The moon tonight. I think I sharpened it a little too much, but oh well. :goodvibes

Those moon pics are awesome! We tried to even SEE the moon here for the last two nights but it's been too thick with fog so I'm glad to see the pics of Mr. Moon instead! I really like them!

This was my attempt at the moon last night. Shot handheld with 55-250mm IS.

THAT is AWESOME! I don't know how you held so steady! :worship:

his exposure was 1/400 of a second so that is pretty fast plus his focal length( adding the crop factor in) = his shutter speed so that helps you be able to hold it steady enough to get the shot you want( not taking anything away from it, it's still a good capture)

Thats what I was going to say, you don't have to hold it very steady at 1/400 with IS. That was one of several quick shots I took last night and they actually turned out better than some I've taken with a tripod. But it lacks some of the detail that a smaller f stop would have provided.

Here's one for today:

Shot at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Unfortunately, they don't allow tripods or monopods, so I had to brace myself firmly against...the glass. You should have seen the smudge I left. ;) ( I did clean it, in case you were wondering)

All these photos are just fabulous. Gives me more inspiration to get out my camera and play a little more with it.

something about jelly fish makes them so photogenic:rotfl: ;) the local zoo doesn't have them but i love photos of them..also like your signature. do you do that with a program like vista that lets you write( personally can't figure out vista's but what else is new)?

Thanks Jann! What I did to create the signature is this (in Photoshop):

I wrote my name with a Wacom tablet (alternatively, sign your name with a Sharpie on a white piece of paper and scan it in).

Selected the black (or white if you want to inverse the colours).

Use the option "create brush". Simple!

DeletedPenguin - I've always loved your DL shots and now another great shot with the Jellies. Do you have any outside shots of what the Monterey Aquarium looks like? Or anymore shots inside? We are thinking of traveling to Yosemite with a stop over in Monterey....my youngest daughter loves sea turtles.

The hubster surprised me with a small bouquet of flowers. This rose is from the bouquet.

Wow - you guys have some amazing shots!:thumbsup2 I haven't been doing much photography lately....this may just be the incentive I need to get out there (once it warms up a little).
