bottom rate (subcompact and economy).

If you ordered a regular compact and they didn't have one then they would have to give you something larger anyway. So the only advantage of the "they choose" or "wild car" program is if the rate is at least a little lower than just plain compact.

It's just me, but I'd be afraid to end up with a bigger car that's a gas guzzler!

If you went with the regular compact or even a subcompact and they don't have your size then you can end up with a bigger car that is a gas guzzler anyway.
