We ate here on the final evening on our trip, and we really enjoyed it!
We arrived and were seated after a short wait. However, we were asked to move tables by a rather embarassed waitress after about two minutes. We didn't mind (Bless her, I think she was really scared to ask us!) as we got moved to a much better table! After we'd got seated, we examined the menu and then waited. And waited. And waited. Yes, service was very slow. It was very busy though, and we don't mind waiting. Our waiter eventually arrived and was very apologetic for the slow service.... We didn't mind really. However, if you'd been starving or really thirsty it would more than likely have been a problem....
Robert went for the New York Strip Steak:
He likes his steak quite rare, but in France he generally orders it medium as it comes out closer to British rare...
While I went for the seabass with a spinach and pine nut salad:
These meals were both excellent, and thats an understatement! They were very very good and excellently cooked.
For dessert, Robert opted for the 'Chocolate Chocolate' dessert, which was his favourite dessert of the trip.... A chocolate and caramel fondant with peanut butter ice cream, strawberries, and cream, laced with a tiny bit of Southern Comfort (Which Robert said wasn't a problem as he couldn't taste it!):
After some deliberation (I wanted nearly all of the desserts, with the Key Lime pie looking very tempting indeed!), I opted for the Cafe Gourmand:
The desserts were chocolate mousse, coconut cake, and finally, my favourite, the chocolate and lemon tulip.... You'd think the flourescent green colour would put me off, but no! I thought it looked and tasted amazing!!
We loved the atmosphere too- The live music from the piano player was a lovely touch (I think thats what totally bowled Robert over!).... I do think it could do with a little bit of partitioning though as it can get very noisy as it is essentially just one room....
Total bill was 85.50Euro....Including our soft drinks.
We really enjoyed it here, and would go back again in a heartbeat. I think this restaurant and the California Grill are the main reasons Robert already wants to plan another trip!
