I'm starting a new thread where we can post out favorite fun things to do in Vegas, and just to make it interesting limit yourself to a top 5!

Here are mine:

1. Bellagio fountains - puts me into an "epcot" frame of mind every time!

2. Shopping at the Forum shops - but it has to include lunch at the Cheesecake factory!

3. Mirage hotel at night - you can watch the volcanoe, see the white tigers, and admire the aquariums all in one trip!

4. The Star Trek attractions at the Hilton - pricey (and scary) but so worth it!

5. Belaggio conservatory - a do not miss oasis of calm and beauty!

your turn!

  1. Manhattan Express Rollercoaster
  2. Stratosphere thrill rides
  3. Desperado Rollercoaster (Stateline)
  4. Star Trek Experience
  5. Mystere

Anyone sensing a theme?

(And Mystere is merely representative - any and all Cirque shows are a must!)

Most of mine wouldn't be appropriate to post here but I really like the Madame Tussad's Wax Museum, and if you enjoy shooting I really like going to The Gun Store to shoot. It's fun for me since they have guns that are illegal here in CA.

What is this? I come from a whole family of Trekkies, and am very curious about this. :)

Thanks!

I can't believe how pricy the coasters have become here---NYNY is $12.50 now! Four trips on that and you may as well be at DL for the day!

JMHO, but Mystere is the best of all the Cirque shows we have here.

Don't limit your time to the tourist corridor! Our landscape is beautiful, and very different from the East Coast. Visit Red Rock Canyon for a great hike, or Mt. Charleston (the snow just melted from the peak last week!), and the Hoover Dam is a cool tour. My favorite dayhike is at Valley of Fire, about an hour north of here. Great state park to visit during the non-summer.

A co worker of mine just returned from Vegas this morning and all he could brag about is the buffet he ate. I don't recall the name of it but he said it was $25 per person and you have to ride an escalator downstairs. He was amazed at how long the buffet bar was and kept bragging about. He didn't say much about the gambling. He said he stayed at the Tropiciana(?). Being from the southeast, he also talked about the "dry" heat out there as compared to the humidity we have on the eastern side.

The only buffet I know of that is downstairs is the Luxor. That would have been walking distance from the Trop, so maybe that's the one???

I went "home" to NJ/PA last week, and it's unbelievable the difference between dry and wet heat. I couldn't wait to get back here! When we get off the plane in FL every year, my kids literally get nauseous from the humidity!

My favorite things to do in Las Vegas are:
1. Sit by the pool in the afternoon.
2. Have a hotdog from the stand at the Suncoast.
3. Visit Red Rock Canyon and do some hiking.
4. Visit the Valley of Fire and do some hiking.
5. Have breakfast atThe Original Pancake House!

I dont gamble but would like to see Las Vegas at some point - I would like to see the White tigers and the beautiful hotels. I have heard from work colleagues there are many hookers theIr which puts me off as I live in an area where I never come into contact with hookers.

My favorite five things:

1.Play blackjack (can't get enough of it).
2.See La'cag (did I spell that right?
3. Drink margeritta's
4. see a stand up comedy act.
5. Play MORE blackjack.

One of the Strip magicians lives near me, and we can see the white tigers he keeps at his house---very cool. His son has brought white tiger cubs to school for show and tell!

You can only SEE hookers, if you are LOOKING for hookers, KWIM?? :rolleyes1

You're not just gonna run into hookers everywhere you go. You might not even know many of them ARE hookers. They're not just gonna come up and proposition you, so I wouldn't worry about it. It's likely you won't come in contact with them in Vegas either.

  • Shopping @ the Venetian or Ceasars
  • Cucumber Martinis @ FIX
  • Napping in a great hotel room
  • Piano bar @ NYNY
  • Trying out new restaurants that you couldn't eat at anywhere else.

In all the times I have been to Vegas, I've never seen or have come in contact with a hooker.

I love to go to Vegas and I don't like to gamble either. I have never encountered a hooker , but I have been given tiny little flyers advertising about them. Anybody else??? Back to your favorite things. SOOOOOOOO Many!!!
1. Relaxing by a pool with a good book and a nice cold drink. :drinking1 Favorite pools so far are the Mandalay, Mirage and Flamingo. Thinking about trying Ceasars, Bellagio or MGM. Any suggestions??
2. Bellagio Fountains. Just beautiful!!
3. Good show. Favorite so far is Mystere. :joker: I'm going for my birthday this September and can't wait to see Phantom at the Venetian.
4. The Forum Shops. An absolute shoppers paradise and so unique. But then again the other casino malls are beautiful also. Don't forget to see the statue shows while there. And in the Dessert Passage Mall it rains. I've yet to see the new Mandalay Mall. Gotta love it!! :goodvibes That's where the money goes. :rolleyes1
5. Great places to eat and everywhere you go there is something to see. Use to like the Pirate show pirate: at TI, but the new show looks stupid. Any comments???

Blue Man group!!!! My husband and I loved this trip so much we talked my boss into taking the company to a performance in Chicago. Same as Vegas but I still liked Vegas better!! So funny.

1) Manhatten Express coaster.
2) Watching the Bellagio fountains.
3) Doing a helicopter tour to the Grand Canyon and flying back down the strip.
4) Shopping in the hotels
5) Catching a show

Enjoying reading ~ We are off to LV soon and I have many ideas from the posts.

It could be the Alladin.....they have a fabulous buffet that you "escalate" down to get there.

WE were there for 5 days in Feb'06 and have not come across a "working girl" :rotfl: and since coming from the east coast we starts our day at 3AM just walking the strip.... we sleep early so we start early and still enjoy the lights in Vegas...

1)Bellagio = sleeping in early.. while the fountain is still dancin infront of you.

2)Walking to Alladin's Dessert passage and doing the mardigras ( never been to new orleans and this was the closest thing

3)hoping from one buffet to another

4)the 24 hour bus for $5.00

5)Watching "O" after a day at the spa at Bellagio :goodvibes
