What memories stay with you?

DH and I were at MK one cold Florida winter. It was raining and was about 40 degrees outside (with windchill supposedly felt like 30). Definitely cold enough for this FL native.

As the rain began to worsen, we ducked into LTT for lunch without PS ressies and expecting to wait. As it was, no one wanted to be in the parks at all in such unpleasant conditions (the restaurant was nearly empty), so we were seated right away.

The thing that stands out the most in my memory is sitting at a small, cozy table far removed from the noise and bustle of the theme park atmosphere. Sipping hot tea, my husband and I chatted like it was our first date.

I felt so warm and comforted by the steaming helpings of "traditional" food. The service was exceptional and the atmosphere could never be replicated. DH and I are almost afraid to return to LTT for fear of tarnishing this treasured memory.

Here's a little dining memory I have. It was quite a while ago (6-7 years), my father and I were dining at the Backlot Express in MGM. If any of you have dined there you know that they have a lot of props around the walls. We were sitting near one of the "prop" sinks. While we were eating, some lady came over and tried to wash her hands in the sink thinking it was an actual working sink. It was funny and the sink did look like it was real. Since that time they have rearranged the tables so you no longer have access to the sink, guess it fooled a lot of people.

When our DS was 3, we were at Chef Mickey's for dinner. After an exhausting day, our son feel asleep on the monorail and didn't wake up when we were seated. Pluto was not going to leave our table until our son woke up. He sat next to him and nudged him -- he didn't wake up. He sat down on the floor and pulled our son onto his lap -- he still didn't wake up. Persistent Pluto just kept nudging and nudging him but he was really tired and still didn't wake up but started to cry just a bit. So, there was Pluto, sitting on the floor with our son still in his lap, rocking back and forth to get him back to sleep after he worked so hard to try and wake him up. It figures, though, that was the 1 time that trip we didn't have the video camera....the still shots just don't capture the moment. That's okay because we will forever have it as a fond memory for us.

My daughter turned 2 in April of this year and we did the land/sea package in June. One moment I will never forget is slowly leaving the MK (all 11 of us) as it closed at 11pm. We stopped to pick up pictures that they took in Toonland. I, my wife and our daughter were waiting for the rest of the family near the start fo Main St. There is a park bench there that has a bronze Minnie and Roy sitting on the bench. My little Princess sat on the bench and hugged on Minnie and kept giving her kisses. She then said "Thank you Minnie" The streetsweeper that came whistling by was about to cry. My wife did cry! This was about 12:20 am that night. Who says you have to leave at the posting closing time?

Bill

Woops! not excactly a dining moment, sorry that is what came to my mind.
At CRT my little princess looked right into the eyes of Snow White with a very serious look and said "Don't eat da apple Snow White!" That was awfully cute and she ahd only seen the movie like twice and half payed attention, at least I thought!

On our recent trip we ate at the Sci-Fi Theatre for lunch. It was a bit pricey in my opinion but in line with other "sit down" restaurants at a theme park. We really enjoyed this place. You sit in "cars" and watch on old time movie while you eat. It was the neatest experience and the kids loved it!

This is not really a sentimental memory, but one that always makes me remember the excellent service at WDW. My husband and I went back to Artist Point on our last trip, after having remembered this place as our best meal on our honeymoon. When the waiter came to take our order, I told him I was having trouble deciding between the buffalo steak (which I had had on the honeymoon) and the pan seared halibut. He told me that he would have the chef create a surf and turf plate with both, and even suggested a wine pairing. It was a fantastic meal. I grew up in a small town and rarely went to nice restaurants, so I still sometimes feel out of place at upscale places. I never feel like that at WDW, and usually pay the extra $ for nice sit-downs just for the experience.

For me, I guess it was at Chef Mickey's Mother's Day of 1999. I went to Disney with my now late mother, brother, his 5yo son and my then 9 month old daughter. My husband could not join us. My daughter is adopted, so it was an extra special trip for me. We had waited so long for a child. When Minnie came over to the table, Caroline just started bopping up and down in the high chair with excitement. Minnie gave her a hug and Caroline just plopped a big droolie kiss on Minnie's nose. Just then the napkin waving started and I started crying. It was so emotional. After breakfast we went to MK where they were giving flowers to all the mothers upon entrance. I was a mom now so I eagerly got my pink carnation. What a great memory, my first Mother's day and me having it at Disney World! :D

I have so many....I think this is one reason I focus so on the eating while at WDW, we always have something great happen in a restaurant at least once every trip!

I remember eating in AK at the place that is Donald's Breakfastauraus in the morning, but it was lunch and they had burgers and McDonalds fries (at least they did then). Anyway, we are sitting right there eating - just out from the lines. This couple comes up to our table (they were American, sounded midwestern) they said, "Where did you get that food". I said, "right there" and pointed over to the lines - we could've been more than 10-15 feet away. "Can we buy some?" was there reply, "Do they have fries? What do you call that thing your are eating? What is that your children are eating? How do we get that ?" We were all eating hamburgers and everyone had a huge order of fries. It was an interesting conversation. The rest of the trip we were asking each other, "What do you call that thing you are eating?"

Also, a great memory of Libery Tavern Inn. Similar to the original post, but it was hot instead of cold. We went in and it was cool and restful and it was like we were a million miles away from the hussle. We came out full, satisfied and refreshed....it is now on our "must do" list for every trip.

Here's another: eating at Le Cellier. The restaurant is VERY quiet. Suddenly my 3 y.o. DD lets out a belch that sounds as if it is rattling the windows! The waitress was so startled she dropped her writing pad! Everyone in the place looks at my husband like "how rude!" It was so loud everyone assumed it had to have come from him. I am very rarely embarrassed, but I could've crawled under the table on that one.

Goofy "asking" for my son's autograph at Donald's Breakfastasaurs because he "thinks" my son is Davy Crocket.

I could go on forever, but I will stop!

I guess mine would have to be last year when DGD(then 6) and I went to Cindy's breakfast. I looked at my DGD just when her mouth fell open and she dropped her fork when she saw Aladdin. She didn't get all nervous with the princeses, just Aladdin. She nearly spilt her milk & everything.LOL

DW and I had a wonderful dinner in the castle . We had a window table overlooking the carousel and while we were having dessert the lights dimmed and we watched the fireworks. Afterwards we were escorted out and the park was almost empty. We took pictures in front of the castle and the CM with us took one of us.

That is one of our most beloved memories of any vacation.

while planning our 1st trip in 2000 my dh and dd made fun of me and rolled their eyes at my enthusiastic planning of every meal and detail of our wdw trip. i spent hours roaming around the dis boards :D it all paid off when we walked into san angel inn and their mouths dropped open at the beautiful atmosphere there. as soon as we were seated my dd said "wow, am i ever glad you did all that planning!" this dining experience was only surpassed by our patio seats at rose and crown to watch illuminations... a perfect evening.

So many, at least one from each trip. But my favorite had tobe at LTT when I took my fiancee on his first trip to WDW. He was overcome with everything, the amazing service, the attention to detail, the cleanliness through all the parks. But we hadn't seen to many characters, at dinner he got to meet Goofy, Pluto, Chip and Dale, but when Minnie came over you'd have thought he was a love sick school boy. She kissed him on the cheek and he started blushing. It was such a magical moment. Probably the most perfect meal I've had at WDW.

The one memory I have is holding hands with my wife with my new wedding band on walking over the International Gateway from the Beach Club on the First day of our Honeymoon
