Can someone please tell me what sort of a pattern I would use to make a top like the boutique-y custom ones you see on Ebay that get worn with the ruffle hemmed jeans? I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post a link to the auction I'm referring to but if anyone has any idea as to what I'm talking about can you point me in the right direction?

If you look in the first post on this thread the is a photobucket link to all the outfits made. Maybe you could copy one of those that you like and repost it and then we might me able to tell you what pattern was uses or how it was made.
A lot of the patterns are from youcanmakethis . com. You might check that site and see if the style you like is there.

hey lori! i always love seeing pics of your noah and emma! my noah will be 7 in feb and my emma will turn 4 in dec! how funny!

and both my kids love little house on the prarie. except after watching it one day, the show highway to heaven was on the hallmark channel and as we were flipping through, noah said, "Hey! its about time that charles and mr edwards got a car!" :rotfl2:

i was going to buy a pioneer pattern the last time joanns had a sale, but they scared me!:scared1:

anyway, the outfits are great!

GLORIB-

i love chunk! your avatar is so cool! my cousin used to do the truffle shuffle all the time! (truth be told, i could probably do it these days after 2 c sections and 35 xtra pounds later!)

i love the pirate outfit- every bit of it! is is the ycmt pattern for petal skirt? im headed your way (inlaws in blue springs and warsaw) for thanksgiving! how about i pop over and you can teach me how to sew/applique as beautifully as you do!

-tonya

Lori- my first thought was that your Emma was Holly Hobbie

See? Love alternative-use costumes: 3 in 1> Pioneer girl, Laura Ingalls, and Holly Hobbie.

Your son is cute too! Kinda Davy Crockett-ish. Daniel Boone? Huck Finn?

Cindy B Good- I was wondering what is a pj exchange??-
We draw names to buy new pjs for Christmas Eve. We just don't do it for the kids, but include all the adults. Last year I got into the mood & sewed both Star Wars pjs for DS(3) & Handy Manny pjs for DS(6) My sister bought me these red silky pj bottoms & I had to change because I slid right off the couch! I made her a pair of ballerina monkey pjs with slippers.

I'll share my latest creation. It's for DD's pirate skirt - someone posted a link to a design of a pirate mickey head with a tiara on it, and that inspired me right away. I had been struggling figuring out what kind of shirt to make. I was leaning toward peasant top thanks to all you ladies who voted for the peasant shirt, but I just loved that design, so I went with it. However, my take on her design was much cuter in my head than on DD's shirt. I hate when that happens. I still like it, but I wonder if I should just make a peasant shirt, too, and see what I like better.

OK, so here it is:

I think the part I'm not crazy about is that I wish the tiara showed up a little better. Well, that and the eyepatch doesn't show up well, either.

Whew! Sorry for the ginormously long post!

GloriB, you did it!!!!:woohoo:  :yay: :cheer2:
It looks fabulous!!!!! Love it!
I think you were very resourceful with the tiara! I mean we just talked about this creation yesterday, and now you've completed it! You're amazing!!
I'm casing this!!! Great job!

GRRRR, why is it I am the only one who can ever just pull up my big girl pants and deal w/ situations when they arise?
 I'm casing that quote! I hear ya! When we went to "the place with the mouse" everyone was on each other's last nerve (all the way there & all the way back) until we got into the park & then we were all lovey/sweet! Disney magic get's all those things resolved! Hang in there for the love of DIS! :hippie: :goodvibes

This is Rooney being silly with her. They were all just great with her. She got shy once it was our turn & didn't want to say much.

My kids like the Doodlebops too! Everytime they watch it & bop around dancing, I just :happytv: thinking all the while...what do those people look like under those character get ups? AND I hope that paint is non-toxic!!:rotfl:

:rotfl: Your comment about dressing this way for church made me remember a woman from our church 30+ years ago. She was a beautician and kept her hair a light blond... and big! For some occasions, though, she'd use KoolAid (unsweetened) to tint her hair to match her outfit. I swear it looked like she had a big pile of cotton candy on her head some weeks. We were very impressed... back then. :rolleyes1

FYI - I have used KoolAid to add color to my hair for fun. I don't have bleached hair but it still shows up a little. However, it doesn't wash out immediately so I thought I'd better add this warning in case someone wants to try it out. popcorn::

I am soooo going to church like this, the weekend after Thanksgiving! I mean nothing says "Happy Holidays" like cotton candy hair!! :lmao:

I LOVE this idea! How cute! I may need to do this sometime. The PJ exchange part, not the sliding off the couch part.

Do you mean something like this?

If so, there is a pattern on www.youcanmakethis.com I think it is called strip work jumper. You can either follow that pattern as is, or you can make the bodice longer if you want it to be onger (to put an applique on it or something). You can also adjust the skirt part to be a single pice of fabric rather than being in strips. There's lots of variations. It's pretty simple, and I think it's very cute.

Okay I have been away from this thread for awhile and I think I have been having withdrawls! Haha. Anyway, I love everything you guys have created. I can't believe how fast this thread grows!!

Anyway, I thought I would post a couple pictures of the outfit I made for my little one to wear to MNSSHP. She absolutely loves it...I have to admit I really like it too.

It looks great! I know what you mean about losing the drive to sew. I have 1 Chrstmas dress finished & now I have to go do the other one & I don't wanna!! (And with no one on here today, I've had no excuse. :lmao: )

My kids like the Doodlebops too! Everytime they watch it & bop around dancing, I just :happytv: thinking all the while...what do those people look like under those character get ups? AND I hope that paint is non-toxic!!:rotfl:

Well, I heard from one of the other Moms in line that Deedee is really pretty & that Moe is REALLY cute. I personally haven't seen them without the makeup, though.

Oh, I could so do the truffle shuffle - easily! That's why I love Chunk so much! He's chubby and lovable!

Hey, a lot of my family is from Warsaw - we were just there a few weekends ago for a family reunion!

Oh, that is just too cute! You did a great job - you can tell she really loves it!

These aren't the greatest pics but wanted to share the costumes I made for my kids. They are more than pleased with them and that puts a smile on my face.

Parker as Island Princess Barbie

Michael as Jack Skellington (The Nightmare Before Christmas)

A better pic of Michael's costume. My nephew is also in this pic, he had already taken off his doctor costume.

Those are some really cute costumes.

Where is everyone today??????

Photobucket FINALLY decided it liked me enough to upload a pic. This is dd4's Christmas dress. Now I just have to finish dd1's which oddly seems to have the same amount of ruffle on the bottom. Still not sure how that happened. I just hope it fits ok (I sooo don't want to have to redo it later).

I finally got around to looking at this site. If you go to the free patterns, there is a download for how to use your ruffler. I haven't read it yet, but it has a gauge, ruler, how to work with lace. Thought someone else may want to take a look at it.

I had a Miss Piggy puppet too! I actually have a pic of me as a kid with it (I got it for Easter when I was around 5 or 6). I haven't been able to find my photo album for a while now. :confused3 Maybe I should spend more time cleaning and less time :surfweb:

MouseTriper I love your DD outfit! We love N.B.C. around here. I wanted to add I love the background on the bench shot. It makes me feel like I could get up and walk right down main street! :cloud9:

Dh is out of town tonight and I really really should not have watch Ghost Whisperer. :scared1: Oh well I am off to watch some BBC's Emma and knit. My idea of a perfect evening.

LOL - you are the second person to say Hollie Hobbie! I loved her - my bed had a canopy when I was little and she was plastered all over it. Yup - Noah is Davy/Daniel.
