Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes Part 3

BTW - I haven't tried gathering petticoat net with my ruffler foot but I sure hope it works because gathing the net by hand is not fun.

It works! I've made many, many ruffled yards of net for DD's tutus, the real 'pancake' style for dance competitions. It zips through all the net like you won't believe. My Marissa is the black swan.

It's not hard to stay cheap when you're making clothes for a 17# baby. :rotfl: She only needed 1.5yds of fabric + the tulle to do the skirt. I dread when she gets bigger and wants one of those mondo twirl skirts w/ like 10yrs of fabric! :lmao:

I have a 17 pounder at home to. She is 13 1/2 months old. We call her the kitten although a 17 pound cat would be considered a fat cat!

If I miss answering anyone, please let me know because I'm a bit out of it today. I'm struggling with a nasty bug and I probably shouldn't even be at the computer... but it's hard to stay away. ;)

My zigzag usually curled the edges under a little. I didn't worry about it since the main purpose was just to reinforce the seams and it wouldn't be seen unless someone was checking the inside. You might be able to reduce the rolling by adjusting the thread tensions but unless you think it will cause problems with how the item looks on the outside, I wouldn't worry too much.

The ruffles on the JoJo skirt are simple strips of fabric, finished on all edges (the ends are rounded) and gathered down the middle. One the skirt is sewn together, I lay it out on a cutting board and pin the ruffles in place trying to make sure I don't catch extra fabric under them. Then I just stitch in place and remove the gathering stitching (which I really should do in a contrasting thread since that makes it easier to know which thread is which).

Lisa,
Thank you so much for the help. I sincerely appreciate it...esp. since you are not feeling well. I hope you feel better soon.
My husband asked to look at the "boutique" clothes I have been telling him about and I showed him your ebay store...he was oohing and aahing right along with me :) Your work is beautiful.
Thanks again for sharing your tips.
Kay

I'm glad I'm not alone w/ small kids. ;) She should be right on track to be the same size as Evan who is almost 3 and finally 26# (after lunch and fully clothed!).

Here are pictures of DD "almost in school dress." She is only 3, so no school or preschool yet! I am not so tickled with this, but she was veery excited. Makes us both happy:goodvibes

Maureen, that is such a cute dress!
I posted a picture of Emily's first day of school, here's a few more of her outfit. Sorry it's not Disney related, I'm just so proud of her! She loves school, and can't wait to go back tomorrow! Thanks to CastleCreations for posting the "first" back to school outfit using this fabric. I love how DD's outfit turned out (not to mention all the other awesome BTS sets using this print!).

Just because she's too stinkin' cute!
IMG_1825.jpg

I agree, she is too stinkin cute!!! Thanks for sharing the adorable pictures!

But this one is my favorite.

And this is what DS was doing while I took pictures of DD.

Yep, he's stuck!

You are my kind of MOM! The little one is stuck, and the first thing YOU do is TAKE A PICTURE!!! Other mothers might help the little guy out, but you put your fellow DISers first, and took a picture to share with us!!! :rotfl2: That is SOOO something I would do!

I made a petticoat that was totally separate so she could wear it with other gowns. The bodice was a camisole style with snaps up the back (the no-sew kind). I used ribbon for the straps so they'd be pretty if they showed but the bodice was white lining fabric. The skirt portion had 4 layers, 3 or crinoline/petticoat net and the one next to her skin was cotton. We did a few trial wears at home to be sure there wouldn't be a problem with itchies and I had to adjust a couple things. I made sure to encase the top gathered edge of the netting between the layers of the bodice (which was lined). She wore the petticoat a lot both for dress up and for a couple weddings.

Thanks for the tips! I was wondering how the best way to put those ruffles on would be!

Zoe looks gorgeous in her princess gown!! That is really pretty!

And, thanks for the petticoat tips!!! You are on a roll, I hope you get feeling better!

Here's some pics of my littlest just learning to walk. I'd like to find some Mickey hands to applique on. Any ideas?

OHHH, how sweet!!! He looks adorable!

WOW!!! You made that??? It's amazing! There are some directions for making real tutus in the bookmarks site, I found it pretty fascinating. Not something I wanted to try though, it looked too hard! Do you make all her tutus?

I worked on applique a little today. I just worked on straight lines actually. I think with a little practice I will be able to figure it out. It is not so scary.

I finished DD Cinderella Cleaning Dress. DH said I was not to call it Cindy's Working Girl dress anymore!:rotfl: I would like to applique Jaques and Gus on the apron and one of the birds on the head scarf. Well, I can dream and I have til March for this outfit.

Cinderella is going in the closet so DD will not see it! She is hard to surprise. At least I will have one. I really really want her to try it on though!!!

I used the vine/flower looking stitch on my Singer to add a little decoration.

WHEN DO YOU SLEEP???????

You are amazing! I love this dress too!

Aimee, Lydia is standing here looking at the Cinderella dress and asked who made it. I told her, "The Mommy that made the pretty Belle dress." So, she wanted to know who it was for, so I said, "It's for her daughter." Lydia paused a moment, then asked, "Well, when is she going to make something for me?" You have two big fans in our house!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

dd16 and I laughed so hard at this! I know the little guy is ok, or else you wouldn't have posted it so lightheartedly, so we were ok laughing "with" you!

I'm glad I'm not alone w/ small kids. ;) She should be right on track to be the same size as Evan who is almost 3 and finally 26# (after lunch and fully clothed!).

The baby is in the 10th % for height and 25% for weight.

My three year old is in the 98th % for height and 70th % for weight. She is 42 inches tall! Tall and skinny!!! I would love to built like a super modelpixiedust: Those two are differnt in every way. It is nice becuase they balance each other out!

I'd like to try Jaques & Gus too, but I need to remember my new motto KISS (Thanks Tom!!!)

Sounds like someone needs to make that child some clothes!! Tom is gone out of the dining room, so you have nothing holding you back now!!!!

These were from the pirate and princess party in February - Jack was sooo cute and sooo nice...

I would be beside myself and giggle like an IDIOT!!! I think I'm semi-cool in these situations. But I just can't say I wouldn't say something totally inappropriate to this "Jack"...:rolleyes1 I'm pretty sure I'd be escorted out of WDW and humiliate my entire family for generations to come. BUT WORTH IT!

AIMEE!!! It's so cute! Makes me want to mop the floor and clean the tapestries (all "none" of them ;) )

Now either go to SLEEP or give us some of whatever you are takin'! :rolleyes1

(JUST KIDDING!)

LOOK at his cuteness! I love his LEGS!!!

Spongie did something a little like this and appliqued some Mickey Hands for pockets! It's super cute, maybe we can get her to post it???? (Spongie!?) It's really different and still boy-ish.

What a little sweet pea!!!! :cutie: :cutie: :cutie:

Yah, I do not sleep as much as I should. I never have. I was one of the kids who never napped! I guess that is why my DD3 does not nap. At least my girls sleep at night.

Have you ever seen the Elf. If you have not . . . you just have to. It is the funniest movie on the face of the earth. My DH teases me because Buddy the Elf made a rocking horse in the middle of the night. The same night that he said he got a great night sleep. A full 45 minutes!!! That is me.

I make vintage reproduction Christmas Decorations. They are complicated and I do not get to work on them much during the day so I work at night. Sometimes my day really begins when my girls go to bed. My FIL asked me why I was tired last Friday night. He said with Hannah in school two days a week you should get plenty of rest. I guess he forgot about the non walking todfant I have at home!

Here is a picture of my booth from one of the shows I did last year. I have been the grasshopper who played all summer. Now I have to get working big time.

My kids are the same way. Evan is 26# at 33 mos, AJ was that at 13 mos! :rotfl: I was sure I was killing Evan as a baby b/c he was so small, and is so small. No one believes he's potty trained and is almost 3 b/c he's not only skinny, he's super short (no height chart).

You have to stop drinking that icky Diet Pepsi!!

I am a Coke Zero girl all the way!!! It keeps you up for days!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

JK- I have been known to wake up in the middle of the night drink a frosty cold Coke Zero and fall right asleep. I am thirsty now.

Wow you've been busy again. I missed a couple days (too much on my plate right now) and lots to catch up on. Everything is so terrific I'm just so impressed...

Here's what I did yesterday, it's not Disney, but inspired by you lovely ladies (and the few super sewing guys we have!). It's far from perfect and I learned a lot of things I'd do differently next time, but I only spent $5 on all the fabric so you can't go wrong really.

This is adorable and so is your baby! Great Job

Before my DD went to school I let her try on her Belle gown. Now the dress is going to be hung in my closet in hopes she will forget about it :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I think she loves it!

Stunning, your're amazing!

Hi: we're back! I made a little custom boutique trip report http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=20642462&posted=1#post20642462 if you guys want to check out the kids wearing their Disney outfits in Disney. We had a great time but I am exhausted! I stayed up way too late watching the FSU game and Megan was up at 5 in the morning.

Love all the outfits....Now that I've seen your trip report I'm trying to remeber why I'm going to Hilton Head next month instead of Disney...It's was my choice - what the heck was I thinking?:confused3

Here are pictures of DD "almost in school dress." She is only 3, so no school or preschool yet! I am not so tickled with this, but she was veery excited. Makes us both happy:goodvibes

Uhhh is your checkbook ready for a girl though????? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: (jk)

Lord mine is still trying to figured out what happened:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

And this is what DS was doing while I took pictures of DD.

IMG_1833.jpg

Yep, he's stuck!

:rotfl: :rotfl: So glad my kids aren't the only ones! When my oldest did it all I heard was crying and I was frantic trying to figure out where he was. He was fine though and I still laugh about it.

Geez, Lisa, Even the "undergarments" you make are pretty!

Just what I was thinking

I really need to give up the idea of sewing...I'm so out of my league

:rotfl2: You are too funny!!

Just realized that those beautiful princess dresses that call for horsehair braid in the hem are actually SIMPLICITY patterns, not McCalls....Made Sleeping Beauty last night...now just have to make sure it fits!
