Vero Beach - Just Back

Thank you for the summary. One really needs to venture out a little for "food/restaurants".

We stayed at Vero Beach many years ago. We tried again a few years ago and had to cancel because of Hurricane Matthew. The resort ended up shutting down the next day I think.

We are trying again for end of Feb./early March 2021. It is peaceful and relaxing. Here's to hoping it happens and we don't strike out again.

We are currently staying at Vero Beach in a ocean view studio/deluxe room. These are located in the main building which is really nice. The service so far has been outstanding. We ate at the onsite restaurant and the apps, entree’s, and desserts were all outstanding. The beach isn’t all that wide but definitely wide enough and it’s stretches the length of the resort so not crowded at all. The only complaint we have are the no see ums. We realized they had insect repellant lotion throughout the resort a bit too late. It did seem to help though and given the season there’s not a lot any coastline resort can do beyond make repellant available. We are DVC members and will definitely do another 2-3 day trip here again.

We love the Vero resort and have been there a few times. Unfortunately, last year, upon arrival we noticed a bad stench from the ocean due to red algae. We had to cancel and find another stay.

How remote is the resort in terms of other shopping? Is there a grocery nearby - can you get pizza/food delivered??
There was a pizza place that was walking distance that we enjoyed. There is a Publix that's probably 10 minutes away.

I'm guessing you wouldn't have any trouble placing a grocery order from Instacart.

We actually enjoyed the on site restaurants -- nothing amazing, but the prices weren't ridiculously expensive.

When the parks started closing the day before we were to leave and the need to use the points, we decided to change our Spring Break WDW trip to a Vero Beach long weekend. We had a 1 bedroom and had an amazing stay. When I was quickly researching, I had a hard time finding info in the forums, so I thought I would share my thoughts.

We aren't huge beach people and I don't know that I would ever have planned to use my points at Vero Beach but I was pleasantly surprised. As my sister said, it "felt like a WDW resort, the only thing missing was the bus to take you to the parks."

The staff and vibe of the resort were right on par with what we have come to know and love and you felt the "Disney Bubble," especially as everything was changing hour by hour due to the all the closings from the virus.

The pool was the highlight of our days. We played in the Atlantic ocean, rented Jet skis, played putt putt, did the Mickey Tye Dye t-shirts. There are a ton of additional activities to participate it. The girls spent hours in the hammocks just chilling out.

We had dinner with the pirates which was fun and a hit with the little one in our group, as we had promised characters for Spring Break. It was a fun time and helped fill the gap with the kids missing the WDW vacation they got for Christmas.

The only 2 negatives that I can comment on: One was the food selection. We had taken breakfast and snacks with us as we didn't change the grocery list when the location changed. The food is standard WDW resort food court selection and prices. BONUS discovery was a dole whip machine in the quick serve food area by the pool. Negative #2 was the incredibly small (and only) hot tub on the pool deck. My understanding after talking with CMs is that the refurb planned for later this year will include expansion of the hot tub size and count.

All things considered, we had a great time. I would likely book again if I had points or needed a break from the parks. It's a beautiful resort and I'm glad we gave it a chance.

Happy to answer any questions you may have.
We have never stayed at Vero Beach and have been thinking about. I found the same...difficult to find postings about it. Thanks so much for sharing your experience.

Vero Beach replaced our Disney World trip this summer due to COVID and was a great escape and place to relax! We stayed in the standard view inn room and found it to be spacious, clean and in great condition. Because of COVID we will again be going to Vero at spring break but with all the extra points we are going to try an Ocean view Inn room and looking forward to it. I modified from a BWV standard studio to get it which hurt a bit but just can’t go back to crowds yet, hopefully in ‘22!
You do have to travel 15 minutes or so for restaurants in either direction or outside entertainment. There is underground parking for every building though and we had no problems finding a spot. COVID prevention was consistent and everywhere, indoor dining was spaced and servers wore masks and face shields, we did not go as we weren’t comfortable even with precautions but they looked busy. We ate at the Market a few times which is typical quick-service, though in the evening did offer 3 different full meal platter type options and seats by the pool were available. Pool felt a bit crowded to us though they were spacing chairs appropriately so we hung at the beach most of the time. No see ums were terrible (August) in the evenings and even using the repellent our legs were bit up, so forget the lawn movie watching, but the bugs are seasonal I think.
Overall, a great option if you have points you don’t want to lose but are skeptical about COVID and the parks! We were able to have an enjoyable family Disney vacation this summer just with very different expectations!

Our home resorts are at WDW, but we have been going to VB each year for spring break, and absolutely love the relaxed vibe and top notch cast. Our trip this year was cancelled with the resort closure, and we really missed it. Have another stay booked for this coming spring break and we are really excited to return.

We ate at Squid Lips in Sebastian and Ocean Grill in Vero Beach. Squid Lips seating is on an outside covered pier with a relaxed old Florida vibe, it's on the inner coastal between the island and mainland we saw several dolphins and it you are taking kids they will enjoy feeding the fish off the pier but most of the food is fried (just a heads up). The food at Ocean Grill was very good, we sat in the restaurant so no view, but it is right on the ocean and they have a cute little gift shop. There are other little shops in the area to walk through if your interested in shopping.

Squid Lips is a great choice. We usually go once per trip. The last time we were there we saw Manatees swimming right off the pier, and were able to watch them play from our table. Truly an amazing experience. We also have come to love "Taco Dive" in Vero Beach, which, as the name suggests, is a taco restaurant. Great tacos at very reasonable prices.

Several options for groceries and a Pizza place within walking distance. There is also Vero Beach Outlets near by for shopping (clothing, etc.).

We ate at Squid Lips, too! Brought home the coconut that my drink came in and my son wants it to become his school lunch box. 🤔

We also went to the Navy Seal Museum, which he LOVED. It’s a giant boat playground with obstacle course and climbing wall included.

So glad I found this! We are heading to VB at the end of the month. This will be our first time there. We are staying in a 1BR. What did you think of the villa? Any recommendations on room location? Did you venture outside the resort?
Can you share how was your trip to Vero Beach?

We had a wonderful time. We enjoyed it so much we are headed back in July! It was just so laid back and relaxing. This was our first time staying in a 1BR so we utilized the kitchen for a few meals and ate at the QS restaurant. We ventured into Vero Beach a little for groceries and shopping. This time we are going to try more of the restaurants around Vero.
