Where to watch a game?

I'll be in town while the NBA Finals are going on. I figure my hotel-casino has a sportsbook, but I was thinking the Westgate SuperBook. I understand that it's massive, but I have no idea what options I'll have to eat there. I do understand that a lot of these sportsbooks are cracking down on people getting free alcohol even if they don't have a bet. I haven't done it in Vegas, but I remember being in a Nevada sportsbook when they just came around and asked anyone sitting there if they wanted alcohol without checking for a betting slip or a drink ticket.

I won't have a car, but I've already bought a monorail ticket.

Oh heck I want to say NYNY had a good sportsbook to watch it has been so long. My husband has never sat in there to drink. There is a nice hotel way at the end out of the strip area. It is so quiet in there. I need to reflect the name. I will think about the name and let you know. You could take a cab.

Got it, Suncoast casino, it also has a theater, bowling alley. Just nice atmosphere. You can google how far it is from where you are staying.

Too far away without car. I'm pretty sure that I can just watch the game from my room and even bring some alcohol with me, but if I'm in Vegas I might as well soak in the atmosphere. Not sure what to do about a drink, since drink tickets seem to require a $50 minimum bet from reading message board posts and blogs.

I'm working there on Sunday and I'm not sure when my work day is going to end. The game is on ABC and I should be able to see it on any of my devices, but I figure that a sports book should be a better atmosphere. I'm still wondering where all the bargains went. It used to be possible to just flag down a cocktail waitress for a beer and buy $2 hot dogs.

We stay at the Westgate every year, for an event that just happens to be during March Madness, so have watched a lot of basketball there. It's a huge area with every possible sporting event televised, and the game will be on the biggest tvs. But the food is mediocre (snack bar with pizza, burgers, nachos, etc) and I have never seen anyone offered a "free" drink (but we aren't huge betters either). My favorite place is cabana by the pool, but we also frequent the hotel bars where they always have the games on and you (sometimes) get drinks for playing video poker. Free drinks just from hanging in the casino are a thing of the past and there aren't many bargains left on the strip. Haven't been downtown in years so not sure if you can still find them there.

I got tired. Took an early morning flight, only had about 4 hours of sleep, and I couldn't check in early at my hotel so I went to do some work. We also went out for a late lunch/early dinner and I went into a food coma. Finally checked in an too tired to go anywhere. So I'm just watching on the 60" HD TV in my room.

Hope you're having or have had a good time.
In my experience, I was not required a $50 minimum bet. I just had to be actively playing a machine or been recently actively placing bets at the book. If I am just seated in the sportsbook lounge, and watching the TV, then no. I don't expect anything free nor will I get it. But if you're at say a video poker table and doing some watching and playing yes, they'll usually send one your way. Some places had the red light green light video poker. Green light means free drink.
Out on the general floor, as long as I was actively gambling, they came by more than frequently enough for me. Whether the casino used the red light green light thing or not there was little difference imo with the rate of freebies as with only human monitoring. If you're not actively gambling, they'll usually pass you by. At the Westgate, last time I was there, the machines monitored and when it was time for a freebie, It let me know with a picture of a martini and I could order one right on the machine!! Again I noticed little difference in the rate of freebie. The days of sitting there trying to look like you're playing and getting free drinks are pretty much over. You might get yourself one. But that is likely it. Also, you're going to get their base level booze in those freebies. You're going to get the base version of most anything. Don't expect Johnny Walker blue label scotch or Gran Patron Burdeos Tequila unless you're throwing in big chips at the tables.
