DH and I just came back from a totally impulsive trip "home".
We stayed at SSR, Grandstand section, both a studio and 1-br (lucked out in that the move was from one room to next door ). The rooms were in great condition, first floor, and faced the golf course. Unbelievably relaxing to sip our morning coffees watching others do physical activities!
The upkeep of the grounds of SSR is phenomenal! It was the most well-groomed of all the resorts that we visited on this trip (had lovely meals in many ). One other piece of info: for anyone who had many nice interactions with Jim over at the OKW store, he's now at SSR, still as nice as ever!
We went to the GORGEOUS AKV models (twice , couldn't resist!). One of the CMs (Kat) gave us some info we didn't know..............according to her, Kidani will be a completely self-contained resort, including its own Concierge level! (thought only Jambo had it); also, she said that the "values" were going to be just the retro-fitted ones in Jambo (don't know if that's true, but that's what she said ). The Kidani villas will also differ from the models in that 1. the cabinets won't be as "worm-holed" (someone complained that they looked too distressed ) and 2. the sheers will be changed because there are tiger faces on the print (no tigers in Africa ); there'll still be animal faces, just African species. BTW, they're lovely. One thing I noted...........in the 1-br, there's no hair dryer in the 2nd bath (a minor detail, but not if someone needs one )
The F & G was lovely as usual. The only negative was the crowds! Definitely NOT a slow time of year any more. But all in all, it was a terrific getaway for us.
