Been seeing things here and there about the pirate cruise. What is the Pirate Cruise? Is it a ride in one of the parks or is it an actual boat ride. Please let me know what and where it is
Thanks

Deb

The Pirate Cruise is one of the the Grand Adventures for children. It's not included with park admission. It sounds like something a 5 year old boy would absolutely love! I'm sure several DIS members have some pictures of it...I know the DIS member with the cat face screen name >>^..^<< has some really cute pictures of her little girl enjoying the cruise.

Here's the info:

Pirate Cruise - Children will wear pirate bandanas and follow clues to search Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon for buried treasure. They will sail to many exotic "ports of call" (Resort Marinas) to collect treasure. At the final port of call, children will have a snack and split up the "buried treasure." Children who are potty trained (no pullups) and ages 3-10 may attend. Lunch is provided (Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich, Gummy bears, Krispy Treat and Juice box). The Pirate Cruise will be closed for rehab from October 14 - October 31, 2002.

Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 10:00 to 12 noon
Available to all guests, Cost is $24.95 plus tax.

Our 4.5 yr old DD just took the cruise on 1/26. Despite cold she loved it. They go out on a pontoon style boat, modified with bench seats, and cover if needed. She was nervous, but once we found another girl for her to buddy up with it was great. The staff that ran it is very organized and upbeat. One staff member during the cruise pretends to try and steal it the treasure, which really gets the kids going. This is a no parent cruise. The kids get to keep some of the loot, mainly trinkets that wouldn't mean much to parents, but are the world to the kids. (Plastic mini-telescopes, rings, plastic lizards, necklace, gooey fake eyeballs, etc).
What we liked about the cruise is it was a non-park event, fairly small number of kids, and for a price much less than taking the family to a character breakfast you get a big memory. DD memory of the breakfasts run together, but the pirate cruise stands out.
