Post Your Wedding Cake

All of these cakes are beautiful. I think for our's since my Cinderella Cake Topper goes with a few of them, I think the few Im leaning toward are he Happily Ever After(or having it say and they Still live happily ever after but in gold), Bridge to Happiness, or the Mickey Wave with the Castle(and our topper on the table next to it, also in gold). For those who did the Chocolate Slipper Deserts and the Mickey Ice Cream Bars(We may have to add those too, sorry to steal your ideas, they're awesome).

I've been debating whether i wanted to post my cake or not. I went round and round with DCL about the cake, it was one of the most important elements of our day! After being told no repeatedly on what i wanted, it was decided they would provide a plain white fondant cake, with no decorations at all!! The floral cake topper was provided by me.

Once on board, I was able to speak with the wedding coordinator and was able to tell him what i wanted. I showed him a picture of the Happily Ever After cake that DFTW does. I also showed him a picture of a cake with just mickey heads. And then of course, my own floral cake topper. I asked if they could either write Happily Ever After on the cake, or do the dots. He said he would speak with the chef and see what they could do. The day of the ceremony, he told me the pastry chef would make the cake the way i wanted, and use my cake topper too.

so we do the ceremony, and at the end i go to look at the cake.....:rotfl: I'm totally not mad or upset or disappointed at all. In fact, considering what i expected i was going to get stuck with when we got on board....i absolutely LOVED the cake! They ended up doing BOTH designs on the cake, but in their own DCL-ized way. Yes....that is BLACK icing on the wedding cake.

Granted it's not perfect, and if you think about it, totally not approiate for a wedding at all. But they tried, and like I said, compared to what i expected, i was happy. In the end it tasted AMAZING, they did a great job with the floral topper, even splitting them up around the cake, and the Mickey Heads are great. I can overlook the black block writing. ;)

All I can say is WOW. How ever would a person chose? I had a small wedding in 1997 and the woman who owned the bakery who made my cake was a family friend. She did hidden mickeys inside the bells on the cake for me. I thought that was so wonderfull and it was...but WOW.

I actually got to design our cake. It's a combination of a sunburst mirror, a bakelite radio, and the light in the theatre on the Disney cruise ships. We knew we wanted something art deco and they threw in the idea of actually lighting something up. It's a separate piece that fits back into the cake made completely of sugar (my husband tested all of it). They used little LEDs to light it up:

The top and bottom were almond cake w/ amaretto, the middle layer had tropical mousse.

Yay... I can finally play!

So I just asked for a 3-teir mad hatter style cake in pink, purple, orange and green with a soft swirl type decorations. I guess I should have been more specific in my description, because this is what I got. I have NO idea why it was day-glow orange :confused3.... Not bad, but it didn't go with the rest of the decorations or theme of the wedding. But oh well, it was quite yummy, and that's what really matters.

I can see how you may have been disappointed. It isn't what you wanted, but I absolutly love it! It is so pretty. I may use it for mine! Can't wait to finish reading your trip report!

Thank you newlyweds, for posting all of these beautiful pictures. Please keep them coming. I could look at them for hours!

This is my cake. I loved it. I so have to say the GF pastry shop went way above and beyond. The cake topper is made of chocolate and was made to look like a WDCC figure. When we came to see the room the pastry chef was there so I was able to tell them what a wonderful job they did. I am a pastry chef my self so I know the work that went in to the topper.

I love both of these cakes. Can I ask how much they were?

Thanks!:goodvibes

I can't believe I never posted a picture of our cake from our vow renewal! We were going for a fall/Tim Burton theme. Top layer was chocolate cake with buttercream filling, and the bottom layer was marble cake with chocolate filling. The cost was $450 and it fed 50 people.
