Virtual Disneyland Day

This weekend I took a few days out and stayed at the newly opened (February 2020) Hard Rock Hotel in Dublin, Ireland. This was a weekend away that I had planned for April 2020 but had to reschedule due to lockdown.

Its about 10km from where I live, so I just took a regular city bus from the suburbs where I live to Dublin city centre.

On Sunday I spent the day watching YouTube

I started the morning going out to Starbucks and getting breakfast which I brought back to my room.
While I ate breakfast I watched Disneyland Hotel Disneyland Today Channel

I then recreated my June 2019 Disneyland Trip. I went out for a walk at lunch time and got food for lunch and my evening meal, which I ate in my hotel room. For the most part I watched in real time, meaning that the videos I watched were in the same order and around about the same time as I actually was in those lands and on those rides in June 2019.

That's amazing! Was it bittersweet? I sat with my grandson (3 1/2) yesterday and did some virtual riding/walking at DLR. He asked me if I could take him to DL (we've been there together 3 times and he loves it, of course!). He wanted to see the "dinosaur tunnel", which is what he calls the diorama on the DL RR train. That led to Peter Pan (his current favorite character/movie), Jungle Cruise ('member the hippos, Mom? --he has always called me Mom because that's what he heard my daughter call me. She's Mama. I'll be sad when that ends, lol). We ended up virtually doing our favorite things at DLR. I was surprised at the emotions all of this evoked; I'd sort of stowed away my homesickness (or whatever you'd call it) for Disneyland but it came rushing out as we watched together and relived our trips and experiences.

Anyway, that's a cool way you chose to enjoy a virtual trip! Hope you enjoyed it! Side note: youtube automatically started up a video of a dinosaur ride at Universal Hollywood. Wow! It looked pretty cool! We may have to take a side trip over there some time and check it out.

thanks, it was strange in a way, sometimes I just got caught up in the enjoyment, sometimes I just sat there thinking, will I ever get back, and oh my gosh, all the CM's , the people who make Disneyland function and just live and breathe Disney every day, the talent and skill and experience and knowledge that is being lost and wasted.

Strangely, it was Great Moments With Mr Lincoln that got me most emotional, and I'm Irish!!! Just how amazing his Gettsburg speech was, that it feels so relevant to this strange world we live in now. I usually go to this to escape the afternoon heat and sun and just to sit in air conditioning for a while, but watching it on video and just being able to appreciate the skill of the animatronic and Walts vision was great.

Also by watching the videos, other peoples viewpoint of the things I do and see, I noticed different things. I now have a checklist of things to find when I go back, like the circus elephants models at Dumbo, the hidden river walkway at Hungry Bear, actually go into the firehouse, find the seating area by Nemo lake / under the Monorail tracks and many others.
