What is Castaway Cay Like After Dorian?

DCL has said that some experiences will be unavailable...do we have any knowledge of what exactly these are as well as what to expect at Castaway right now? We are supposed to visit on the 25th and I was just wondering what to expect.

Here are some pictures from CC yesterday. Due to the weather, all excursions were cancelled yesterday, they didn’t give any clues as to what would be cancelled going forward.

I thought the island was in great shape, all things considered. They’re doing a great job cleaning it up and getting everything back to normal.

There's a woman losing her ever-lovin' mind over on the FB cruise page. She got blasted back to reality over her comments about plants being brown and that Disney lied to people about the extent of hurricane damage. Before she shut comments off (it wasn't going well for her) there were some very valid points being made in the comments.

People complain if the cruise doesn't stop at Castaway Cay. People complain if it does and it's not up and running 100%. Ideas about how pumping tourist dollars into the economy is helpful, etc.

I look forward to continuing to hear from more people who visit over the next few months, as to how it's doing. We'll be there in early January and I hope the island will be back to normal by then. Since we love Castaway Cay, it's natural to be concerned about any damage, no matter how minor. That is a separate concern from our humanitarian concern over the utter devastation on Abaco and Grand Bahama, but it is a valid concern, nonetheless.

Me too, just keeping an eye out for posts about the rebuilding from people who will go there in the next few months.

Shouldn’t you be comparing it to an island that was hit by a Cat 5 hurricane 2 weeks ago instead of what it normally looks like?
I was just making a statement that it looks rougher than I expected based on Disney's comments and how they played down the hurricane effects. Do I understand what hurricanes can do and the damage they cause..........absolutely as I have lived in Florida 40 plus years and have seen many hurricanes.

Knowing the island was opened back up to being an active cruise stop and how Disney likes everything to look perfect for their customers..............I think my expectations were that the clean up was farther along than it obviously is based on the photos above.

I can't get over how close the water is to the beach chairs in Serenity Bay! That is a lot of erosion! Such a beautiful place!

For comparsison I found this image of the [now previous] "normal" Serenity Bay:

I think the beach has been eroding for a while, even before Dorian. We were there in 2015 and 2017, and it looked pretty much like your photo. However, when we were there in May 2019, the beach was much steeper, to the point that the first row of loungers were not really usable. It was also difficult to make your way up and down the steep slope.
