Yikes, that still looks pretty rough compared to how the island is normally prepared for visitors.

I was just making a statement that it looks rougher than I expected based on Disney's comments and how they played down the hurricane effects. Do I understand what hurricanes can do and the damage they cause..........absolutely as I have lived in Florida 40 plus years and have seen many hurricanes.Shouldn’t you be comparing it to an island that was hit by a Cat 5 hurricane 2 weeks ago instead of what it normally looks like?
I think the beach has been eroding for a while, even before Dorian. We were there in 2015 and 2017, and it looked pretty much like your photo. However, when we were there in May 2019, the beach was much steeper, to the point that the first row of loungers were not really usable. It was also difficult to make your way up and down the steep slope.For comparsison I found this image of the [now previous] "normal" Serenity Bay:
