What made you smile today?

I was sat on the bus and this interesting character deposited himself next to me. Dressed up like The Penguin from the old Batman series. Top hat, cape, cane, ruffle, everything. Almost laughed!

I was sat in my office all content and happy. Some bright spark had the great ideal to test fire the fire alarm... the resulting bad language was highly inappropriate for the DIS! I guess that didn't make me smile... everyone else though was wetting themselves laughing!

Gumbo, I love to laugh and have a good time so many many things made me smile today.

To name a few.....
talking to two of my sons on the phone
playing Blackjack and talking to some of my favorite people at our nearby casino
visiting with my sister and her granddaughter
sharing jokes with my DH and my brother over coffee this morning
reading some of the comments on certain threads here on the DIS.

:) :) :)

My daughter had her tweets likes three times by one of her favorite actresses, Ruthie Connell.

Also, my daughter was notified today that she has been selected to be a part of the Masonic Youth Leadership Summit, being one of seven to represent her specific group. (In our state)

So really, it is her awesome day, but her happiness makes me smile.

DD12 made the honor band!!! Tryouts were last night. I'm not sure how many spots were available or how many kids tried out. But, I do know it was open to kids from 35 schools, grades 7 & 8, so a lot more didn't make it than did. She worked SO hard practicing this last month and I am so very proud :)

It's 3pm on Friday. School's out, the buses are gone, and I can go home for the weekend!

Also... DH is part-owner and CSO of a small biotech company. No income, but it's a nice outlet for him. He just email to say his company has been chosen as 1 of 7, out of a field of slightly over 3000, to present at an international competition in France next month. Investors are supposed to be the audience, so we'll see... but definitely prestigious, and exciting!!

I live in Europe and I am going back to the US to see my family in a week and 1/2. I haven't seen my Dad in 3&1/2 years. I can't wait. My children ages 13 and 4 will have a proper Halloween and DH and myself will have a proper Hamburger, Mexican, and Seafood.

I had a patient today who is scheduled for surgery Monday. We found out the equipment that is needed to be placed is manufactured in PR so there is a shortage in the USA. I had to cancel her surgery. After talking to vendors and actually getting in contact with some big wig at the company they okayed the patient using an extra that another vendor had in stock. Literally the last one available at the moment! I got to call her husband and put them back on the schedule at 4:25 pm. He almost started crying. It was worth going to work today.
