What 'unusual' thing is sold out at your supermarket?

People will soon start to realize that the coronavirus hasn't affected supplies. This is why education (secondary and post-secondary) needs to be free.

People freak out about supply chain and fearing transportation of things will get disrupted, but fortunately we are still aways away from that

Plus things snow ball - word gets out of toilet paper going so people feel they gotta get some "just in case" and then it goes faster and other freak out so they gotta strategize how to get some and so they rope drop the stores to get TP, etc

Same thing with Peter Pan at Disney - people hear that it gets a line so they plan around how to get on which only adds to the line, and it snow balls

Meaning TP is the Peter Pan of quarantine supplies .... Or that Peter Pan is the TP of rides

DW sent me out with a list at 7am hoping they had stocked shelves overnight.

Still no tp of course.

But the weird one was banana peppers. We are making pizza for dinner tonight and the section of jarred peppers was completely wiped out. Pizza will be a little bit less flavorful:(

Ask at your local stores what time they start to put things out. Our local Walmart starts bringing the items out at 6pm every evening.

So I live in Winter Garden... Florida......... out the back gate of Disney off the 429...

On a daily basis we have to compete with the tourist, and during this time of year the snowbirds...
I am not complaining about either, just stating what our daily lives are like...and what we deal with...

So basically everything is gone, things are starting to show up, but as they stock the shelves people are wiping out everything, Our local Publix, and Aldi... did implement 2 items or 2 deals on many items and did stick to it, and not allowing people to hoard... so I totally applaud them for sticking to it... Wal-mart as always was a free for all people pushing and shoving... It's worse than when we have a hurricane off the coast...

No hand soap or hand sanitizer
No OTC med's or vitamins
No feminine hygiene products
No paper goods- paper towels, toilet tissue, kleenex, paper plates, napkins
No diapers, formula, baby wipes -
No basic canned goods, no soup to be found
No bottled water
No fresh meat
No fresh produce
No eggs, milk, and coffee creamer...

Everything that is being restocked and hit the shelves is gone in minutes... I would like someone to explain to me why someone would need every box of Kleenex or other brand of tissues in the store.. I watched a lady clear the shelf's at Publix and then stand there and argue with manager... she was yelling at him that she was entitled to it, as she was from up north and paid for him to live... and "how ignorant you people from the south are" Yep you read right... Thankfully he stood his ground, and actually another manger brought him a empty cart, he took the one with the kleenex away from her, and put 2 boxes in the empty cart, then her husband rolled up with another cart full of paper towel, and toilet paper, then he took 2 of each out and into the empty cart... and had the other manger escort them to the cashier... and took the rest back shelves... and this was at 7:15 am ... quite entertaining...

I am heading out to pick up drying cleaning, and I am going to go into Publix's to look for some ibuprofen, I need the ibuprofen...not hoarding or stockpiling it...

I will report if things are looking up for us local...

Good for the manager for standing his ground! Nobody needs a cart full of Kleenex! (And shame on that customer for pulling the "I pay for you to live here" bit...ugh!)

You would not BELIEVE the number of people over the yeas that screamed at me, especially when I worked in Emergency Management, "I pay your salary!!!" because I was a public servant. And - if there was some kind of emergency going on, it got even worse.

First off - you think SCREAMING nasty things at me make me, or any other rational, feeling, human being MORE willing to help you? Rally?

Secondly - I guess that's a veiled threat to FIRE me from "your payroll" or something, or maybe "bribe" me to meet your demand(s) (as that's when it usually became employed as a strategy - as a way of demanding something).

Last but not least - my thought ALWAYS was - "If you truly DO pay my salary, then I deserve a RAISE, and especially for being yelled at like this, by people like you!"

Thank goodness I had grown, and continued to grow, a thick skin, and also some compassion, and realized people were just expressing their fears on the nearest target at the time, which happened to be me. I TRIED not to take it personally, although it sometimes sent me home depressed, saddened, disappointed, and yes - at times - TICKED - at human primal behavior. That's another reason I shared a POSITIVE experience I had this morning in another thread, and without being Pollyanna, I try to spread genuine warmth, caring, and positivity anywhere I can, whenever I can, in my daily life, and especially in times like we're living through now.

My husband has been going to the store and spared me from having to go. Normally we buy the gallons of Lactaid milk, I'm lactose intolerant, and someone had pretty much cleared out all the lactose free milk. WTH!

There will be shortages soon, but you will not starve. The truckers have no traffic, but the rest areas arw shut down and there complaining about traffic through certian places with travel bans. Retail will produce more if they can get the material, but will limit choices. So , maybe plain chips instead of 16 varieties. Stay safe all, get what you can to survive a few weeks. As i tell my daughter wants and needs are diffrent. I dont want to eat spam, but if i have to i will.

I went to 3 stores yesterday and bananas were sold out at every one. Who the heck is hoarding the bananas? All the other produce was stocked. The first store we went to had no oatmilk of any kind. Oatmilk? Really? I didn't know that many people even drank oatmilk? Luckily the third place had that but I had to stop at Starbucks this morning just to get a banana.

I have so many bananas, but no more than usual in my house. We all have them for breakfast so I always buy at least 20 in a variety of ripeness

Living here in Fl. born and raised, while DH and I have lived other place's moving with his company Central Florida is home ( Winter Garden)... I'm a true local... and a total Disney Girl...

I have heard, seen and witnessed alot of crazy behavior... and just thought what the heck just happened, or who would think or do something like this much less say or do the things that you are saying and doing right now!

When people act like out like this... Is really is just simple bullying... They are trying to bully you into giving into something that they feel entitled to... It's the sense of entitlement that really burns my cookies...
As locals we just look the other way for the most part, we are raised up to understand that some people just don't know any better, and should be prayed for, and pitied for someone not teaching them any manners or the proper way to act, then my all time favorite and one that I use daily is "Well Bless your Heart" ... which in the south has a plethora of meanings... :rotfl2:::yes:::thumbsup2

Stay safe and Pixie dust away...

Am i missing something? whats wrong with Dasani water?

Everyone has their "thing" when it comes to bottled water. I don't mind Dasani but hate Evian water, they put bicarbonates in it(baking soda) and it gives it this slimy texture. But many seem to love it.
