The Flat Adventures of Weird and Ninja

Haha, Irky, that's awesome! I've gotten my kids to be absolutely and utterly wow-ed at my drawings. I'll draw something and say, "Aren't I an amazing artist?" and they all agree if they know what's good for them. Haha, just kidding!

Ooo, and in high school when my friends and I were doing a group video project on a bunch of mythology stories, I compared the Sirens to Jigglypuff from Pokemon! I played it on my flute and we had a boat heading straight towards that Jigglypuff song. Although I don't know how well-known Jigglypuff is in this day and age ...

Hahaha. I always make mine say I'm their favorite teacher! ;)

I love that analogy to Jigglypuff!!! I'm going to steal it from you and use it tomorrow and next year! Thanks. One of my students sang, "Jigglypuuuuf" almost everyday last year, so I think many of them still know who she is.

Hello everyone! Weird and I are still alive despite the fact that we haven't made a sound on this thread in almost 2 months! This isn't really a flats post since I didn't have Weird and Ninja with me when we went out, but I wanted to document the day anyway!

Christmas has never been my favorite holiday. Though the reason for Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ, is extremely important, I don't like how materialistic it is. Thanksgiving is really my favorite holiday because food with good friends and family warms my heart.

That's why when Weird and I talked about whether or not we'd get Christmas gifts for each other I gave an interesting Christmas list. I said that I only wanted 1 of 3 things: an engagement ring, a trip to WDW, or sushi. Hehe, yes, I said those things even though I knew I'd get the sushi. An e-ring wouldn't make sense now because neither of us are really at the stage that we can be engaged (in terms of our life stages, not in terms of where we are in our relationship). A trip to WDW wouldn't be possible or realistic either because of the financial aspect and also for the sheer fact that our schedules just don't line up. I was absolutely fine with the sushi, hehe, because I only have it with Weird.

The Saturday before Christmas, we hung out at my house. Then we went out to dinner at Outback and that was my Christmas gift to him. Yum. Food.

Then we didn't see each other on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day since I'm with the two sides of my family. So we didn't have a chance to see each other again until Saturday and Sunday.

Yesterday I went over his house after church because my parents had other familial obligations. I was all excited for sushi because I was craving. Well, we get to his place and he gives me the first part of my Christmas gift. Because yes, he actually did get me gifts even though dinner was supposed to be it!

What was it? It was part of one of my requests! Instead of a trip to WDW, he got me The Magic Kingdom Game! Ahhh!!! How cool is this?

IMG_4711.jpg

IMG_4713.jpg

That alone got me super excited. We didn't have a chance to play the game yet, but we definitely will! I was examining the game board so much (even at home today too!). All the rides and the buildings I recognize. And then they have the 3-D buildings to make it even more realistic! Ahhh, Magic Kingdom is my all-time favorite Disney park so it was just perfect!

IMG_4714.jpg

But what do you know? That wasn't it. Remember what the other thing I wanted besides WDW and sushi? An engagement ring! So maybe it wasn't quite an engagement ring

... instead it was this! It's so exciting to open up a box that says Disney Fine Jewelry on the outside! Ahhh!

I had found this ring online on QVC when I was searching for Disney jewelry. I had linked it to Weird along with other things just because we always share Disney things with each other (haha, like I already have things picked out for our bathroom and kitchen and whatnot - like a tea kettle with a Mickey head on the cover). Anyway, he apparently bought it right away but didn't know when to give it to me. Christmas was perfect!

IMG_4715.jpg

I absolutely LOVED it. You can't see it, but there are tiny hidden Mickeys all around it! And there's a tiny inscription on the inside that says, "Dreams do come true." A little bit of Disney every single day!

Of course, our day wasn't over yet. We made a quick stop at Target because I wanted to get more notecards from the dollar spot to write thank you cards to my students for their Christmas gifts. We also stopped by the DVD section and Weird got season 4 of The Office for $17. So score! Haha, of course, it kind of stinks how he only spent $12 more than I did and he'd have way more fun (although, of course, I get to watch it too since I didn't finish that season and technically it's partially mine when we get married!).

After that, we were starved and we made our way over to get sushi! I was so excited! We were ready to devour a ton of food. Yummy.

We ordered an appetizer called spicy mix. It was a bunch of assorted raw fish with this really yummy sauce in it. I can't reallly have spicy but he said it wasn't that bad. It was a little spicier than expected, but it was so tasty. I just kept on drinking that tea. Haha, of course, I had a little dumb moment and I was like, "Are these noodles?" when it was really bits of crab. Haha. I said a couple of silly things that day. I guess I was just so giddy.

IMG_4717.jpg

Then we had 5 rolls .... 2 california rolls, a sake roll (spicy salmon, avocado wrapped with salmon and smelt roe on top), a shrimp tempura roll, and dragon roll (eel and cucumber wrapped with avocado and smelt roe on top). Oh dear, just thinking about it now makes me crave.

Oh man. I was such a happy girl. My guy. My guy just knows the things to make me happy. Although I absolutely love the things he got me, it really is the thought behind it that I love. He did what he could in being creative to get the 3 out of 3.

And the thing is, we're not all fun and games. I had actually gotten upset with him the night before because of something he had said online that just came out wrong (one of the bad things about internet communication). We talked about it earlier in the day, and by the end of the day, all was well again. He pointed out that he liked that we could have those moments when we can be grouchy with each other but through it all, we still do love each other.

I do. I really do love you, Weird. And I can't wait to marry you.

Awww, you guys are so cute! I was so happy that the first time I've really been on the DIS much recently and I saw a new post from you!

I love your gifts. Great job Weird on incorporating everything on the wish list!

The last picture is adorable.

OMG I saw the disney ring and i totally thought you were engaged!!!!!! that's still adorable :) i want the mk game!

Hehe, what Ninja failed to mention was that this picture is the place for our reception after the wedding. Of course, we are only kidding because it's a tacky Chinese dimsum place! Although I do like the phoenixes ... there were 3 of them!! :woohoo:

Thanks Irky! I had a feeling the first reply to a post on our thread would be from you. Hope you're having a good time off and that you had a Merry Christmas! Happy New Year too! :goodvibes

Haha I'm actually surprised Ninja didn't see it sooner since it was a blue box sitting on my table right next to my keyboard! Although she had to have known that I couldn't have possibly bought an e-ring. I'm glad you don't think it's tacky or anything like that! You can find the MK game online, I'm curious to see if they actually have a game for all the parks! I have a feeling that Disney wouldn't pass up on a money-making idea like that though!

Merry Christmas everybody! And have a Happy New Year!! :grouphug:

Oh the joys of beinga nurse, I get to work both holidays. I can't wait to find a 9 to 5 job. haha, did she just pretend not ot notice the ring or did she really not?

No it was a beautiful ring, I want one!

I have that Magic Kingdom game too! :goodvibes Its really fun, I hope you guys enjoy it too :) Its nice to know you guys had a nice Christmas! Nice ring- by the way. You cant go wrong with a Mickey Mouse ring, can you? Love it!

wow. I'm so glad to hear from u too again, i was beginning to worry. I'm glad to hear all is well with the two of you. Sorry to hear of your busy schedules though, I know how that goes and it stinks!

It's such a pity when real life takes over. I bought a netbook so I could do some work at school, and I'm so tempted to ask for the wireless internet password. However, I know that if I do, I might be tempted to surf DIS while I'm teaching class!

Haha, not engaged yet! I wish we were, but all things in time, right? Hehe, I'm far away from my own Disneymoon TR :)

Weird and I (along with my family) were supposed to go to my grandparents' house on New Year's Eve where all the family was gathering but because my cousins were sick, we didn't want to risk it. Of course, my younger brother was so upset so that's why Weird came over. We played the game twice along with one game of Monopoly Jr. Toy Story edition.

I didn't win any of them! Haha, but my excuse was that I just wanted to stay in MK longer and that's why I wasn't in a rush to visit all my attractions and leave!

wow. I'm so glad to hear from u too again, i was beginning to worry. I'm glad to hear all is well with the two of you. Sorry to hear of your busy schedules though, I know how that goes and it stinks!

Don't you think that if everyone in the world just stopped with their busy schedules and visited WDW, we'd be closer to actually having world peace?

I was dreading the start of this past week. Although students everywhere dread the start of school after a long vacation, I think people in general don’t realize that teachers are also upset about having to go back to work as well! Oh how much I didn’t want to let go of sleeping in! Plus, I was fairly productive and got ahead in planning lessons for some class, but I also knew that with a few more days, I could’ve done a lot more in terms of grading. Oh well.

Although Monday morning was not a cheerful one, I did have something that kept me going. Monday was Weird and my 6-month anniversary! Even though we weren’t actually going to see each other, I still relished in the thought that we had been together for half a year (we broke up just shy of 6 months when we dated over 2 years ago).

That afternoon my mom picked me up from work. When I got into the car, I saw a picture of a dole whip float on the dashboard in front of the passenger seat. It was a picture I had taken last year when we went in February. I was slow in putting two and two together. I mean, I just taught a full day of classes! I was like, “Did you buy me a dole whip?”

Then my mom said, “We’re going to …” and I interjected, “DISNEY WORLD?!?” I then proceeded to start screaming at the top of my lungs! Haha, my mom later regretted telling me in an enclosed car.

I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face. I started listing all the things we HAD to do. Last trip, we didn’t have a chance to eat at Columbia Harbour House. We also didn’t explore many of the stores at Downtown Disney. Eating at Earl of Sandwich again was a given; even my dad would agree to that since he enjoyed it. Making my way around all of World Showcase (or at least starting with the UK instead of Mexico would mean I’d see different countries!) was necessary. We also had to get the Eeyore flattened pennies that my mom didn’t have a chance to get because that’s her favorite character. And of course, flat Weird and Ninja were so excited that they were finally going to go on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority!

My excitement couldn’t be contained. I started making mental lists. I also started thinking about Trip Report information! After some time, I came up with my title. See, I really wanted to go during Christmas time. A student of mine went around Thanksgiving, and I was so jealous! Then a group of my cousins went around the new year time to bond and have fun. Even though only a few went, all the cousins were invited. Oh wait, did I mention that I was the only one not invited? So you can imagine how much more I really wanted to go!

I also absolutely love the dole whips even though I ate it only once. Because of the whole Christmas thing and dole whip thing, my title was: “And Visions of Dole Whips Danced in My Head” from The Nutcracker. Okay, maybe it’s not as clever to you as it is to me, but it actually means something so I was even more excited!

This is going to turn into a great trip. I’m much more prepared than I was last year, and this time Weird and Ninja would be able to go! Yay!

During dinner, we all sat down, and I actually went to get paper to make an actual list of things we had to or wanted to do. Haha, my mom added on that we needed to get Orange Blossom Honey because they only have it in the south and it’s the honey we like (makes really yummy teriyaki-honey glazed salmon!).

Suddenly, my dad starts talking about the timing of the trip. Apparently we don’t HAVE to go just yet (we have a timeshare in Kissimmee and we don’t technically need to use our week yet). And one reason after another comes up as to why he doesn’t want to go or why we shouldn’t go. Can you imagine how crushed I am? Just before dinner, I actually started the PTR!

I left the computer and came here to listen to music so I wouldn’t have to hear all the reasons why. But yes, we’re not going anymore. Bet you didn’t think it was going to turn into that, did you? Because I sure didn’t! Now the next 6 weeks until our next week vacation just seems so long and torturous! The planning was going to get me through it! Oh man. Instead of going to sunny Florida and spending some time with my favorite mouse, I’ll be here. At home. I guess flat Weird and Ninja are going to have to wait a little longer ...

Just caught up on the thread. I have not had much time on the computer lately.

Ninja, I'm sorry you're not going to Disney. :sad1:
You must be so disappointed after thinking you were.

Earlier tonight I was adding dates to the calendar, and looking at Feb vacation week thinking last year I was at Disney, and this year I'll be at home. :sad1: I don't think we will get back to Disney until 2010, but I never completely give up hope. I had thought we would go to my Dad's in Ft. Lauderdale for April Vacation, but airfare is just too much. Its so high during school vacations. I think we are going to drive to my in laws in Philadelphia for part of the week in April. It doesn't help that it just keeps snowing here. :sad2:

Great Christmas presents!!!! Good job weird!
I love the Mickey ring!
I was looking at the Magic Kingdom game online in November. I was going to buy it for the kids for Christmas, but before I did, the price jumped! :scared1:
I decided to wait and see if it went back down. It looks really neat. Thanks for posting the pictures. I love to shop online, but sometimes its hard to tell the details. I checked and the price seems to be lower again, so I think I will order it!!!

Happy 6 month Anniversary! :goodvibes

I never continued with the “trip report” from the vacation my family took to Virginia! Haha, life started to take over, but I figure I’ll post it now. You don’t mind that it was from last August, right? Hehe.

After shopping around, we headed back to the property. My dad wanted to stop by the Business Center to check his email and stocks and stuff. I was waiting around for that, but I was getting impatient so my mom, brother, and I headed out to explore a bit. We had asked about the historical sites nearby and we were directed to the General Store so that's where we headed.

On the way, we stopped by the Manor House, which is a house on the property that's a colonial house. It was interesting to see everything in there, even though those huge paintings of random people (haha, well not random, but random to us!) were creepy because they were just staring at us. I took a bunch of pictures and I was like, okay, that's good enough "colonial" knowledge for me!
The Manor House.
IMG_4021.jpg

Haha, I had initially wanted to go to Colonial Williamsburg, but when I found out that the tickets were $37, I kind of nixed the idea. Plus, it would take an entire day and my dad would definitely not be into it. Also, my mom didn't really want to go either because she doesn't like loud noises and they shoot the muskets and cannons.

Weird and Ninja absolutely love fireplaces!
IMG_4024.jpg

They also really liked this rocking chair because it wasn’t so far off the ground. It didn’t take them that long to climb up on it.
IMG_4025.jpg

They wanted to see if they could come up with a strategy to sail all the way down to Florida.
IMG_4027.jpg

Alas, this didn’t help much.
IMG_4028.jpg

Their favorite room was the dining room. Yummy, fake food!
IMG_4034.jpg

Wonder what they had under there … maybe some turkey legs?
IMG_4035.jpg

Just a tiny sip of wine … hehe, don’t want to get too crazy!
IMG_4037.jpg

And lastly, just one of the many creepy paintings of random people! Well, I’m sure they’re not random, but they definitely are creepy!
IMG_4041.jpg

Back at the condo, I had a mug of that yummy cappuccino. It was very satisfying. Afterwards I was a little antsy from the caffeine, but it wasn't terrible. I just moved around a bit. It did give me energy to head out because mom, my brother, and I went to the Colonial Fife and Drum demonstration in front of the Manor House. There was an older guy playing the fife and a younger guy with the snare drum.

IMG_4050.jpg

They talked a little and then played a bit and answered questions. That was really fun to watch and we learned things too. Haha, you're bound to learn things when vacationing in Virginia. For example, these things were used in battle to signal the troops. The fife was made so that it would be heard above musket fire. The drum was made so that it could be heard below cannon fire. The wars back then were fought on the honor system so the British and Americans wouldn't purposely shoot the musicians. It was just really interesting to get a taste of it. They said that if we went to Colonial Williamsburg, we would see 40 of them lined up playing. Haha, I wanted to say, "Well, you guys are free ..."

They needed to take a break so the 3 of continued to go explore the property. This was a garden behind a restaurant.
IMG_4057.jpg

Walking around, they were able to enjoy some more nature.
IMG_4059.jpg

Not quite a bunny on Disney property, but who knows? Maybe this one has cousins who live on a Disney resort!
IMG_4061.jpg

At the General Store, my mom asked about the historical sites. I went around taking a few pictures.

Such cute colonial bears!
IMG_4063.jpg

Weird wanted to be a colonial soldier.
IMG_4064.jpg

Definitely missing the real Weird while I was there!
IMG_4066.jpg

Leaving the store, Weird and Ninja saw a well! Not exactly Cinderella’s Well …
IMG_4069.jpg

Enjoying the gorgeous day together. Oh those silly kids.

Continued soon!

Ninja, I'm sorry you're not going to Disney. :sad1:
You must be so disappointed after thinking you were.

I definitely was/am! I said to my mom that it would've been better not to be told I was going. It was kind of being discussed a few days earlier, but I knew that there was a chance we might not be able to secure our timeshare on such short notice. But suddenly it was given to me and then snatched away. So all I can say is what I say in class to my students, "Oh boo."

Earlier tonight I was adding dates to the calendar, and looking at Feb vacation week thinking last year I was at Disney, and this year I'll be at home. :sad1: I don't think we will get back to Disney until 2010, but I never completely give up hope. I think we are going to drive to my in laws in Philadelphia for part of the week in April. It doesn't help that it just keeps snowing here. :sad2:

I see I'm not the only one upset about a non-Disney February vacation! I hope you still get to do something fun and interesting with Jacob and Hannah!

I was looking at the Magic Kingdom game online in November. I was going to buy it for the kids for Christmas, but before I did, the price jumped! :scared1:

It really is so cute! Each player picks a card from each land. You have to be the first to visit all the attractions and then leave the park. The other players don't know which attractions you have to see so that's what makes it fun. There are other cards that give you the power to send players elsewhere! It's really cute, especially with the facts on each card. Haha, it was interesting that in one game 3 of my 5 attractions were Hall of Presidents, Country Bear Jamboree, AND The Enchanted Tiki Room!

Happy 6 month Anniversary! :goodvibes

Thank you! :lovestruc

oh no that's so sad! you and weird should go soon!

I agree! But with everything that's going on in our lives right now (his upcoming graduation and job search during this lovely recession as well as my hope to switch into the public school system), it's not going to be for a while. It just never ends. I miss being a young kid just knowing that I'd get to go to WDW soon!

The Manor house looks neat. Glad you got to do a "free version". I'd like to go to Williamsburg someday, but with all trips I never find the time or money. And I keep prioritizing those Disney trips over the others.

I orderd the MK game Sunday night, and since I have Amazon prime, I get two day shipping. (There aren't many stores near us, so I shop online a lot.) When Jacob and I arrived home today the game was waiting for us!!! We were setting up when Hannah came in, so the three of us played a game together. It was a lot of fun! I loved the event cards. Hannah was ahead the whole game, so we kept sending her places. She won anyway. Even though I sent her from three places from winning all the way back to its a small world. (at Jacob's suggestion). He did send her back to first aid on his next turn though.

Hope you're doing well, it's been a couple months!

Thanks PrincessNewsie! It has most certainly been a while, we've been very busy with all sorts of stuff. I have my thesis project to deal with and Ninja still has those 9 classes to prepare for every week! We're hanging in there though, thanks for your concern!

Glad to hear that you got the game as well! It was so exciting to open it up and see all the mini-Disney structures!! I do have a question though because every time Ninja and I play, I always get the same card, which is Aladdin's Flying Carpet Ride and it's spelled wrong!! It's spelled Alladin or something like that and it bugs me to no end! Haha, other than that, I really love playing the game with Ninja. We're silly about it too, sending each other to all different sorts of places and waiting for each other to leave the park! Good to know that you guys are enjoying the game as well! :goodvibes

i miss reading the stories hope to read new stories soon

I can't promise anything, but we do have a few pictures that we've yet to upload of the flats! Good to see that people are still wanting the adventures!!

------------------------------------------------------------

I just finished my midterm for my Flash class. Boy it took a while! Quick question though, does anybody know how to upload a shockwave file or something like that? The animation I did is related to Virtual Magic Kingdom and I would love to show my fellow DISers! PM me or reply here! Thanks!!

Haha yep, if Disney's a possibility, I'd definitely choose that over Williamsburg. Virginia is just one of those vacation spots when we can't make it to Florida.

That's what happened when Weird and I were playing with my brother! During one game when Weird and my brother were alternating in taking the lead, I would try to convince the other person not to use the event card on me because I was so far behind. Hehe.

Hope you're doing well, it's been a couple months!

Thanks guys! Like Weird said, we've been busy. This past week was stressful. We had the math state testing for 6th to 8th grade on Tuesday and Wednesday so I was stressing about that, particularly the 6th grade. They just refused to listen to what I was explaining over and over again about how to show the work. This group of 6th graders are just extra immature so it gets to be quite frustrating. I feel like the grades are a reflection on me so I think I worried about it more than they did!

Then Thursday and Friday was the lovely Parent-Teacher Conferences! I stayed at school all day on Thursday until 9pm. They were from 6:30-9pm on Thursday and 1-3pm on Friday. Unlike the elementary school teachers who have the scheduled appointments, the middle school teachers have to wait around until the end time just in case parents straggle in at the last minute.

On top of all that, I was exhausted since Monday. I slept for at least 2 hours every single day of the week (minus Thurs, of course). There are sinus infections and stomach viruses going around the school so I was fighting something.

THEN yesterday afternoon until only a few hours ago today, our gas pressure dropped to pretty much nothing until it really was nothing at all so we didn't have hot water or heat at home. Oh boy, it was freezing! I didn't have a long, hot shower since Wednesday since we had brown water on Thursday night! Haha, definitely a rough week for me.

Anyway, I'll work on one right now!
